GEORGE F. HENSEL, OF PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA.
DESIGN FOR W OVEN FRINGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,903, dated April 25, 1882.
Term of potent 7 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE F. HENSEL, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, have invented or produced a new and original Design for a \Voven Fringe, of which the following is a specification.
My design for a woven fringe is fullyshown in the accompanying drawing.
The design relates mainly to theheadingA, and comprises a surface-pattern, a, woven upon the ground I) with thread which should be of a color different from that of the said ground, so as to form an imitation of handembroidery. The pattern shown in the present instance is of a vine-like character, and comprises a waved stem or branch with projecting twigs and blossoms at intervals. Near each edge of the heading is a band, d, and the upper edge of the heading has a series of projecting loops, 0. Secured to the upper edge of the heading at intervals are bunches f of chenille, which overhang the heading and 0bscure, or partially obscure, the pattern a, so as to give increased effect to those portions of the pattern which are exposed. The pendent portion of the fringe in the present instance consists of single threads; but this forms no part of my design.
I claim- 1. The design for the heading A, said de sign comprising the groundwork b, with the surface pattern (6, forming an imitation of hand-embroidery, all substantially as shown and described.
2. The design for the heading A, said design comprising the groundwork I), with bands (I, and imitation embroidery pattern a, all sub stantially as shown and described.
3. The design for the heading A, said design comprisingthe groundwork b, with bands (I, loops 6, and imitation embroidery pattern a, all substantially as shown and described.
4. The design for a woven fringe, said design comprising the heading A, with imitation embroidery pattern ct and overhanging bunchesf of chenille, as shown and described.
In testimony whereof I have signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.
GEORGE F. HENSEL. Witnesses:
HARRY DRURY, HARRY SMITH.
