DESIGN FOR A CARPET.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,335, dated June 28, 1881. Application filed February 7, 1881. Term of patent 3; years.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JULIUS PEGEL, of New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates toa new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configuration of figures, hereinafter more fully described.

The accompanying photograph illustrates a face view of a carpet hating my new design.

A is a figure consisting of a center composed of circular open flowers surrounded by leaves and foliage, among which are found at intervals sluall'circular flowers. The figure A is surrounded by the patterned bandsg d b t, containing several sections of difierent design.

The figure H consists of rose-like flowers surrounded by leaves, and is inclosed .by the putterned bands It i b m d.

The figurefD consists of a bunch of circular flowers having projecting from it two separate stems bearing flowers and leaves, and is surrounded by the patterned bands k ll The figure B consists of a center of circular flowers with leaves and ferns projecting therefrom, and is surrounded by the patterned bands b, k, and a.

The figure G consists of a cluster of starflowers with projecting ferns.

The group 0 consists of the figure I, a rose and its surrounding leaves; of the figure J, a branch bearing an open rose and rose-buds; and of the figure L, a cluster of circular flowers and their leaves.

The effect of the design is that of separate bouquets or clusters of flowers and foliage surrounded by broad patterned bands.

I claim 1. The design for carpets, consisting of the figure A, substantially as shown.

3. The design for carpets, consisting of the figure D, substantially as shown.

4. The design for carpets, consisting of the figure H, substantially as shown.
