DESIGN FOR A CARPET.
SPECIFICATION formingpart of Design No. 22,235, dated February 21, 1893. Application filed December 9, 1892. Serial No. 454,667. Term of' patent 3% years.
To all whom it may concern,.-
Be it known that I, WILLIAM M. DAINTEEY, a citizen of the United States, residing at New York, in the county and State of New York, have invented and produced a new and original Design for a Carpet, of which the following is a specification, reference being had to the accompanying photograph, forming a part thereof, which is a face view of a carpet showing my new design.
The invention relates to a design to be worked into or upon surfaces, such as carpets or similar fabrics, and it consists in 4the novel configuration and grouping of figures herein specifically shown and claimed.
The design consists of abody A and aborder B. The body A consists of scroll-shaped stems, ornamented with leaf forms on a ground containing fragmentary sprays of leaf and stem forms. The border B, has an inner ornamental margin composed of a series of figures arranged in connected series and approximating a circular shape, a main portion composed of scroll-shaped stems ornamented with leaf and branch forms, and festoon gures simulating owers of the rose type; and the border is further provided with an outer heavy margin composed of a bar figure and groupings of dotfgures, the rose figures intervening th`e dot and bar figures.
I claim- 1. In the design for a carpet the body A, substantially as shown and described. 2. In the design for a carpet the border B, substantially as shown and described.
