"1. l m UM WMIIII'NIJE UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FREDRIC M. PARKER, OF \VOROESTER, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO \VILLIABI JAMES IIOGG, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 25,345, dated March 31, 1896.
Application filed December 30, 1895. Serial No. 573,829. Term of patent Si years.
To all whom it may concern.-
lie it known that I, FREDRIC M. PARKER, L citizen of the United States, residing at Worcester, in the county of \Vorcester and Commonwealth of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original De- =ign for Carpets, of which the following is a pccifieation.
[y invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon carpeting or other similar fabric; 1nd I do hereby declare that the drawing acrompan yin g this specification gives and conveys to any one skilled in the art of carpetweaving a clear understanding of the same that. is suflicient to enable such person to use my invention.
The said drawing is a face view of a carpet embodying my design. The drawing illustrates a body and a border.
The body A consists of a substantially uniform groundwork upon which are placed figures of the style known as Indian. These figures are set diagonally in relation to each other and are of four different shapes. One figure consists of an ornamental center of a pineapple shape. From beneath appear conventionalized leaves, and from the top projects a branching stem with leafy ornamentation. Another figure has a dish-shaped base, out of which appears to be growing conventionalized leafy ornament. The third figure is of a emiventionalized tulip shape, and the fourth is composed of ornamental leafwork and conforms to the others in general appearance. Around these are arranged curving sten1and-leaf work of a conventional character in such a manner as to divide the face of the carpet into equal regular figures or sections.
The border 1) consists of a substantially uniform groundwork, upon which appear the same figures and arrangement as in the body A. The inner edge of the border is defined by a series of small figures conforming in style to the other work. The outer margin of the border is left perfectly plain.
The colors employed for the different portions of this design may be varied to suit the taste or convenience of the manufacturer.
IVhat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a design for carpeting, the body A substantially as shown.
2. In a design for carpeting, the border ll, substantially as shown.
3. The design for carpets consisting of the body A, and the border B, substantially as shown.
