DESIGN FOR A PANEL OR UPRIGHT FOR FURNITURE.
SPECIFICATION forming part; of Design No. 36,253, dated March 24,1903.
Application filed February 24, 1903. Serial No. 144,925- Term of patent 7 years.
I hereof, and in which a panel or uprightshowing my design is illustrated bya perspective view.
As illustrated in the drawing, the leading or material feature of my design consists in the shape or configuration of the panel or upright, combined with the surface ornamentation thereof.
As illustrated, the panel or upright has a main body a of rectangular outline surmounted by zigzag ornamental projections I), having zigzag surface ornamentations l) to represent in Indian mythologysuccessive terraces of clouds. The body a is also ornamented on its surface with symbolic ornamenta- Below the main body (1 projects the curved base d, which in outline or configuration represents conventionally a porcupine according to Indian mythology. This base (1 has surface ornamentat-ions 61, 01 and (1 accentuating the representation of the porcuo pine by ornamenting the outline with conventional representations of quills and other-appendages of the porcupine.
The design when viewed in frontelevation has the appearance of a mythological porcupine of conventional form supporting a rectangular panel, which in turn is capped by cloud terraces conventionally represented according to Indian mythology.
