To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, WiLLIAM MCUALLUM, of Yonkers, county of \Vestchester, and State of New York,-have invented a new and origi nal Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates toa newand original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configuration of figures hereinafterniore fully described.
The accompanyingphotograph illustrates a face view of a carpet having my new design.
The carpet is divided into two prominent portions, A and B, longitudinally. The por tion A, which is the main part, has at its edge a longitudinal border, a, of ornamental out line, from which project representations b of leaves hearing projecting lilies f and long slender leaves 0. In the portion A are also representations j of tree like plants bearing grape-like fruits k, and having at their lower parts blossoms g and It. From the border a projects also a bouquet, 0, having a. spray, d. The edge of the field A which is nearest to the field B is ornamented with a stripe, i, of peculiar design, it being composed of double T-like figures that are setin reverse order in alternate pairs, as shown, and some of them set at right angles to the direction of the stripe.
The portion B of the carpet is composed of three stripes, n, m, and 0.
The stripe n is next Term of patent 15 years.
