DESlGN FOR A CARPET.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 17.645. dated August 23. 1887.

Application filed July 21,1887. Serial No. 244.941. Term of patent 35 years.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, OTTO HEINIGKE, of New Utrecht, Long Island, New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is aspecificatiou, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.

The invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.

The accompanying photograph is aface view of a carpet-showing my new design.

My design is made up of several larger cupshaped or rose-like flowers, each resting on a cluster or group of loosely-hanging leaves; also, ofsmallerstar-shaped flowers surrounded with leaves or supported alone on astem. These flowers and leaves are connected by 20 stems which are encircled or covered with a vine-like work. This vine-work also occurs here and there in the spaces between the larger figures.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure 25 by Letters Patent, is-- The design for carpets, consisting of the design substantially as shown.
