YORK, ASSIGNOR TO THE BICE- DESIGN FOR A CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,427, dated August 23, 1881.
. Application filed July 14, 1881. Term of patent 3} years.
To all whom t't may concern:
Be it known that I, ARTHUR L. HALLIDAY, of Yonkers, in the county of Westchester and State of New York, have invented a new and 5 original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configura- IO tion offigures hereinafter more fullydescribed.
The accompanying photograph illustrates a face view of a carpet having my new design.
The figure B is a stripe containing the figureg, a band ornamented with aseries ofhroken parallel lines, also containing the figure e, a band ornamented with a series of two rows of flower-like figures, each row fitting into the interstices of the other.
The figure A is a stripe containing the figure h, composed of two rectangular loops sup ported on a sort of rectangular pedestal, and with a background of parallel lines running along the stripe A. In the opening between the figures It, which are set at intervals, comes the figure 2 a bunch of circular flowers with leaves projecting around them.
The figure a is a background containing a pattern of angular figures.
The figure 0 consists of two large open cir- 3o cular flowers with surrounding leaves and sprays, one of these sprays, f, somewhat resembling a branch of coral.
The figure d resembles a pillar with two rectangular loops, one on each side, and having 3 5 set on its end the figure i, already described.
The figure D consists of a center of widelyopen rose-like flowers surrounded by pointed leaves and leafy branches, and having projectiug from it the flowering branch 0, consisting of flowers set on slender stems. This branch 0 extends over a background, 11, having the appearance of braided or interlaced work. These various figures are repeated at intervals in the stripe A.

4. The design for carpets, consisting of the figure h, substantially as shown.
5. The design for carpets, consisting of the figure 2 substantially as shown.
6. The design for carpets, consisting of the figures d and t, substantially as shown.
7. The design for carpets, consisting of the figure b, substantially as shown.
