DESIGN FOR CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,007, dated November 2, 1880. Application filed August 25, 1880. Term of patent 3. years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN 'B. NEIL, of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for 5 Carpet, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets, oil-cloths, and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and 10 configuration ot' figures hereinafter more fully described.
The accompanying photograph illustrates a face View of a carpet having my new design.
0 is a bouquet, composed of the roses 0,
r5 branching leaves f, branch g, with leaves on one sprig and roses on the other, and branch is, with similar leaves thereon.
The figure D is composed of two roses with foliage and leafy sprays around them.
The figure E is composed of a band, which I'LllS in zigzag fashion and fornisa sort of trellis-work background fora portion of the figure D, and connects the bouquet O with the figure D.
25 The figure Z1 is a sprig of oval leaves near and stretching over trellis'like bands, that, in matching the carpet, are part of the figure E.
The figure a is composed of branching leaves and twigs and fern-like sprays.

The whole design of the carpet is made up of the group G and the surrounding figures 1) E a b (I, together with the branching twigs and sprays, which join the groups and figures and 5 fill the interstices between them.
