Description

H 11 EX DESIGN FOR DRESS-TRIMMING.
Design No. 11,179, dated Mayfi, 1879' UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE,
JULIUS GERSON, OF NEW YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TOTHE DUNNELL MANUFACTURING COMPANY, OF PAYVTUGKET, RHODE ISLAND.
Specification forming part of Design No. 11,179, dated May 6, 1879; application filed March 1, 1879. [Term of patent 31} years.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, J ULwsGERsoN, of New York, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Design for Printed Trimmings for Dress- Goods, 850. and I do hereby declare that the following specification, taken in connection with the accompanying illustration, forming a part of the same, is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
The novel design hereinafter described consists of a printed representation of a threadlace pattern for trimming dress-goods, &c., the said design having the following features: Upon the plain ground A of the fabric is arranged an open-work lace body, B, composed of diagonal lines representing threads, the said body being studded with dots, as at b, and its surface ornamented with wrought leaves, flowers, and sprays in connection, as at O D E. An ornamental wrought band, as at F, is arranged as a heading to the body, the upper and other portions of which are shaded by vertical lines, as at G, in imitation of the effect produced by gathering. The lower portion of the pattern is partly made up of figures, as at H, which are composed of solid and open-work members in the shape of ovals, wheels, curves, dots, &e.
The figures H alternate longitudinally of the pattern with solid and open-work flowers, as
at K, which form a portion of the lower edge of the pattern, and appear directly under and in connection with the leaves 0, above mentioned.
The remaining portion of the lower edge of the design is composed of flowers L, which have solid leaves and wheel centers, the said flowers being connected with each other and with the figures H and flowers Ix.
The fabric may be printed in any preferred variety or combination of colors for giving a desirable effect to the design above described, the characteristic feature of which is a printed representation of a thread-lace pattern composed of the members arranged as specified.
Having described my design, what I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The design for printed trimmings for dressgoods, consisting of a lace-pattern embodyin g the representation of a wrought upper band, open-work body, wrought sprays, leaves, flowers, and vertical shade-lines, and a lower border, composed of the heavy complex figures and edge of flowers, substantially as herein described, and shown in the accompanyin g illustration.
JULIUS GERSON.
