To all whom, may concern.-
Be it known that I, CHARLEs ARTHUR SPEAKMAN, a citizen of the United States, re? siding at New York city, in the county of New York and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for an Ornamental Print or Pattern for Cigar- BoXes, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, forming a part thereof.
My design is intended for the ornamentation of a cigar-box.
In the accompanying drawing the design is shown on the lid or cover of a cigar-box, the view being a front elevation with the lid raised.
The design comprises an oblong horizontal panel having a deep border ornamented by scroll and fret Work. On the right side of the panel is shown in perspective a set of china- Ware. In the foreground, also in perspective, is shown a match-safe with the lid open and the matches exposed, a lighted cigar resting upon a plate, and a wine-glass.
In the upper left-hand corner of the panel the design also shows a shield surmounted by a crown and having a castle in its field. On each side of the shield is arranged a branch of green leaves, the stem ends of the branches crossing under the shield.
I claim- The design for an ornamental print or pattern for cigar-boxes substantially as shown and described` In testimony whereof I aix my signature in the presence of two Witnesses.
