DESIGN FOR CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,069, dated December 21, 1880. Application iiled September 18,1880. Term of patent years.
To all whom t may concern:
Beit known that l, WiN'rnnor L. JAcoEs, of Jersey City, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and original Design for a Carpet, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics, and it consists in the novel l grouping and configuio ration of iignres, hereinafter more fully described. i
The accoinpaijiying photograph illustrates a face view of a carpet having my new design.
The design consists of iiower-like iigures I 5 and rosette-shaped iigures scattered over a background, and having vines embellished with leaves and buds running between and iillin g the interstices between the various iigures.
zo The figure A is a flower-like figure resembling a widely-opened rose.
The iigure B is a ilower-like figure resembling somewhat a tulip.
The figure C is a rosette-shaped gure.
The figure D is a half-rosette resembling the haltot' a suniiower.
The iigure E is a iiower-like iigure widely open with a large center.
The figures F G H J O l3 Q, R also represent iiower-like figures of different sizes and somewhat different shapes scattered over the background, and all of them with their leaves widely open.
The iigure I somewhat resembles an open 3 5 daisy.
The figure K is a iiower-lilie iigure with a projecting center, somewhat like a Cornucopia.
The iigure L is a iiower-like iigure having projecting from its upper edge a vine with di- 40 viding leaves and a flower between them.
The ligure M is a flower-like figure, having two projections on one side resembling claws.
The ligure N is a semicircular Bower-like gure.
The iiguresc b d c f g h represent the vines which appear in the interstices between the various Jfigures and connect them.
