JOHN GLEN, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK.
DESIGN FOR A PRINTED FABRIC.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 13,082, dat-.ed July 25, 1882.
Application filed May 18, 1882. Term of patent 3 years.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, JOHN GLEN, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and Original Design for Printed Fabrics; and I do hereby declare that the following specitication, taken in connection with the accompanying illustration, forming a part of the same, is a full, clear, and exact description thereof.
My design relates particularly to printed fabrics known as calicoes,7 although it is equally applicable to silks, woolens, and other fabrics, either printed Or woven.
It consists in the representation of birds in Hight among the branches of trees or shrubs, as will hereinafter appear.
Referring to the illustration, A A represent differentviewsofbirdsin iiightainougbranches B of a tree or shrub. As shown in the illustration, vines O, bearing owers and leaves, and of a different color from the branches, are
[combined therewith upon the ground of the fabric; but the vines may he omitted, if desired. The birds, branches, and vines are repeated upon the surface ot' the fabric to forni the pattern.
The fabric may be produced in any preferred variety or combination ot' colors lor obtaining a desired effect.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
l. The design for printed or other fabrics, consistingofbirdsintiight among the branches Of a tree or shrub, substantially as set forth.
2. The design for printed or other fabrics, consistingof birds in Hight amongthe branches of a tree or shrub, and flowering rines, substantially as described and shown.
