DESIGN FOR A CARPET.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 18,158, dated March 6, 1888.

To all whom it may concern.-

Be it known that I, HENRY HUNT, of Greenville, New Jersey, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification, reference being bad to theaccompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.

The invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such ascarpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.

The accompanying photograph isa face view of a carpet showing my new design.

My design consists of a combination or grouping of conventionalized or geometrical flower and leaf forms with simpler geometrical figures, allconnected and unified by a conventionalized orgeometrical stem-work. The various figures, as well as the connecting stem- 20 work, are angular in outline or appearance. Repeated here and there over the surface of the carpet and between the couventionalized plant forms are small geometrical figures.
