DESlGN FOR A CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,253, dated August 22, 1882,
Application filed July 28. 1885!.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ARTHUR L. HALLIDAY, of Yonkers, in the county of Westchester and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and. original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configuration of parts hereinafter more fully described.
The accompanying photograph illustrates a face view of a carpet having my new design.
D is a flower group having extending from its center the figure d, composed of pointed grass-like sprays, with abunch of star-flowers near the end thereof; also, the figure 0, consisting of a. circular flower, with indented leaf somewhat resembling an oak-leaf projecting therefrom; also, the figure b, consisting of a branch with a semicircular flower thereon also, the figure e, composed of a flower, beyond which extends a branch bearing oval leaves. With this group D is also connected by an irregular nearly-leafless branch the figure a, consisting ot'a bunch of circular indented flowers.
Near the group D is the figure m, composed of a bunch ot'heart-shaped leaves, with a flower extending therefrom, and below this figure m is the figure G, consistingof a bunch of flowers and leaves partly overlapped by the eggshaped figure f, with an ornamentation of flowers thereon, which is in turn partly overlapped by the indented circular flower g, near which lies the smaller indented circular figure h.
The figure F is composed of flowers, with their projecting branches and leaves, and just below it lies the figure n, made up of circular indented fiowers, with smallbranches surrounding them.
A is a flower group whose center is composed of a circular flower, from which projects on one side the branch i, springing from a cluster of circular star-flowers, this branch 1',

bearing an open poppy'like flower, with leaves surrounding, it widely. From the other side of the group A springs the flower clusterj, composed of a central flower with leaves and sprays, and small flowers surrounding them, and from the branch i,near its base, starts another branch, which apparently joins it to the bunch of flowers s. The figure It" consists of a cluster of heart-shaped leaves, above which projects a branch bearing thinly scattered flowers.
