DESIGN FOR A CARPET.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18.128, dated March 6, 1888.

Application filed January 26, 1888. Serial No. 262,050. Term of patent 3} years.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, J AMES L. FoLsoM, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and original 5 Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photograph which forms a part of the same.

The invention relates to a design to be IO worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.

The accompanying photograph is a face view 15 ofa carpet showing my new design.

My design consists of a number of circular flower forms having concentric rings of radiating leaves, and also smaller bell-shaped flower forms. These flower forms are all supported upon an underlying stem-work that appears :0 here and there in the intervening spaces. Upon this stern-work, also, are leaves .of varying forms and sizes, generally arranged around the flower forms, but sometimes occurring separatel y between the flower forms. In the open 2 5 spaces between the leaves and flowers are light stems or twigs.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- The design for carpets, consisting of the de- 0 sign substantially as shown.
