DESIGN FOR A COVER FOR BRUSH-BACKS.
SPECIFICATION forming part of. Design No. 28,409, dated. March 29, 1898. Application filed October 4,1897. Serial No. 654,087- Term of patent 3% years.
0 all whmn 116 may concern:
Be it known that I, THEODORE W. FOSTER,
citizen of the United States, residing at rovidence, in the county of Providence and tate of Rhode Island, have invented and roduced a new and original Design for the lovers of the Backs of Brushes and Similar Irticles, of which the following is a specifiation, reference being had to the accompa- Iying-drawings, forming part thereof.
Figure 1 is a plan view of an oval brush- ,ack cover showing my new design. Fig. 2 s a sectional view of the cover.
The leading and material feature of my lesign consists in the scalloped outline of he plain surface of the cover and the floral vreath extending parallel with the outer edge if the cover within the scalloped outline.
In the drawings, 3 indicates the outline of .he cover 3'. This outline may be of oval 'orm, as is shown in Fig. 1. At intervals tlong the margin of the cover the inwardly- :urved lines 4: form triangular recesses 5, givng to the plain surface of the cover a scaloped outline. The triangular recesses 5 are ornamented with a floral design resembling a forget-ine-not. The floral wreath is formed alternately of the floral group 6, consisting of the rose 7 in the center of the rose-leaves 8 S, from which extend a number of stems terminating each in a calyx 9, resembling a heliotrope, and the floral group 10, in which the conventional form of the flower known as forget-me-not forms the center,fron1 which floral stems and leaves radiate, the stems terminating in calyXes resembling heliotropes, the whole forming an open floral wreath the general form of which corresponds to the form of the cover.
Having thus described my newly-produced design, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
The design for the cover of the backs of brushes and similar articles herein shown and described.
