DESIGN FOR A CARPET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Design No. 12,824, dated March 21, 1882. Application filed February 11, 1882. Term of patent 31; years.
To all whom it may concern Be itknown that I, HENRY HUNT, of Greenville, in the county of Hudson and State of New Jersey,have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a new and original design for carpets and similar fabrics; and it consists in the novel grouping and configu- 1o ration of figures hereinafter more fully described.
The accompanying photograph illustrates a face view of a carpet having my new design.
The field a, which is ornamented by small I5 fillet-w0rk,. bears various flower and other figurcs on small connecting stems that traverse the field irregularly.
A is an irregular flower with a above it.
B is a group with a central horizontal bar,
pointed leaves to the right, small flowers below, a scalloped flower at the base, and a split branch and bud form above.
C is a group consisting of an ornamented rectangular figure partially concealed by flowers and leaves below and to the left, with a leaf-spray 0n the right.
D is a group of small starshaped flowers with two upwardly-projecting blossom sprays.
bis a small circular flower with surrounding leaves.
E is a group with an open flower below and small pointed leaves and an irregular stem above.
5 F is a fan-like figure with a circular projection on the right.
0 is aconical leaf figure, and (l a small circular flower with pointed leaves.
G is a conical flower figure pointed down ward and to the right, with three large leaves as a baseand a projecting bud.
On a flowering stem from G projects a conical flower with tufted top, forming the cluster K is a figure resembling two hearts, with leaf forms above and below.
leaf spray L is an open flower with pointed petals.
M is a circular flower with pointed petals on each side.
Nis a cluster of two circular flowers and buds with a bud spray and petals below.
0 is a small conicalflower with tufted crown.
From L projects a forking stem, bearing on the left fork the group O, which consists of a small radiating flower with pointed leaves and two projecting bud sprays, and on the right fork the group P, consisting of one flower with pointed petals and a circular flower to the left.-
On a stem from P is the group Q-a conical flower and leaves with vertical bar.
R is a group notconnected with any of the surrounding figures, consisting of a doublecentered circular flower with pointed petals above, a small flower below and a flower with indented edge on the left. 5
S is a group consisting a small fan-like ligure, a pendent conical figure, a small circular flower, and above a rectangular figure with indented edge on the left and ornamented with conical figures at its lower part. Tisagroup consisting of an open flower with projecting leaves and a bud spray. These two groups S and T take the place in the general grouping of figures shown on the left of the photograph occupied by the groups C and Q in the otherwise identical grouping of figures on the right of the photograph.
I claim 1. The design for carpets, consisting of the figuresABCDEFGHKLMNOPQR S T b 0 (Z c, with connecting-stems, substantially as shown.
2. The design for carpets, consisting of the figuresABCDEFGHKLMNOPQR S T b c d c, with connecting-stems, and ground a, substantially as shown.
