UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN L. NEIL, OF NEW? YORK, N. Y., ASSIGNOR TO MATTIIElV J. VVIIITTALL, OF \VORCESTER, MASSACHUSETTS.
DESIGN FOR CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 24,022, dated February 12, 1895.
Application filed January 16, 1895- Serial No. 535,163. Term of patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHN B. NEIL, residing at New York, county of New York, State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Pattern to be \Vrought into \Vilton and other Carpetings in such coloring as may be designed; and I do hereby declare that the drawing accompanying this specification gives and conveys to any one skilled in the art of carpet weaving and manufacture a clear understanding of the same, and is suflicient to enable such person to use my invention.
The design consists of a body A and a border B.
The body A is decorated with a series of scroll work, thickly covering the background, and at regular intervals appearing to radiate from a common center.
The border B is decorated on its inner edge with scrolls of same general character as body, the centers, however, being placed farther apart, so that the groups of scrolls do not intersect as in the body. The outer edge comprises a sub-border showing figures of similar character to the scrolls.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. In a design for a carpet, the body A, substantially as shown.
2. In a design for a carpet, the border B, substantially as shown.
3. The design for carpets, consisting of the body A, and the border B, substantially as shown.
JOHN B. NEIL.
