DESIGN FOR A CARPET.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18,161, dated March 6, 1888.

Application filed January 26, 185 8. Serial No. 262,092. Term of patent 3* years.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, HENRY HUNT, of Green ville, New Jersey, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.

The invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.

The accompanying photograph is a. face view of a carpet showing my new design.

My design consists of a number of irregularly-shaped flower forms and leaf forms disposed over the surface of the carpet, as shown in the photograph. The flower forms are roselike in character, and are seen partly in profile, and have petals which are uneven or jag 2o god in outline. The leaf forms are very irregular in form and outline. Theseleaf forms generally appear to project from under the flower forms. The intervening spaces between the larger figures are ornamented with smaller 25 flower and leaf forms.

What I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

The design for carpets, consisting of the design substautially as shown.
