Description

UNITED STATES PATENT OEEICE.
DAVID MONAIR, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS, ASSIGNOR TO ROXBURY CARPET COMPANY, OF SAME PLACE.
DESIGN FOR CARPET.
Specification forming part of Design No. 11,075, dated March 18, 1879; application filed December Q3, 1878.
[Term of patent years] To all whom it 'may concern:
Be it known that I, DAVID MONATE, of Boston, in the county of Sui'olk and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and original Design for Carpets, ot which the following is a specification:
The nature ot my design is fully shown in the accompanying photographic illustration.
The principal features of my design are the interlaced borders a a a, dto., ot' various forms, arranged as shown, the peculiarly shaped shield b and spaces d c f g h t', iuclosed by the borders a, and the bouquets c cl c2, arranged in the shield b and spaces d c, so as to form a series or row of bouquets running through the center of the piece, as shown.
I am aware that a carpet-pattern having interlaced borders arranged to form irregular shields and spaces is shown in Design Patent No. 10,780. My configuration, however, differs from that shown in said patent in the following particulars: First, the interlaced borders are diil'erently formed and arranged; second, the shields and spaces are differently formed; and, third, the shield b and spaces d e are provided with central bouquets, which are arranged to form arow extending through the center of the piece, each bouquet being in such proximity to the next as to give the effeet of an almost continuous line of bouquets, while in said patent the bouquets arc arranged only at opposite ends of the shield, and are somewhat widely separated.
I claim- 1. The design for carpets, consisting of the shield b and spaces d. e, having central bouquets, c c1 c2, arranged in a row extending centrally through the piece, as shown.
2. The design for carpets, consisting of the interlaced borders a a a, shield b, and spaces d c j' g h 17, inclosed by said borders, and the bouquets c c1 c2, arranged in the shield b and spaces d c, as shown.
In testimony *whereoi` I have signed my name to this specification, in the presence of two subscribing witnesses, this 17th day ot' December, 1878.
DAVID M CNAIR.
