DESIGN FOR A CARPET.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,115, dated August 1, 1882.

Application filed June 26, 1882. Term of patent 3} years.

'To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, WILLIAM KERR, of Philadelphia, in the State of Pennsylvania, have invented a certain Improved Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.

This design for carpets may be woven in any colors and in any character of fabric, whether the same has a piled surface or not, and said design is represented in the accompanying photograph.

The design consists of representations of bunches of flowers placed quincuncially upon a mottled ground having light lattice shaped lines of different characters, as shown, to relieve the other portions of the design. The bouquet-patterns a a are each composed of a central flower, with stems, diverging feru and ensiform leaves, buds, and blossoms, as represented. The intermediate pattern, (I, represents a stem, with blossoms, and ensit'orm and piunate leaves grouped together, as represented. The patterns are repeated at stated intervals, and they are arranged so as to match where portions oi the pattern are upon adjacent hreadths of the carpet.

I claim as my invention- The design for carpets, as represented, consisting of representations of bunches of flowers and leaves placed quincuncially, substantially as described.
