Description

UNITED STATES PATENT QFFICE.
ARNOLD BARDOE, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
DESIGN FOR A VEST.
Specification forming part of Design No.-10,825, dated September 10, 1878; application tiled August 8, 1878.
[Term of patent years] To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ARNOLD Bannon, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new Pattern for Vest and Gross- Over, of which the following is a full, clear, and eXact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, making part of this specification, in which drawing- Figure 1 represents a front view of a vest and crossover containing my design. Fig. 2 is a rear view of the same.
Similar letters indicate corresponding parts.
My invention relates to a design for what I term a vest and cross-over,77 and which consists of a back from which extend two wings, that constitute the front of the article, and the ends of which cross each other on the back, where they are fastened together.
In the drawing, the letter A designates the back of my vest and cross-over. B is the front part, and O O are the two ends of the wings extending from the back. The face of the back A is plain, while the front B contains Va series of transverse ornamental strips, a,
top edge of the ends. Between the ends O C and the front B are ornamental strips f, into which the strips d e vanish, and which extend up around the arm-holes g, thence down the edges of the back A, and along its lower edge.
In the space between the ornamental bindingstrip b and the intermediate strip d of the ends are a series of transverse ornamental strips, j, while at the point where the ends cross each other the outer one is ornamented by a rosette, h, and at their extremities each ot' the ends is ornamented by a tassel, 1'.. 3y these features I obtain an article possessing' a very handsome and distinguishing appearance.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. The design for the front of a vest and cross-over, consisting of the transverse ornamental strips a and the ornamental bindingstrip b, embodying the collar c, as shown and described.
2. rIhe design for the ends of a vest and cross-over, consisting of the ornamental binding-strips b c, the intermediate ornamental strip d, and the transverse ornamental stri psgl between the lower binding-strip and the intermediate strip, as shown and described.
3. The design for the front and the ends ot' a vest and cross-over, consisting of the transverse ornamental strips a and the ornamental binding-strip b of the front, the binding-strips b c, the intermediate strip d, and the transverse ornamental strips j of the ends, and the dividing ornamental strips f between the front and the ends, as shown and described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing I hereunto set my hand and seal this 6th day of August, 1878.
ARNOLD BARDOE.
