Be it known that I, J A0013 1-3. CAD'IPBELL, of Yonkers, county of Westehester, State of New York, have invented and produced by my own industry, genius, efforts, and expense a new and original Design for e Carpet, of which the following is it correct description, reference be ing; had to the annexed photograph, which represents a face View of my new carpet.

This invention relates to at new ornamentation of a carpet, oil-cloth, or similar fabric; and it consists of the novel grouping and out lines of figures hereinafter described.

In the photograph, the letters a 0; represent upright posts, which traverse a portion of the carpet, and which are joined by a peculiarlyfornied band, I), that connects with a, diagonal stripe, c. This stripe 0 also connects with an angular stripe, (1. Within the space which is embraced by the posts a a and band I) are formed three fields, c,f, and g. The field 0 contains a flora] group, h, from which a branch extends into the field f. The field 9 contains a floral gron1),z'. Beneath these fields is a band, j, Wlll('ll contains the floral ornaments 7.; Above the band I) is it stripe, l, which is composed of pentagonal figures, as shown.

The design for a carpet or other fabric, the some consisting of the figures a, b, c, (l, 0,1", g, h, "i, j, 7", and I, substantially as shown.
