DESIGN FOR CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 11,834, dated June 29, 1880.
Application filed February 12, 1880. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, GEORGE W. PIGGOTT, of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpet, of which the following is a specification.-
This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets, oil-cloths, and similar fabrics. I
It consists in the novel grouping and configuration of figures, hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
The accompanying photograph illustrates a face viewof a carpet having my new design.
011 the background of the carpet is a central rectangular figure, a, and on one side, in line with figure a, is a group, A, composed of a fence, I), a wall, d, and a fence, 0. Above this group is a rectangular figure, f, partially inclosing a spray, g, of flowers, which falls over a border, 9.
Between the group A and figure f is a field, A, with flowers, leaves, and vines scattered over it.
B is a group composed of a cross-shaped figure, g overlaid with flowers. O is a rightangular border, extending from the central figure, a, to the group B. -D is a field inclosed by figure a, border 0, and groups A B. E is a group of flowers, leaves, and vines, from which sprays extend in every direction.
F is a rectangular border, extending up from the figure a, and inclosing a field, in which is the group of flowers E and group E of chains h, bars 11/", and flowers h and from group E a vine, h, extends upward over the border F, and a branch, 4 from the said vine extends over the border 0 into the field D.
H is a rectangular border, between which and the figure a and border F is a field, I, traversed by branches j of the floral group E. At the bottom of the field I is a group, K, composed of geometrical figures l l and flowers m. Between the group K and the border 0 is a field, L, traversed by branches at of the vine h.
I claim The design for a carpet, consisting of the figure a, groups A B E E K, figures f, vines h j, branches at, borders g G F H, fields A D I L, and intervening flowers, leaves, and vines, substantially as shown.
