0. HEINIGKE.
CARPET.
Patented Sept. 27, 1887.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
OTTO. HEINIGKE, OF NEW UTRECHT, NEW YORK, ASSIGNOR TO THE HART- FORD CARPET COMPANY, OF HARTFORD, CONNECTICUT.
DESIGN FOR A- CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 17,743, dated September 27. 1887.
Application filed July 21. 1881. Serial No. 244,913. Term of patent 3 years.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, OTTO HEINIGKE, of New Utrecht, Long Island, New York, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, which forms a part of the same.
The invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.
The accompanying photograph is a face view of a carpet showing my new design.
lhe main feature of my design is the figure A, which is repeated upon the face of the carpet upon any suitable ground. This figure has the general shape of a diamond, but is divided into two corresponding parts, making a sort of double outline in each figure. The edges of the figure are indent-ed, and at the center the two parts of the figure are so shaped as to form an open space, in which a small ornamental figure is placed, forming a part of the larger figure, A. The figures A are arranged close together over the face of the design, as is clearly shown in the photograph.
What I claim as new, and desire to secure'by Letters Patent, is-
The design for carpets, consisting of the de- 30 sign substantially as shown.
OTTO HEIN IGKE.
