SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No, 14,293, dated September 18, 1883,

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ARTHUR L. IfIALLIDAY, of Yonkers, in the county of Westchester and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Carpet, of which the following is a full description, in connection with the accompanying photograph, which represents a face view of my new design for a carpet.

This invention relates to the new ornamentation of a carpet or analogous fabric.

Here the carpet is divided into an outer stripe, A, middle stripe, B, and inner stripe, G, the inner stripe, 0, being the broadest, and carrying on the lower margin or border, a, a

projecting twig, D, which extends into the stripe B, as shown, and on which are representations of flowers, buds, andleaves. In the stripe O is also the representation of a 20 floral group, E. The margin or border a, conof small flowers g. The background of the stripe B has curvilinear ornaments f, out of which appear to growgrapelike clusters e. On the background of the stripe G are also faintly visible conventional leaves h.

I claim The design for a carpet, the same consisting of the stripes B 0, having groups D E, and figures a, 2), cl, 6, f, g, and h, snbstantially as shown.
