HENRY NORDMANN, OF BROOKLYN, NEWV YORK.
DESIGN FOR A CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 11,833, dated June 29, 1880.
Application filed February 12, 1880. Term of patent 31; years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, HENRY N ORDMANN, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets, oil-cloths, and similar fabrics. It consists in the novel grouping and configuration of figures hereinafter more fully described.
The accompanying photograph illustrates a face View of a carpet having my new design.
The background is composed of square figures a, formed of parallel lines, and diamond figures b, placed in alternate squares a. On one side is a group, A, composed of two geometrical figures, d d, placed at right angles to each other, and of a rectangular figure, e, and a geometrical figure, f, placed obliquely between the two figures d d. Flowers g'are superposed on the figures of group A, so as to partially cover the same.
Opposite the group A is a group, B, composed of a geometrical figure, h, a zigzag-shaped lower border, h, and of a bunch of flowers, 1, which connects and partially covers the figures h h.
In the center of the field is a group, 0, composed of rectangular figures j j, placed parallel to each other, a rectangular figure, Z, placed obliquely against one end of figure j, and angular scrolls m m, that extend from the opposite end of figure j.
Close to the group B is a vase-shaped ornament, D, having vines n 0 p branching from it. The vine n connects the vase D and group B, and vine 0 connects the vase with the group A, and, traversing said group, extends to group G. A branch, q, extends from the central group, C, upward.
Above the group O is agroup, D, composed of geometrical figures. o o and flowers branching from figure o, of peculiar form, which figures are ornamentedwith flowers, as shown.
Between the groups C and D, and a little to one side, is a group, E, formed of an obliquelyplaced rectangular figure, s, and overlaid flowers and leaves, and on the opposite side is a group, F, composed of three fan-shaped figand connecting the figures t o.
ures, to v, the central figure, a, overlappir The group I overlies a flowered vine, w.
I claim- 1. The design for a carpet, consisting r group A, which is composed of the figures 1 e, and f, substantially as shown.
2. The design for a carpet, consisting 1 group B, composed of the figures h and h, sul stantially as shown.
3. The design for a carpet, consisting group O, composed of the figures j j, Z, m, an m, substantially as shown.
4. The design for a carpet, consisting group E, composed of the figure s and ove: laid flowers and leaves, substantially as show 5. The design for a carpet, consisting group D, composed of the figures -v and o, sul stantially as shown.
6. The design for a carpet, consisting group F, composed of the figures t, a, and 1 substantially as shown.
7. The design for a carpet, consisting of th vase-shaped ornament D and vines n 0 p, e: tending from it, substantially as shown.
8. The design for a carpet, consisting of th group A and vase D and vine p, substantiall as shown.
9. The design for a carpet, consisting of th group B, vase D, and vine a, substantially i shown.
10. The design for a carpet, consisting of th groups A and O and vine p, substantiallyz shown.
11. The design for a carpet, consisting of th groups A B O, vase D, and vines n o p, sul stantially as shown.
12. The design for a carpet, consisting of th group O and branch or spray q, substantiall as shown.
13. The design for a carpet, consisting background a b and figures A, B, C, D, D, I and F, and of the floral ornaments, substai tially as shown.
