DESIGN FOR A CARPET.

SPECIFIGATION forming part of Design No. 12,489, dated September 20, 1881.

Be it known that I, JULIUS PEGEL, of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configuration offigures hereinalter morefully described.

The accompanying photograph illustrates a face view of a carpet having my new design.

A is a floral group, coinposed of a rose and otherflowers andof many leaves. B is asmaller fioral group,placed below the group A. From the upper part ofgroup A extends an L shaped har, a. Another bar, b, connects groups A and B. To the right of group B is a bar, d, which joins it to a third fioral group, G. Dis another floral group, which connects with the bar a and with another L -shaped bar, c, that extends to the group O. The bars a, I), d, and e are each subdivided into small rectangles, as shown. This renders them prominent and makes the efi'ect of dividing the groundwork of the carpet into geonietrical fields.

E is a large floral group, located below the groupD, and connected with the same by two parallel bars,f. At the left of group E is an angular bar, j, and rectangular ornament l. Below the group E is an angular bar, g, joining it to group G below. Two bent bars, h and i, extend from the group E to a floral group, F. The upper bar, 71, also serves to connect groups B and E.
