SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,415, dated August 16, 1881. Application filed July 14, 1881. Term of patent d years.

To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, MILTON R. LOUDEN, of Jersey City,in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configuration of tigures, hereinafter more fully described.

The accompanying photograph illustrates a face view of a carpet having my new design.

The figure C is a stripe containing the figure d, which is a band containing a pattern resembling small tir-trees set in a row, with circular globe-like tigures below them, from which project downward a series ot' parallel lines. The stripe C also contains the band j, ornamented with a design resembling a bar, with knobs projecting at intervals.

The figure B is a stripe containing the band 0, Ornamented with a series of figures resembling clover-leaves set one upon or alongside Of another. 1t also contains the band i, with an ornamentation of rectangular iigures set close to one another.

The stripe A contains an ornamentation consisting of the ligure E, composed of the leaflike figures c and o and ff, all having their stems meeting in the center of the igure E and forming a square, with indentationsseparating the several leaves.

The igure D consists of a triangular base, h, composed ofigures resembling leaves, from the top of which extends the leaf-like figure g.

The figures E and D are alternated in the stripe A, and appear over the background'p, consisting of a series of little Iigures resembling the capital letter T.

The stripe a contains an ornamentation resembling a fence with closely set pointed pickets.
