Bulus sürtünme elemanlarini, özelde sürtünme keçelerini ilerleten ve yerinde tutan bir yaya ve böyle en azindan bir yayi içeren bir disk frenine iliskindir. Bulusun yayi, bir destek kismi, tipik haliyle disk freni çatali tarafindan tasinan uyan takim araçlari ile birlikte çalisabilen takim araçlarini içermektedir. Yay takim araçlarinin destek araçlari ile takilmasi, yay destek üzerinde tutulurken karsilikli olarak sabitlenmelerini saglamaktadir. Avantaj saglayan haliyle, yay, sadece bir yani üzerinde destek üzerinde sabitlenmistir, yayin karsisindaki yan, sürtünme elemani monte edilmeden önce, serbest halde tercihan büyük bir aralik ile serbest halde durmaktadir. Bulus, özellikle motorlu araba endüstrisinde ve özellikle motorlu tasitlar için frenlerin imalati için yararli olmaktadir.
