DESIGN FOR CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 27,450, dated July 27, 1897. Application {iled March 6, 1897. Serial No. 626,327. Term of patent 3l years.
1'0 all whont it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, JOSEPH S. WIsHAnT, a citizen ofthe United States, residing at Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon carpeting or similar fabrics; and I do hereby declare that the drawingaccompanying this specification gives and conveys to any one skilled in the art of carpet -weaving a. clear understanding of the same that is sufficient to enable such persons to use my invention.
The said drawing is a face view of a carpet embodying my new design. The drawing illustrates a body and a border.
The body A consists of a substantially uniform groundwork upon which appears a bunch of conventionalized flowers and leaves growing from au ornamental base and snrrounded by leafy scrollwork, arranged to form a symmetrical igure of conventional form.
The border B consists of a groundwork similar to that of the body, upon which appear sprigs of conventional [lowers and leaves of similar' character to those in the body. The outer edge is characterized by a band formed by scrollwork, which is surrounded by arches of conventional flowers and leaves.
The colors employed for the different portions o this design may be varied to suit thc convenience or taste of the manufacturer.
lVhat I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
1. In a design for carpeting, the body A, substantially as shown.
2. In a design for carpeting, the border B, substantially as shown.
3. The design for carpets, consisting of the body A and the border l, substantially as Shown.
