DESlGN FOR CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 25,224, dated March 3, 1896.
Application filed December 16, 1895. Serial No. 572,373. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may cancer/t.-
Be it known that I, JACOB B. CAMPBELL, a citizen of the United States, residing at Yonkers, in the county of Westchester and State of New York, have in vented and produced a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a design to be Worked into or upon carpeting or other similar fabric; and I do hereby declare that the drawing accompanying this specification gives and conveys to any one skilled in the art of carpetweaving a clear understanding of the same that is sufiieient to enable such person to use my invention.
The said drawing is a face view of a carpet embodying my design.
The drawing illustrates a body and a border.
The body A consists of a substantially uni form groundwork, upon which are arranged in irregular manner figures or flowers having pointed petals. These figures are surrounded by long graceful leaves, which are curved around, so as to Wholly inclose them.
The border 13 consists of a substantially uniform groundwork, upon which appear floral figures conforming in character to those in the body A. Every alternate flower is surrounded by curving leafwork similar to that of the body A, but curved around, so as to form a wreath. The inner margin is defined by aseries of figures having curved outlines and giving a scalloped appearance to the edge. The outer margin is perfectly plain.
The colors em ployed for the different portions of this design may be varied to suit the convenience or taste of the manufacturer.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a design for carpeting, the body A, substantially as shown.
2. In a design for carpeting, the border B, substantially as shown.
3. The design for carpets, consisting of the body A and the border B, substantially as shown.
JAGOB B. CAMPBELL.
