ARTHUR L. HALLIDAY, OF YONKERS, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO THE BIGELOW' CARPET COMPANY, OF CLINTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR A CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,089, dated J'u1y 25, 1882.
Application filed June 10, 1882. Term of patent 3} years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ARTHUR S. HALLIDAY, of Yonkers, in the county of Westchester and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configuration of parts hereinafter more fully described.
The accompanying photograph illustrates a face view of a carpet having my new design.
A is a stripe ornamented with the crossband a, consisting of a double band of rectangular figures, resembling the rectangular Greek pattern; also with a band, 0, consisting of a series of pendent rectangular figures, with blank spaces between them, hangin g below a series of rectangular figures set alongside each other. The stripe A is bordered by the bandf, ornamented with a series of circular flower-like figures.
The stripe B contains the figure E, consisting of widely-open roses, above which projects the cluster e of leaves, branches, and foliage, the whole forming a sort of bouquet, of which the roses are the central portion. This bouquet E is bordered on each side by the figure d, resembling a pillar of trellis-work, consisting of a series of diamond-shaped figures placed between two upright posts.
The figure D consists of a widely-open roselike flower above, and from which projects the leafy branch 0.
The figure F is a band composed of a series of arches with ornamentation between the pillars thereof.
I claim- 1. The design for carpets, consisting of the stripe A, containing bands a bf, substantially as shown.
2. The design for carpets, consisting of the hands a b, substantially as shown.
3. The design for carpets, consisting of the figures E and e, substantially as shown.
4. The design for carpets, consisting of the figure d, substantially as shown.
5. The design for carpets, consisting of the figures D and c, substantially as shown.
6. The design for carpets, consisting of the figures E, e, and d, substantially as shown.
7. The design for carpets, consisting of the stripe B, containing figures E, c, d, D, and c, substantially as shown.
8. The design for carpets, consisting of the band F, containing figure g, substantially as shown.
9. The design for carpets, consisting of the stripe A, containing figures a bf, stripe B, containing figures E e d D c, and band F, containing figure g, substantially as shown.
