WITN ESSES= Mr W run so. novouv-n. Inlnua'ul a c UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
FREDRIC M. PARKER, OF \VORCESTER, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO \VILLIAM JAMES HOGG, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 25,987, dated August 18, 1896.
Application filed y 22, 1896. Serial No. 600,173. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that I, FREDRIC M. PARKER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Worcester, in the county of Worcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon carpeting or similar fabrics; and I do hereby declare that the drawing accompanying this specification gives and conveys to any one skilled in the art of carpet-weaving a clear understanding of the same that is suflicient to enable such persons to use my invention.
The said drawing is a face view of a carpet embodying my new design.
The drawing illustrates a body and a border.
The body A consists of a substantially uniform groundwork upon which are placed similar figures horizontally and diagonally arranged as to each other. Each figure consists of a center formed by a group of conventionalized buds spreading from an ornamental base. Inclosing these and curving around at each sideappear jointed leaf shapes resembling conventionalized cactus-leaves.
Between these figures are placed small floral figures of a circular shape.
The border B consists of a substantially uniform groundwork upon which appear the same figures and arrangement as in the body. The inner margin is defined by a series of small circular floral figures alternated by an ornamental shape having curved outlines. The outer edge is separated from the central figure-work by arches of small floral figures. Above the arches are placed vertical rows of similar floral figures, each alternated bya single similar figure.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- 1. In a design for carpeting, the body A, substantially as shown.
2. In a design for carpeting, the border B, substantially as shown.
3. The design for carpets, consisting of the body A and the border B, substantially as shown.
FREDRIC M. PARKER.
