Description

DESIGN FOR DRESS-TRIMMING.
Design No, 11,175, dated May 6, 1879 UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
JULIUS GERSON, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO THE DUNNELL MANU- FACTURING COMPANY, OF PAWTUGKET, RHODE ISLAND.
DESIGN FOR DRESS-TRIMMING.
pecification forming part of Design No. 11,178, dated May 6, 1879; application filed March 1, 1879.
[Term of patent 3% years.]
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, JULIUS GERsoN, of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Design for Printed Trimmings for Dress-Goods, &c.; and 1 do hereby declare that the followin g specification. taken in connection with the accompanying illustration, forming a part ot the same, is a full, clear, and exact description thereof:
The novel design hereinafter described con sists of a printed representation of a con1bination-trimmin g for ornamentiug dressgoods, &c., the said design having the following features. r
A represents a portion of a pattern of dress or other goods composed of vertical stripes, the said portion being bounded on the lower edge by a broad line, a, in imitation of binding. At some distance above the line a is ar ranged a transverse flounce, B, of coarse boxplaiting, the goods being striped and represented as cut diagonally. This flounce is apparently placed upon the surface of the goods, and is bounded on the lower edge by an irregular line, b, in'imitation of binding, and the under plaits are shaded to retire them into a proper position, the character of the line b assisting in producing the desired efi'ect.
The flounce B is headed by an ornamental band, C, which is surmounted by inverted boxplaiting D, finer than that composing the flounce B, the plaiting D being bounded upon its upper edge by a broken line, d, in imitation of binding, and the under plaits being shaded, as above described.
The fabric may be printed in any preferred variety or combination of colors for giving a desirable effect to the design above described, the characteristic feature of which is a printed representation of bound box-plaited trimmings separated by an ornamental band, in combination with a portion of a pattern of dress or other goods, represented as bound on its lower edge.
Having described my invention, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for printed trimmings for dressgoods embodying the representation of a transverse box-plaited flounce, a headband, and a line of box-plaiting above the band, substantially as herein described, and shown in the accompanying illustration.
JULIUS GERSON.
