SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 25,248, dated March 10, 1896.
Application tiled December 30, 1895. Serial No. 573,828- Term of patent 3-1 years.
To all whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, FREDRIC M. PARKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at lVorcester, in the county of Worcester and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a speciication.
My invention relates to a design to be Worked into or upon carpeting or other similar fabric; and I do hereby declare that the drawing accompanying this specification gives and conveys to any one skilled in the art of carpet-weavin g a clear understanding of the same that is sufficient to enable such person to use my invention.
The said drawing is a face view of a carpet embodying my design.
The drawing illustrates a body and a border.
The body A consists of a substantially-uniform groundwork upon which appear circular figures arranged in horizontal rows and also diagonally as to each other. Each figure consists of a closed wreath formed by small overlapping floral figures having rounded petals. Conventionalized stemwork is placed inside the wreath or circular figure, eonnecting the ioral figures in the Wreath with a small conventionalized flower in the center.
In the spaces between the circular figures appear smaller figures, each being formed by conyentionalized stem and leaf work and having a general triangular shape.
The border B consists of a series of the same figures that appear in the body A. rlhe outer margin consists of a broad band separated from the other portion of the border by a series of conventionalized floral igures having curved outlines. The outer edge of the band is broken by figure-Work into a darker edge. Upon this band are placed set figures, each consisting of three small oralshaped figures set in triangular form and having three parallel stems extending from beneath.
The colors employed for the different portions of this design may be varied to suit the taste or convenience of the manufacturer.
That I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. In a design for carpeting, the body A substantially as shown.
2. In a design for carpeting, the border B, substantially as shown.
3. The design for carpets, consisting of the body A and the border B, substantially as shown.
