얇고 유연한 생리대

본 발명은 여성의 생리대(sanitary napkin)에 관한 것이다. 특히, 본 발명은 지속적으로 자신의 형태를 조절 유지하는(self-conforming) 구조를 통하여 착용자의 착용감과 안락감을 증강시킴으로써 매우 효과적인 흡수기구를 제공하는 얇고 유연한 생리대에 관한 것이다.
체액(예 : 월경, 소변 및 대변)의 흡수를 위해 고안된 흡수용품의 모든 형태와 종류는 이미 잘 알려져 있다.
여서 보호기구로서, 두가지의 기본적인 유형이 제공되었는데, 생리대는 외음부 주변에 외부적으로 착용하기 위해 개발되었고, 탐폰(Tampon)은 월경이 흘러나오지 못하도록 질강(vaginaI cavity)내에 내부적으로 착용하기 위해 개발되었다. 이러한 탐폰은 미합중국 특허 제4, 412, 833호[1983. 1l. 1,; Weigner et al; entitled "Tampon Applicator"] 및 미합중국 특허 제4, 4l3, 986호[1983. 11. 8; Jacobs; entitled "Tampon Assembly With Means For Sterile insertion"]에 기술되어 있다.
생리대와 탐폰의 구조적 특정을 단일기구로 함께 합치려고 시도한 혼성기구도 역시 이미 제시되었다.
이러한 혼성기구는 미합중국 특허 제2, 092, 346호[1937. 9. 7; Arone; entitled "Catamenial Pad"] 및 미합중국 특허 제3, 905, 372호[1975. 9. 16; Denkinger; entitled "Feminine Hygiene Protective Shield"]에 기술되어있다.
상기의 기구보다 덜 무리하게 시도된 다른 혼성기구는 음순 또는 음순간(interlabial) 생리대로 알려져 있으며, 이들은 적어도 부분적으로 착용자의 전정(vestibule)내에 위치하는 한 부분과 적어도 부분적으로는 착용자의 전정 외부에 위치하는 한 부분으로 이루어지는 것이 특징이다. 이러한 기구는 미합중국 특허 제2, 662, 527호[1953. 12. 15; Jacks; entitled "Sanitary Pad"] 및 미합중국 특허 제4, 631, 062호[1986 . 12. 23; Lassen et al; entitled "Labial Sanitary Pad"]에기술되어 있다.
본 발명에 따라, 생리대는 적어도 두가지의 일반적인 부류가 존재한다. 그러한 부류의 하나는 중간 내지많은 양의 월경을 흡수하기 위한 것이다. 이들 생리대는 흡수용량이 상당히 크다. 이러한 흡수용량은 일반적으로 두께와 부피가 큰 흡수성 물질(일반적으로, 플러프 펄프(fulff pulp)로 제조된 생리대에 의해 얻어진다. 이러한 부류의 생리대는 미합중국 특허 제3, 294, 091호[1986. 12. 27; Morse; entitled "Sanitary Napkin"], 미합중국 특허 제4, 654,040호[1987. 3. 31; Luceri; entitled "Smooth-Edged Contoured Sanitary Napkin"]및 미합중국 특허 제4,687,478호[l987. 8. 18; Van Ti1burg; entitled "Sanitary Napkin With Flaps"]에 기술되어 있다.
이러한 생리대는 이론적으로는 흡수용량이 크지만, 생리대가 착용되어 착용자의 대퇴부와 외음부에서 압력을 받게되면 플러프 펄프가 단순히 밀착되거나 정해진 형태는 없으나 일반적으로 로프형태로 모여진다.
이러한 생리대는 일반적으로 그들의 원래 위치에서 이ehd하여 착용시간이 짧은 경우에도 단지 부분적으로만 착용자의 질구(vaginal orifice) 또는 전정아래에 위치한다. 따라서, 이들 생리대는 사용시에 매우 낮은 흡수성을 나타내는 경우가 종종 있다. 또한, 이들 생리대는 말리거나 꼬여서 착용자의 팬티나 피부표면을 더럽히기 쉽다. 또한, 이들 생리대는 부피가 커서 착용감을 많이 느끼게 되고, 꼭끼는 바지, 정장 또는 수영복을입었을때에 신경이 많이 쓰인다.
두번째 부류의 생리대는 월경량이 적은 경우를 위한 것으로서, 일반적으로 팬티라이너(panty liner) 또는핀티쉴드(panty shiled)로 언급된다. 이런 유형의 생리대는 미합중국 특허 제4, 681, 578호[1987. 7. 21; Anders on and Brandt; entitled "Pantiliner With Ventilation Areas"]에 기술되어 있다. 이러한 부류의 생리대는 첫번째 부류의 생리대보다 얇고, 다소 유연하며, 일반적으로 보다 안락하지만, 흡수용량이 첫번째 부류의 생리대보다 떨어진다.
따라서, 실제 소비자는 얇고 유연하여 착용감이 좋고 안락하면서도 중간 내지 많은 양의 월경에 대해 사용하기에 충분히 액체 흡수용량이 커서 세거나 더럽혀지는 염려를 완화시킬 수 있는 생리대를 요구한다.
따라서, 본 발명의 목적은 얇고 유연하며, 중간 내지 많은 양의 월경을 횹수 및 보유하기에 충분히 흡수용량이 큰 생리대를 제공하는 것이다.
또한, 본 발명의 목적은 여성들의 비뇨생식부와 엉덩이 부분의 여러가지 구조적 형태에 잘 맛는 생리대를 제공하는 것이다.
또한, 본 발명의 목적은 착용감이 좋고 안락하며, 착용했다는 느낌을 덜 느낄 수 있는 생리대를 제공하는 것이다.
또한, 본 발명의 목적은 측면으로 연장된 플랩(flap)이 가랭이 부분에서 팬티의 양 가장자리를 덮을 수 있도록 고안되어 가랭이와 대퇴부의 팬티 가장자리 사이에 위치할 수 있는 얇고 유연한 생리대를 제공하는것이다.
또한, 본 발명의 목적은 플랩이 가랭이 부분의 팬티 가장자리를 둘러싸고 팬티의 의복과 맞닿는 면에 부착되어 더럽혀지는 것을 막고 생리대가 팬티의 적절한 위치에 유지되게 할 수 있도록 의복과 맞닿는 면에 부착시킬 수 있는 수단을 갖는 측면으로 연장된 플랩을 제공하는 것이다.
본 발명의 이들 및 기타 목적은 하기의 기술 내용과 첨부된 도면을 참고하면 보다 쉽게 알 수 있을 것이다.
본 발명에 따라, 신체접촉면, 의복접촉면, 및 액체 차단부재가 아래에 깔린 흡수부재로 구성되고, 유연성이 비교적 높으며 흡수용량이 중간 내지 많은 양의 월경량을 처리하기에 충분히 큰 용량을 갖는 생리대가 제공된다.
바람직한 태양으로, 생리대는 신체표면으로부터 아래쪽으로, 유공(有孔)필름 상부시이트(topsheet), 유공부직 완전흡수 포착시이트(wipe acquisition sheet), 수분-보유 티슈(wet-laid tissue), 초흡수성 코어(superabsorbent core) 및 차단시이트(barrier sheet)로 구성된다. 바람직하게는, 흡수재(absorbent)의 중앙 너비를 적어도 약 70cm 이상이고, 전체적인 생리대의 두께는 약 2.5mm 미만이다.
바람직한 양태로, 생리대는 가랭이 부분의 팬티 가장자리를 덮고 팬티의 의복면에 부착될 수 있는 측면으로 연장된 플랩을 갖는다.
본 발명은 여성 생리대, 특히 얇고 유연하며 착용감, 안락감, 보유성이 증강된 생리대에 관한 것이다.
여기에서 사용되는 용어 "생리대(sanitary napkin)"는 여성이 외음부에 착용하는 것으로서, 신체로부터 분비되는 각종 분비물(예를들어, 혈액, 월경 및 소변)을 흡수 및 보유하고, 한번 사용한 후에 버리도록 고안된(즉, 세탁하거나 또는 다른 방법으로 복원하여 재사용하지 않는) 제품을 말한다. 부분적으로는 착용자의 전정내에 놓이고 부분적으로는 그 외부에 놓이는 음순간 기구(interlabial device)도 역시 본 발명의 영역에 포함된다. 여기에서 사용되는 용어 "외음부'는 외부적으로 보이는 여성 생식기를 언급하는 것이며, 이는 대음순, 소음순 음핵 및 전정으로 제한된다.

차단부재(l6)는 흡수부재(13)의 제2주표면(22)에 인접하여 위치한다. 차단부재(16)는 흡수부재(13)에 흡수 및 보유된 분비물이 팬티와 같이 생리대(10)와 접촉하는 제품을 습윤시키지 못하게 막는, 유연하고 액체가 투과할 수 없는 어떠한 부재일 수 있다.
제1도 및 제2도에 도시된 바람직한 태양에 있어서, 흡수부재(13)는 액체 투과성 상부시이트(25), 액체 투과성의 완전흡수 포착시이트(28), 액체보유 티슈시이트(31) 및 흡수코어(34)로 구성된다. 제1도 및 제2도에 도시된 바람직한 태양에 있어서, 차단부재(16)는 차단시이트이다. 흡수코어(34)는 두개의 공기보유 티슈시이트(40 및 43) 사이에 배열된 하이드로겔-형성 물질(37)로 구성된다. 생리대(l0)는 함께 생리대(10)의 둘레(15)를 형성하는 측면 테두리(11)와 말단 테두리(12)를 갖는다. 생리대(10)는 일반적으로 상부시이트(25)에 의해 한정되는 신체표면(25)과 일반적으로 차단시이트(16)에 의해 한정되는 의복표면(17)을 갖는다.
생리대(10)의 몇몇 요소들을 보다 자세히 살펴보면, 흡수코어(34)는 일반적으로 압축가능하고 안락하며 착용자의 피부를 자극하지 않고, 신체 분비물을 흡수 및 보유할 수 있는 어떠한 부재일 수 있다. 흡수코어(34)는 제1주표면(46), 제2주표면(49), 한쌍의 말단 테두리(52) 및 한쌍의 측면 테두리(55)를 갖는다. 흡수코어(34)는 광범위한 크기와 형태(예를들어, 직사각형, 물시계형 등)로 제조할 수 있다. 흡수코어(34)의 바람직한 형태는 제l도에 도시된 바와같은 개뼈 형태이다. 이 바람직한 흡수코어(34)는 길이(세로방향의 중앙선 58을 따라 측정한 세로크기)가 약 22.0cm이고, 중앙부를 가로지른 너비(측면 중앙선 61을 따라 측정한 측면크기)가 약 7.0cm이며, 가장 넓은 부위를 가로지른 너비(측면크기)가 약 80cm이다. 흡수코어(34)의 형태는 제조상 용이하고, 착용자가 착용되어야 하는 방향으로 생리대(10)를 적절히 놓으려고 의식적으로 노력하지 않아도 될 수 있도록 대칭을 이룬다. 중앙부의 형태는 기본적으로 착용자의 대퇴부에 잘 맞고, 지나치게 밀집되는 것을 방지할 수 있도록 팬티의 가랭이 부분이 보다 얇다. 흡수코어(34)의 크기는 착용자의 신체규격에 따라 다양하게 선택할 수 있으며, 또한 분비액의 예상량에 따라서도 다양하게 선택할 수 있다.
흡수코어(34)는 코어의 제l 또는 제2주표면(46 및 49)이 각각, 상부시이트(25) 및 차단시이트(16)와 같은 인접요소에 본 분야에 잘 알려진 어떠한 방법으로(예를들어, 아교를 분무하거나 접착제로 접착시켜) 부착될수 있다. 이와같이 접착시키면, 흡수재의 통합과 복원이 용이해져 최적의 흡수도를 유지할 수 있다. 흡수코어(34)는 횡단방향에서의 습윤인장강도가 적어도 약 100.0g/cm 이상인 것이 바람직하다. 습윤 인장강도는 ASTM 표준 D 829-49에 의해 측정할 수 있다.
흡수코어(34)는 1회용 생리대, 기저귀 및 기타의 흡수제품에 통상적으로 사용되는 광범위한 종류의 액체흡수재로부터 제조할 수 있다. 적절한 흡수재의 예로는 일반적으로 에어펠트(airfelt), 크렙트 셀룰로우즈 와딩(creped cellulose wadding), 흡수성 포말, 흡수성 스폰지, 합성 스태플 섬유, 중합체 섬유, 하이드로겔-형성 중합체 겔화제 또는 이들과 대등한 물질 또는 그들의 조합물로서 언급되는 분쇄된 목재 펄프가 포함된다. 특히 바람직한 흡수재는 중합체 겔화제이다. 중합체 겔화제는 물 또는 체액과 같은 유체(즉, 액체)와 접촉하면 그들 유체를 흡수하여 하이드로겔을 형성하는 물질이다. 이러한 방식으로, 흡수코어(34)속으로 들어간 유체를 중합체 겔화제가 획득 및 보유할 수 있으므로, 이에 따라 흡수용량이 증강되고/되거나 유체 보유능력이 향상된 제품이 제공된다.
흡수코어(34)에 사용되는 중합체 겔화제는 일반적으로 물에 거의 용해되지 않고, 약간 가교결합되고, 부분적으로 중화된 하이드로겔-형성 중합체 물질의 입자로 이루어진다. 이러한 중합체 물질은 중합가능하고 불포화된 산-함유 단량체로부터 제조할 수 있다. 본 발명에 사용되는 중합체 겔화제의 제조에 사용하기에 적합한 불포화된 산성 단량체로는 본 발명의 참고문헌인 미합중국 특허 제4, 654, 039호[1987. 3. 3l; Brandt, Goldman and Inglin ; entitled "Hydrogel-Forming Polymer Compositions For Use In Absorbent Structures"]에 기재되어 있는 단량체가 포함된다. 바람직한 단량체로는 아크릴산, 메타크릴산, 및 2-아크릴아미도-2-메틸 프로판 설폰산이 포함된다.
아크릴산은 중합체 겔화제 물질을 제조하는데에 특히 바람직하다.
하이드로겔-형성 중합체 겔화제에 있어서, 불포화된 산-함유 단량체로부터 형성된 중합체 성분을 전분 또는 셀룰로오즈와 같은 기타 형태의 중합체 잔기 상에 그라프트 시킬 수 있다. 이러한 유형의 폴리아크릴레이트 그라프트된 전분 물질은 본 발명에서 사용하기에 특히 바람직하다.
통상적인 유형의 단량체로부터 제조할 수 있는 바람직한 중합체 겔화제로는 가수분해된 아크릴로니트릴그라프트된 전분, 폴리아크릴레이트 그라프트된 전분, 폴리아크릴레이트, 말레산 무수물-기본 공중합체 및 그들의 조합물이 포함된다. 폴리아크릴레이트 및 폴리아크릴레이트 그라프트된 전분이 특히 바람직하다.
본 발명의 흡수코어(34)에 사용되는 하이드로겔-형성 중합체 겔화제의 기본적인 중합체 성분의 특성여하에 관계없이, 이러한 물질은 일반적으로 약간 가교결합된 상태이다. 가교결합은 본 발명에 사용된 하이드로겔-형성 중합체 겔화제가 물에 거의 용해되지 못하도록 하는 작용을 하고, 따라서 가교결합은 사용된 중합체 겔화제로부터 형성된 하이드로겔의 겔부피 및 추출가능한 중합체 특성을 부분적으로 결정한다. 적절한 가교결합제는 본 분야에 잘 알려져 있으며, 예를들어, 본 발명의 참고문헌인 미합중국 특허 제4,076, 663호[1978. 2. 28, Masuda et al.]에 보다 상세하게 기재된 것들이 포함된다.
바람직한 가교결합제는 불포화된 모노- 또는 폴리카복실산과 폴리올과의 디- 또는 폴리에스테르, 비스아크릴아미드, 및 디- 또는 트리알릴 아민이다. 특히 바람직한 가교결합제는 N, N'-메틸렌비스아크릴아미드, 트리메틸올 프로판 트리아크릴레이트 및 트리알림 아민이다. 가교결합제는 일반적으로 생성된 하이드로겔-형성 중합체 물질을 약 0.001 내지 5.0몰% 함유할 수 있다. 보다 바람직하게는, 가교결합제는 본 발명에 사용된 하이드로겔-힝성 중합체 겔화제를 약 0.01 내지 3.0몰% 함유한다.
본 발명의 제품에 사용할 수 있는 약간 가교결합된 하이드로겔-형성 중합체 겔화제는 일반적으로 그들의 부분적으로 중화된 형태로 사용한다. 본 발명의 목적을 위하여, 이러한 물질은 중합체의 형성에 사용된 단량체의 적어도 25.0%, 바람직하게는 적어도 50.0몰%가 염-형성 양이온으로 중화된 산그룹-함유 단량체인 경우에 부분적으로 중화된 것으로 간주한다. 적절한 염-형성 양이온으로는 알칼리금속, 암모늄, 치환된 암모늄 및 아민이 포함된다. 중화된 산그룹-함유 단량체인 사용된 전체 단량체의 이 비율은 본 명세서에서 "중화도"로서 언급한다.
본 발명의 흡수제품에 사용되는 중합체 겔화제 물질은 이러한 제품에 접촉되는 액체를 흡수하는 용량이 비교적 커야한다. 이들 물질의 흡수용량은 본 발명에 사용하기 위해 선택하고자 하는 중합체 겔화제의 "겔부피"를 참고함으로써 정량할 수 있다.
본 발명의 목적을 위해, 겔부피는 일정한 중합체 겔화제에 의해 흡수된 합성뇨의 양으로 정의할 수 있으며, 이는 중합체 겔화제 lg당 합성뇨의 그램수로서 나타낸다. 합성뇨에 있어서의 겔부피는 시험하고자 하는 건조된 중합체 겔화제 약 0.l 내지 0.2부와 합성뇨 약 20부와의 현탁물을 형성하므로써 측정할 수 있다.이 현탁물은 주위온도하에서 가볍게 교반하면서 팽창평형을 얻기에 충분한 시간(예를들어, 약 1시간) 동안유지시킨다.
이어서, 현탁물중에 포함된 중합체 겔화제의 중량부 및 현탁물 총부피에 대한 형성된 하이드로겔로부터 배제된 액체 부피의 비율로부터 중합체 겔화제의 겔부피를 중합체 겔화제 1g에 대한 합성뇨의 그램수로서 계산한다.
본 발명의 흡수코어(34)에 사용되는 겔화제의 겔부피는 일반적으로 중합체 겔화제 1g에 대하여 적어도약 20.0g의 합성뇨이다. 보다 바람직하게는, 사용된 물질의 겔부피는 중합체 켈화제 lg에 대하여 약 20.0내지 약 60.0g, 가장 바람직하게는 약 22.0 내지 35.0g의 합성뇨이다.
흡수코어(34) 층을 형성하는 직물내에는, 중합체 겔화제 입자가 빈틈없이 분산되어야 하지만 균일하게 분포될 수도 있고 그렇지 않을 수도 있다. 특히 코어 층의 어떠한 부분은 코어 층의 다른 부분보다 겔화제입자의 농도가 높을 수 있다.
바람직한 태양으로, 본 발명의 생리대(10)는 적어도 약 17.0㎠의 생리대, 보다 바람직하게는 적어도 약50.0㎠의 생리대, 가장 바람직하게는 적어도 약 100.0㎠의 생리대에 전반적으로 하이드로겔-형성 중합체겔화제가 분포된다. 하이드로겔-형성 중합체 겔화제는 바람직하게는 1㎠당 약 0.001 내지 약 0.009g, 보다 바람직하게는 1㎠당 약 0.003 내지 약 0.008g, 가장 바람직하게는 1㎠당 약 0.004내지 약 0.007g의양으로 분포된다.
흡수코어(34)는 바람직하게는 약 5.0 내지 약 85.0중량%, 보다 바람직하게는 약 10.0 내지 약 70.0중량%, 가장 바람직하게는 약 15.0 내지 약 55.0중량%의 하이드로겔-형성 중합체 겔화제를 함유한다.
제2도에 도시된 바람직한 태양으로, 흡수코어(34)는 두개의 공기보유 티슈(40 및 43) 사이에 배열된 초흡수성(superabsorbent) 중합체 물질(37)의 층으로 이루어진 라미네이트이다. 적절한 라미네이트는 그래인 프로세싱 코포레이션(Grain Processing Corporation; Muscatine, Iowa)에서 판매하는 초흡수성 라미네이트 워터-로크(WATER-LOCK) L-535이다(워터-로크는 그래인 프로세싱 코포레이션에 의해 등록된 상표명이다). 이러한 초흡수성 라미네이트는 미합중국 특허 제4,467,012호[1984. 8. 21; Pedersen et al; entitled "Composition For Asborbent Film And Method Of Preparation"] 및 미합중국 특허 제4, 260, 443호[1981. 4. 7; Lindsay et al; entitled "Laminated Absorbent Process"]에 기술되어 있다. 워터-로크 L-535는 1㎠당 0.005g의 하이드로겔 중합체를 함유하지만, 1㎠당 0.00l 내지 0.009g의 함유량도 허용가능한 것으로 밝혀졌다. 제1 및 제2티슈층(40 및 43)은 초흡수성 중합체 물질(37)을 보유하고, 흡수코어(34) 전체에 흡수된 분비물의 측면 재료로 활용되며, 어느 정도의 흡수성을 나타낸다.
섬유성 시이트, 포말 또는 필름으로 헝성할 수 있는 비입자상 하이드로겔-형성 중합체 겔화제의 경우, 비입자상 겔화제는 약 15 내지 약 100중량%, 보다 바람직하게는 약 40 내지 약 100중량%, 가장 바람직하게는 약 60 내지 약 100중량%의 흡수코어(34)를 구성할 수 있다. 이러한 비입자상 초흡수성 물질의 기본중량은 1㎠당 약 0.002 내지 약 0.028g, 보다 바람직하게는 약 0.003 내지 약 0.018g, 가장 바람직하게는 약0.004 내지 약 0.010g일 수 있다. 흡수코어(34)에 적합한 두가지의 시판용 비입자상 흡수재는 촐리 캄파니 리미티드(Choli Company, LTD.; Hagashi, Osaka, Japan)에서 란실(Lmseal) F란 상품명으로 판매 하는 이중층 아크릴성 섬유물질과 헤르큘레스 인코포레이티드(Hercules, Inc.; Wilmington, Delaware)에서 애퀄롱(Acqualon) C란 상품명으로 판매하는 카복실메틸 셀룰로오즈 섬유물질이다.
흡수코어(34)의 총흡수용량은 생리대(10)의 의도된 용도를 위하여 예상 분비물 하중과 잘 맞아야 한다.
또한, 흡수코어(34)의 흡수용량은 분비물의 예상량에 따라 착용자의 편의에 맞게 변화시킬 수 있다. 예를들어, 낮시간에 사용하려고 하는 생리대와 밤시간에 사용하려고 하는 생리대에 대하여 서로 상이한 흡수용량을 사용할 수 있고, 또한 10대 여성과 보다 성숙한 여성이 사용하려고 하는 생리대에 대하여 서로 상이한 흡수용량을 적용시킬 수 있다.
초흡수성 물질이 전혀없고 단지 부직 물질(여기에서, 부직 물질의 두께는 이후에서 정의되는 두께시험으로 측정한 결과, 0.50mm 미만이다.) 위에 중앙흡수 요소가 존재하는 생리대로까지 본 발명의 영역을 확대하려는 의도는 없다는 것을 알아야 한다.
흡수코어(34) 전체와 흡수코어(34)의 테두리(52 및 55) 바깥으로 약 30mm 연장된 부분가지 수분-보유 티슈(31)가 덮혀 있다. 수분-보유 티슈(3l)는 액체 투과성이다. 만족스러운 수분-보유 티슈(31)는 기본 중량이 1㎡당 약 15.8g이고, 공기 투과도가 약 128mm의 물의 압력 변화하에서 1㎡당 매분 약 30.5㎥이다. 수분-보유 티슈(31)는 사용하여 젖어도 원형을 유지하는 것이 바람직하다. 수분-보유 티슈(31)는 횡단방향에서의 습윤 인장강도가 적어도 약 l5.0g/cm인 것이 바람직하다.
적절한 티슈(31)와 그들의 제조방법은 본 발명의 참고문헌인 미합중국 특허 제3, 301, 746호[1967. l. 3l; Sanford and Sisson; entitled "Process For Forming Absorbent Paper By Imprinting A Fabric Knuckle Pat tern Thereon Prior To Drying And Paper Thereof"]에 기술되어 있다. 바람직한 태양으로, 흡수코어(34)의테두리(52 및 55) 바깥으로 연장된 수분-보유 티슈(31)의 이들 부분은 차단시이트(16)와 연결된다. 수분-보유 티슈(31)는 본 분야에 잘 알려진 접착부재(예를들어, 아교분무 또는 접착제 사용)로 차단시이트(16)에 연결시킬 수 있다. 수분-보유 티슈(31)는 많은 목적으로 사용된다. 티슈(31)는 티슈(31)와 차단시이트(16) 사이에 분포되어 있는 초흡수성 물질(37)을 한정하여 초흡수성 물질(37)이 착용자의 피부와 접촉하지 못하도록 막는 작용을 한다. 또한, 티슈(31)는 흡수코어(34) 전체에 흡수된 분비물의 촉면재료로 활용되어 분비물이 흡수코어(34) 전체에 보다 골고루 분포되도록 한다. 또한, 티슈(31)는 약간의 흡수성을 제공하므로, 흡수코어(34)에 도달하여 이미 흡수된 분비물이 착용자의 피부를 재습윤시키는 것을 막는다.
수분-보유 티슈(31)위에는 액체 투과성의 완전흡수 포착시이트(28)가 덮혀 있다. 바람직한 태양으로, 완전흡수 포착시이트(28)는 부직시트이다. 제2도에 도시된 바람직한 태양으로, 시이트(28)는 방적레이스 70%/30% 인견/폴리에스테르 섬유시이트이다. 이러한 유형의 방적 레이스 직물은 이. 아이. 듀퐁 네모스 앤드 캄파니(E. I. Dupont Nemours & Companyl; Wilmington, Delware)에서 제조되어 "손타라(SONTARA)"란 상품명으로 판매되고 있다. 이들 직물은 다수의 적절한 유형으로 판매되고 있지만, 기본 중량이 0.005g/㎠이고 두께가 약 0.04mm인 유공 형태의 스타일 8407이 바람직하다. 완전흡수포착시이트(28)는 수분-보유 티슈(31)의 테두리 바깥으로 연장되어 차단시이트(16)와 연결된다. 완전흡수포착시이트(28)는 흡수코어(34)에 흡수된 분비물의 측면재료로 활용되어 흡수코어(34) 전체에 분비물이 보다 골고루 분포되도록 한다.
완전흡수포착시이트(28)가 측면재료로 작용하는 것은 다음과 같이 이유 때문에 중요하다. 다수의 부피가 큰 선행기술의 생리대는 분비물이 처음에 떨어진 지점에서의 높은 수직적 흡수도에 의존한다. 다시 말하면, 이들 생리대의 흡수코어는 상당히 두껍기 때문에 그들의 두께를 통하여 다량의 분비물을 흡수할 수 있지만, 그들의 표면적이나 측면흡수 용량에 의한 흡수는 별로 유용하지 못하다. 그러나. 두께가 비교적 얇은 본 발명의 생리대(10)는 수직적 흡수도가 상대적으로 낮다. 따라서, 비교적 많은 양의 분비물을 흡수하고자 하는 경우에는, 흡수코어(34)의 넓은 표면적 전체에 분비물을 측면으로 분산시켜 분비물이 보다 빠르고 보다 우수하게 수직적으로 흡수될 수 있게 하는 완전흡수포착시이트(28)가 매우 바람직하다. 또한, 완전흡수 포착시이트(28)는 분비물이 상부시이트(25)상에 떨어지는 시간과 분비물이 흡수코어(34)에 흡수되는 시간간의 시간간격 동안에 상당히 높은 초기 흡수도를 제공한다. 이 성질은 이후에서 보다 상세히 설명된다.
완전흡수포착시이트(28)의 위에는 액체 투과성의 상부시이트(25)가 덮혀 있다. 바람직한 태양으로, 상부시이트(25)는 상부시이트(25)를 아교분무에 의해 완전흡수포착시이트(28)의 표면에 접착시킴으로써 완전흡수 포착시이트(28)와 연결시킨다. 상부시이트(25)는 유연하고, 감촉이 부드러우며, 착용자의 피부를 자극하지 않는다. 또한, 상부시이트(25)는 액체 투과성이므로 액체가 그 두께를 통과하여 쉽게 이동할 수 있도록 한다. 적절한 상부시이트(25)는 중합체 물질, 형성된 열가소성 필름, 유공 플라스틱 필름, 다공성 포말, 망상포말, 천연섬유(예 : 목재 또는 목면섬유), 합성섬유(예 : 폴리에스테르 또는 폴리프로필렌 섬유) 또는 천연섬유와 합성섬유의 조합물과 같은 광범위한 물질로부터 제조할 수 있는데, 상기에서는 유공필름이 바람직하다. 형성된 필름은 액체를 통과시키지만 비흡수성이므로 상부시이트(25)를 제조하는데에 바람직하다. 따라서, 신체와 접촉하는 형성된 필름의 표면은 건조하게 유지되어 신체가 더러워지는 것을 막고 착용자가 보다 안락한 느낌을 갖도록 한다. 적절한 형성된 필름은 본 발명의 참고문헌인 미합중국 특허 제3, 929, 135호[1975. 12. 30; Thompson, entitled "Absorptive Structure Having Tapered Capillaries"], 미합중국 특허 제4, 324, 246호[1982. 4. 13; Mullane and smith, entitled "disposable Absorbent Article Having A Stain Resistant To psheet"], 미합중국 특허 제4, 342, 314호[1982. 8. 3; Radel and Thompson; entitled ''Resilient Plastic Web Exhibiting Fiber-Like Properties"] 및 미합중국 특허 제4, 463, 045호[1984. 7. 31; Ahr, Louis, Mullane and Ouellete; entitled "Macroscopically Expanded Three-Dimensional Plastic Web Exhibiting Non-Glossy Visible Surface and Colth-Like Tactile Impression"]에 기술되어 있다.
본 발명의 바람직한 태양으로, 상부시이트(25)의 신체표면(26)은 친수성이다. 친수성 신체표면(26)은 신체표면(26)이 친수성이 아닌 경우에 비하여 액체가 보다 빨리 상부시이트(%)를 통과하여 이동하도록 돕는다.
이는 월경액이 흡수코어(34)에 흡수되지 않고 상부시이트(25)를 홀러넘칠 수 있는 가능성을 저하시킨다. 바람직한 태양으로 상부시이트(25)의 신체표면(26)은 신체표면(26)을 계면활성제로 처리함으로써 친수성으로 만든다. 계면활성제는 상부시이트(25)의 신체표면(26) 전체에 거의 균일하고 완벽하게 분포되는 것이 바람직하다. 이는 본 분야의 숙련가에게 잘 알려진 일반적인 방법으로 수행할 수 있다. 예를들어, 계면활성제는 분무, 패딩(padding) 또는 이동 롤(transfer rol1)을 사용함으로써 상부시이트(25)에 적용시킬 수 있다. 또한, 계면활성제를 형성된 필름 상부시이트의 중합체 물질에 혼입시키거나, 부직 상부시이트의 섬유 사이에 중합체 물질에 혼입시키거나, 부직 상부시이트의 섬유 사이에 또는 섬유내에 혼입시킬 수 있다.
차단부재(16)는 흡수부재(13)의 제2주표면(22)과 인접하게 위치한다. 바람직한 태양으로, 흡수부재(13)는 흡수부재(13)의 제2주표면(22)상에서 차단부재(16)에 부착된다. 아교를 분무하거나 접착제로 접착시키는 것과 같은 본 분야에 잘 알려져 있는 일반적인 방법이라면 어떠한 것이라도 이러한 목적에 이용할 수 있다. 차단부재(16)는 일반적으로 생리대(10)의 의복표면(17)을 한정한다. 차단부재(16)는 액체를 투과시키지 않고 흡수부재(l3)에 흡수 및 보유된 분비물이 생리대(10)의 의복표면(l7)과 접촉하는 제품(예를들어, 팬티)을 오염시키지 않도록 하는 수단이면 어떠한 것이라도 무방하다. 제1도 및 제2도에 도시된 생리대(10)의 바람직한 태양으로, 차단부재(16)는 얇은 플라스틱 필름으로부터 제조된 차단시이트이다. 기타의 유연한 액체 불투과성 물질도 역시 사용할 수 있다. 차단시이트(16)는 두께가 약 0.012 내지 약 0.051mm인 폴리에틸렌 필름이 바람직하다. 여기에서 사용되는 용어 "유연한"은 손조작에 따라 변형이 잘되고 인체의 일반적인 형태와 윤곽에 쉽게 적응되는 물질을 언급한다.
적절한 폴리에틸렌 필름은 몬산토 케미칼 코포레이션(Monsanto Chemical Corporation)에서 제조하여 필름번호 8020(Film No. 8020)이란 상표로 판매하고 있다. 차단부재(16)는 엠보싱(embossing) 가공 및/또는 매트(matte) 가공을 하여 보다 더 의복과 유사한 형태를 갖도록 하는 것이 바람직하다. 또한, 차단부재(16)는 분비물이 차단부재(16)를 통과할 수 없도록 막는 한편, 흡수부재(13)로부터 증기가 방출되는 것은 허용한다.
상부시이트(25)와 차단시이트(l6)의 길이와 너비가 일반적으로 흡수코어(34)보다 커서 그들이 흡수코어(34)의 테두리(52 및 55) 바깥으로 연장되어 거기에서 적절한 방식으로 함께 연결되는 것이 바람직하다. 여기에서 사용되는 용어 "연결되는"은 첫번째 요소를 두번째 요소에 직접 결합시킨 형태, 및 첫번째 요소를 중간요소에 부착시키고 중간요소를 다시 두번째 요소에 부착시킴으로써 첫번째 요소를 두번째 요소에 간접적으로 결합시킨 형태를 모두 포함한다. 상부시이트(25) 및/또는 차단시이트(16)를 흡수코어(34)의 코어 말단 테두리(52)와 코어 측면 테두리(55) 바깥으로 연장시키면, 생리대(10)의 말단 테두리(11)와 측면 테두리(12)가 각각 형성된다. 바람직한 태양으로, 차단시이트(16)와 상부시이트(25)는 타원형이고, 흡수코어(34) 바깥으로 적어도 약 10cm 정도의 간격만콤 연장되어 거기에서 차단시이트(16)와 상부시이트(5)는 본 분야에 잘 알려진 접착부재에 의해 서로 직접 연결된다. 접착부재는 예를들어, 접착제를 균일하게 연속적으로 적용시키거나, 접착제를 일정한 무늬로 적용시키거나, 또는 접착제를 별개의 선 또는 반점 형태로 배열하는 방법이다.
본 발명의 생리대(10)는 굴곡저항이 낮다. 따라서, 본 발명의 생리대(10)는 대단히 유연하고 여성 비뇨생식부의 여러가지 형태에 매우 잘 적응된다. 본 발명의 생리대(10)의 굴곡저항이 바람직하게는 약 300.0g 미만, 보다 바람직하게는 약 250.0g 미만, 훨씬 더 바람직하게는 약 175.0g 미만, 가장 바람직하게는 약 130.0g 미만이다.
생리대의 굴곡저항은 최고 굴곡강도(peak bending stiffness)로 측정한다. 최고 굴곡강도는 ASTM D4032-82 원형 굴곡시험(CIRCULAR BEND PROCEDURE, 이 방법은 이후에서와 같이 상당히 변형하여 수행한다.) 이후에 모형화된 시험으로 확인된다. 원형 굴곡시험은 물질이 동시에 여러방향으로 변형되는 것으로서, 이때 시험편의 한면은 볼록하게 되고 다른 한면은 오목하게 된다. 원형 굴곡시험은 굴곡강도에 관계된 힘의 값을 제공하며, 동시에 모든 방향에서의 경질을 평균한다.
기구; 원형 굴곡 시험에 필요한 기구는 하기의 부품이 장치된 변형된 원형 굴곡강도(modified circular bend stiffness) 시험기이다.
직경 18.75mm의 구멍을 갖는 102.0×l02.0×6.35mm 크기의 부드럽게 연마된 강철판 플랫폼.
구멍의 랩 에이지(lap edge)는 475mm의 깊이까지 45°각도이어야 한다. 전체길이가 72.2mm이고, 직경이 62.5mm이며, 반경 2.97mm의 볼 노우즈(ball nose) 및 그로부터 0.88mm 연장되고 기본 직경이 0.33mm인 니들-포인트(needle-point)(포인트의 반경은 0.5mm미만이다)를 갖는 플런저(plunger).
플런저는 구멍과 중심을 같이하여 올라가고, 모든 측면에서 동일한 여유공간을 갖는다.
니들-포인트는 단순히 시험이 진행되는 동안에 시험편이 바깥쪽으로 이동하는 것을 막기 위한 것이다. 따라서, 니들-포인트가 시험편에 상당히 나쁜 영향을 미치는 경우(예를들어, 팽창가능한 구조에 구멍을 뚫는 경우)에는 니들-포인트를 사용해서는 안된다. 플런저의 바닥은 구멍판의 상부에 잘 고정시켜야 한다. 이 위치로부터, 볼 노우즈를 아랫쪽으로 찌르면 구멍판의 바닥에 정확히 닿는다.

시험편의 갯수와 제조 :
이 시험공정을 수행하기 위하여, 하기에 설명되는 바와같이 5개의 대표적인 생리대가 필요하다. 시험하려고 하는 5개의 생리대중 하나로부터, "Y"개의 37.5×37.5mm 시험편을 절단한다. 상부시이트가 차단시이트에 직접 결합된 부분을 갖거나 상부시이트, 2개 이하의 티슈시이트 및 차단시이트로 구성된 라미네이트 부분을 갖는 시험편을 시험해서는 안된다.
이 시험편을 시험하지 않는 이유는 생리대의 주변 둘레에서 상부시이트가 흡수코어 테두리 바깥의 차단시이트와 연결되는(이 부분은 대단히 유연하다) 선행기술의 생리대가 존재하는 것으로 인정될 수 있기 때문이다. 그러나, 본 발명은 생리대의 전체적인 유연성을 보다 중요시하고, 그의 주변 둘레 부분만을 중요시하지는 않으며, 따라서 본 발명은 생리대의 흡수성이 높은 부분의 유연성을 보다 중요시 한다. 생리대의 이들 중요 흡수부분들중 어느 것이라도 이 시험의 변수에 부응하면, 생리대는 이 시험을 만족한다. 따라서, 각 생리대로부터 다수의 상이한 시험편을 시험해야 한다. 상기에서 제외한 부분이외의 생리대의 구조적으로 가장 유연한 부분을 시험해야 한다. 시험자는 시험편을 접거나 구부려서는 안되고, 굴곡-저항특성에 영향을 미치지 않도록 시험편의 취급은 최소한으로 해야하며 가장자리를 잡고 다루어야 한다. 나머지 4개의 생리대로부터, 첫번째 생리대로부터 절단한 시험편과 동일한 갯수인 ''Y''개의 37.5×37.5mm 시험편을 절단한다. 따라서, 시험자는 5개의 동일한 "Y"개 시험편 셋트를 가져야 한다.
방법 :
원형 굴곡 시험의 방법은 다음과 같다. 시험편을 온도가 21±1℃이고 상대습도가 50±2%인 방에 2시간동안 방치시킴으로써 상태를 조절한다. 시험판을 수평으로 한다. 플런저 속도를 전체 스트로크(stroke) 길이에 대하여 매분 50.0cm로 고정시킨다. 시험편을 플런저 아래의 구멍 플랫폼 중앙에 놓아 시험편의 신체표면(26)이 플런저와 마주보고 시험편의 의복표면(17)이 플랫폼과 마주보게 한다. 지시침(indicator)이 0에 있는지를 검사하고 필요에 따라 조정한다. 플런저를 작동시킨다. 시험하는 동안, 시험편에손을 대지 말아야한다. 최대힘을 가장 근접한 g수로 읽고 기록한다. 5개의 동일한 시험편을 모두 시험할때까지 상기의 단계를 반복한다.
계산 각 시험편의 최대 굴곡강도는 각 시험핀의 최대 힘 수치이다. 5개의 동일한 "Y"개 시험편 세트를 절단하는 것을 기억해야 한다. 5개의 동일한 시험편 셋트를 각각 시험하고, 각 셋트에 대해 얻은 5개 값을 평균한다. 따라서, 시험자는 각각의 "Y"개 셋트를 시험한 평균치를 갖게 된다. 생리대의 중요 흡수부분중 어느것이라도 필요한 굴곡-저항을 갖는다면, 생리대는 이 시험의 변수를 만족한다. 따라서, 특별히 고안된 생리대의 굴곡-저항은 이들 평균 최대굴곡강도의 최대치이다.
상기에서 언급한 바와 같이, 상부시이트(25)와 완전흡수포착시이트(28)를 결합시키면 생리대(10)에 다소의 유리한 성질이 부여된다. 특히, 유공 부직 완전흡수포착시이트(28)위에 겹쳐진 유공필름 상부시이트(25)의 결합이 유리하다. 바람직한 완전흡수포착시이트(28)는 이미 기술한 손타라 8407이다. 제3도에는 이러한 배열이 확대되어 도시되어 있다. 이러한 결합은 시이트(28)의 섬유다발(89)이 형성된 필름 상부시이트(25)의 몇몇 구멍(83) 아래에는 존재하지 않고(즉, 두 시이트(25 및 28)의 구멍이 일직선상에 존재하고) 형성된 필름 상부시이트(25)의 다른 구멍아래에는 부직 시이트(28)의 섬유다발(89)이 존재하도록(즉, 두 시이트(25 및 28)의 구멍이 일직선상에 존재하지 않도록) 부직 완전흡수포착시이트(28)가 형성 또는 위치된 경우에 훨씬 더 유리하다. 이러한 배열은 부직 시이트(28)의 구멍(86)이 형성된 필름 상부시이트(25)의 구멍(83)보다 큰 제3도의 그림으로부터 쉽게 알 수 있다. 이러한 배열은 생리대(10)에 적어도 두가지의 유리한 특성을 부여한다: 분출(gush) 포착의 중강 및 완전흡수포착의 증강·분출포착은 상부시이트(25)의 구멍(83)이 부직완전흡수포착시이트(28)의 구멍과 일직선상에 존재하는 지점에서 증강된다. 이들 구멍(83과 86)이 일직선상에 존재하면, 분비물이 상부시이트(25)의 신체접촉표면(26)으로부터 생리대(10)의 중앙흡수재로 유동하는 직선통로가 제공된다. 또한, 이들 구멍은 액체가 흡수될 때까지 그들의 벽 또는 경계면내에 얼마간의 액체를 보유할 수 있다. 착용자의 피부로부터 생리대(10)의 흡수재속으로 액체 분비물을 빨아들이는 능력인 완전흡수포착은 부직 완전흡수포착시이트(28)의 섬유다발(89)이 상부시이트(25)의 구멍(83) 아래에 존재하는 지점에서 증강된다.
상기에서 언급한 바와같이, 완전흡수포착은 상부시이트(25)가 착용자 피부상의 분비물과 접촉하는 지점에서 중요하다. 이러한 지점에서는, 생리대가 착용자의 신체로부터 압박을 받기 쉽다. 이러한 경우, 상부시이트(25)의 구멍(83) 아래에 존재하는 부직 완전흡수포착시이트(28)의 섬유다발(89)이 상부시이트(25)의 구멍쪽으로 약간의 힘을 받아 착용자의 피부에 보다 접근하게 된다. 섬유다발(89)과 구멍(83)의 벽사이 또는 섬유다발(89)들의 섬유사이에 존재하는 공간은 단지 구멍(83)의 벽들 사이에 존재하는 공간보다 좁다. 이들 공간은 모세관이다. 본 분야에 잘 알려져 있는 바와 같이, 모세관의 직경이 감소할수록 모세관 작용은 증가한다. 따라서, 섬유다발(89)이 존재하는 이들 구멍(83)에서의 모세관 작용은 증가하고, 생리대(10)는 분비물을 착용자의 피부로부터 이들 모세관 속으로 보다 잘 빨아들여 결국 생리대(10)의 중앙 흡수재속으로 보다 잘 흡수시킨다.
상부시이트(25)의 구멍(83)은 모두 번호 "83"으로 나타내지만, 다음과 같은 표시목적을 위하여, 이 특정한 번호는 제3도에서 "83"으로 특별히 기재 및 표시한 구멍을 나타내기로 한다. 특별히 기재한 구멍은 상부시이트(25)의 구멍이 부직 완전흡수포착시이트(28의 구멍(86)과 일직선상에 존재하는 한 예이다. 이론적으로, 이러한 구멍은 분비물이 상부시이트(25)의 신체표면(26)으로부터 중앙 흡수재쪽으로 유동하는 것을 방해하지 않기 때문에 분출 포착에 유용하다(도시되지 않음). 이번에는, 방금 언급한 특정한 구멍 83의 바로 오른쪽에 있는 구멍(83)에 관해 생각해 보기로 한다. 도시된 바와 같이, 이 구멍(83)은 부직 완전흡수포착시이트(28)의 섬유다발(89)위에 존재한다. 이론적으로, 구멍(83)속으로 홀러들어간 분비물은 섬유다발(89)의 모세관속으로 들어간다. 이어서, 이 분비물은 중앙 흡수재속으로 흡수되거나, 또는 분비물이 보다 바깥쪽으로 떨어진 부분의 중앙 흡수재속으로 흡수될때까지 섬유다발(89)를 가로지르고 또다시 다른 섬유다발(89)을 가로질러가는 작용이 반복된다. 그러므로, 흡수재의 총 흡수용량의 보다 많은 부분이 활용될 수 있다.
상기에서 언급한 바와같이, 본 발명의 생리대(10)는 중간 내지 많은 양의 월경을 흡수하기에 충분히 큰 액체 용량을 갖는다. 생리대의 크기에 따라 동일할 수도 있는 두가지 용량을 측정할 수 있는데, 그들은 시험용량과 총 용량이다. 본 발명의 생리대(10)는 시험용량이 바람직하게는 적어도 약 8.0g, 보다 바람직하게는 적어도 약 15.0g, 가장 바람직하게는 적어도 약 18.0g이다. 본 발명에 따른 생리대(10)의 총 용량은 바람직하게는 적어도 약 20.0g, 보다 바람직하게는 적어도 약 30.0g, 가장 바람직하게는 적어도 약 40.0g이다.
생리대의 시험용량과 총용량은 다음과 같이 측정한다: 시험하고자 하는 생리대로부터 팬티접착용 제거띠를 떼어 낸다. 생리대를 착용하였을 때 질구 중앙에 위치하게 되는 생리대 부위로부터 4.75×14.0cm 크기의 부분 또는 66.5㎠ 크기의 다른 형태로 절단하여 시험용량을 측정한다. 총용량은 제거띠를 떼어낸 생리대 전체를 사용하여 측정한다. 제품을 가장 근접한 0.1g까지 중량을 잰다. 이어서, 이를 멸균염수[박스터 트라베놀 캄파니(Baxter Travenol Company; Deerfield, Illinois)에서 시판함]가 든 비이커에 담근다 이때, 제품이 염수속에 완전히 담그어지도록 하고, 구부러지거나 꼬이거나 또는 접히지 않도록 한다. 제품을 10분동안 담구어 둔다. 염수로부터 제품을 꺼낸 다음, 2분동안 세로로 매달아 두어 염수를 제거한다. 이어서, 제품을 신체접촉면이 아래로 가도록 흡수성 압지[예를들어, 여과지 #63l(필터레이션 사이언스 코포레이션(Filt ration Science Corp.; Eaton-Dikeman Division of Mount Holly Springs, Pennsylvania)에서 판매함)]위에 놓아둔다. 17.6g/cm의 균일한 하중을 제품에 가하여 여분의 액체를 제거한다. 흡수성 압지에 옮겨지는 액체의 양이 30초동안에 0.5g 미만으로 될 때까지 30초마다 한번썩 흡수성 압지를 적용시킨다. 이어서, 제품의 중량을 가장 근접한 0.1g까지 재고, 제품의 건조 중량을 뺀다. 그 차이(단위 : g)가 경우에 관계없이 제품의 시험 또는 총용량이다.
본 발명에 따른 생리대(10)에 있어서, 흡수재의 중앙 흡수너비(63)는 중요한 변수이다. 용어 "중앙 흡수 너비"는 하기와 같이 측정할 수 있는 생리대(10)의 특정면적이다(번호는 제5도 참조). 착용시에 질구 중앙에 위치하는 생리대(10)상의 한점(64)을 찾아낸다.
점(64)으로부터 착용자의 치골 방향으로 3.75cm 떨어지고 측면 중앙선(61)에 평행한 평면(65)을 찾아낸다. 측면 중앙선(61)에 평행하고 점(64)으로부더 착용자의 엉덩이 쪽으로 5.0cm 떨어진 지점에 위치하는 또 하나의 평면(66)을 찾아낸다. 두 평면(65 및 66) 사이에서 흡수속도가 가장 빠르고 압박을 받지 않으며 손으로 다루어지지 않는 생리대(10) 흡수재의 측면너비가 생리대(10)의 중앙 흡수너비(63)이다. 흡수개가 단일 시이트인지, 중복 시이트인지 또는 엇물린(staggered) 시이트인지의 여부는 중요하지 않으며, 흡수재가 부직시이트인지, 흡수성 상부시이트인지, 흡수코어인지, 티슈인지 또는 합성 스테플 섬유인지 등의 여부도 중요하지 않는다. 예를들어, 본 발명의 생리대(10)는 너비가 약 7.75cm인 수분-보유 티슈(31) 또는 완전흡수포착시이트(28), 및 너비가 약 3.8cm인 흡수코어(34)를 갖는다. 따라서, 이 예에서 생리대(10)의 중앙흡수너비(63)는 7.75cm이다.
생리대(l0)는 착용자 속옷의 가랭이 너비에 맞추어 크기를 정하는 것이 바람직하다. 속옷 가랭이의 가장자리를 포함하는 흡수수단(13)과 일치하는 중앙흡수너비(63)를 갖는 생리대(10)가 특히 바람직하다. 속옷가랭이의 너비가 약 3.7 내지 6.4cm로 비교적 좁은 경우에는, 중앙흡수너비(63)가 약 3.7 내지 약 6.4cm인 생리대가 적합하다.
생리대(10)의 전체너비는 중앙흡수너비(63)에 맞추어 정하며, 이는 상부시이트(25)와 차단시이트(16)의 가장자리를 함께 연결하기 위하여 추가의 테두리가 필요하므로 중앙흡수너비(63) 보다 약 0.6 내지 1.0cm정도 넓어야 한다. 일반적으로, 상부시이트(25)와 차단시이트(16)를 연결시키기 위해서는 생리대(10)의 각 테두리에서 약 0.3 내지 약 0.5cm의 여분이 필요하다. 따라서, 중앙흡수너비(63)가 약 3.7 내지 약 6.4cm인 생리대는 전체 너비가 약 4.3 내지 4.7cm에서 약 7.0 내지 7.4cm까지의 범위에 속한다.
가랭이 너비가 비교적 넓은 속옷에 적합한 본 발명의 한 태양에 따른 생리대(10)은 중앙흡수너비(63)가 적어도 약 6.5cm이어야 하고, 바람직하게는 적어도 약 7.0cm, 보다 바람직하게는 적어도 약 7.75cm, 가장 바람직하게는 약 9.0cm이어야 한다.
생리대(10)의 중앙흡수너비(63)가 감소함에 따라, 상기에서 언급한 시험방법으로 측정한 총용량은 생리대(10)의 길이를 세로방향으로 연장하지 않는한 비례적으로 감소한다. 길이를 지나치게 늘린 패드는 착용하기에 안락하지 않으므로 중앙흡수너비(63)가 약 6.2cm 이하인 패드가 감소된 총용량을 갖는 것이 허용될 수 있다. 이러한 경우, 총용량이 약 14g인 생리대(10)가 적합한 것으로 밝혀졌다.
본 발명에 따른 생리대(10)의 중앙흡수너비(63)는 다음과 같은 이유 때문에 중요한 것으로 생각된다. 상기에서 이미 언급한 바와같이, 본 발명의 생리대(10)는 많은 선행기술의 생리대에 있어서 일반적인 고도의 수직 흡수에 의존하기 보다는 흡수코어(34)의 비교적 넓은 표면적 전체에서의 분비물의 측면분포에 더욱 의존한다. 따라서, 상부시이트(25)상에 분포된 분비물은 상부시이트(25)를 가로질러 이동하기 전에 재빨리 흡수되지 않으므로, 흡수될때까지 이러한 분비물을 보유하는 것이 중요하다.
본 발명에 따른 생리대(10)의 중앙흡수너비(63)는 적어도 흡수재의 가장자리가 가랭이에서 착용자 다리의 가장 윗부분에 위치하도록 질구부위의 음순주변에 오목하게 받치는 유연한 생리대의 너비를 기준으로하여 측정하였다.
따라서, 생리대(10)와 흡수재는 질구주변에서 오목한 형태를 이루며, 거기에 떨어진 분비물은 흡수될때까지 보유된다.
본 발명의 생리대(10)는 유연성이 요구되므로, 본 발명의 생리대(10)는 비교적 얇은 경향이 있다. 본 발명의 생리대(10)는 생리대(10)가 부담스럽지 않고 사용자가 착용하는 동안 착용감을 적게 느낄 수 있도록 얇은 두께를 유지하는 것이 바람직하다. 제1도 및 제2도에 도시된 생리대(10)는 두께가 약 1.9mm이다. 생리대(10)의 두께는 하기의 시험으로 측정한다.
비교측정기, 특히 다이알 지표 모델 482를 갖는 아메스, 모델 130(Ames, Model 130)[비. 씨. 아메스, 캄파니(B. C. Ames, Company; Waltham, Massachusetts)에서 판매함)이 필요하다. 비교측정기는 알루미늄으로 제조되고 중량이 100g이고 접촉표면적이 5.16㎠인 원형 비교측정 푸트(foot)를 가져야 한다. 비교측정기를 0에 맞춘다. 비교측정 다이알위에 뻗어있는 스핀들(spindle)상에 80.0g의 스테인레스 강철을 놓는다. 비교측정 푸트를 올리고, 팬티접착용 제거띠를 떼어낸 생리대를 그의 의복표면이 아래로 향하게 하여 기준판 위에 놓는다. 푸트를 낮추었을 때에 생리대의 중앙에 위치할 수 있도록 생리대를 기준판위에 위치시킨다. 생리대에 주름이 생기지 않도록 한다. 푸트를 생리대 상에 조심스럽게 낮춘다. 푸트가 생리대와 접촉한 후 30초만에 비교측정 다이알을 읽음으로써 생리대의 두께를 측정한다. 흡수재의 각 말단으로부터 생리대의 세로방향 중앙선(58)을 따라 30cm 측정을 반복한다. 3회 눈금측정치의 평균이 생리대의 두께이다. 본 발명의 생리대(10)는 두께가 바람직하게는 약 2.2mm 미만, 가장 바람직하게는 약 2.0mm 미만이다. 본 발명에 따른 생리대(10)의 두께는 증가시킬 수 있으며, 보다 덜 바람직한 태양으로 굴곡-저항의 증가에 비례한다. 굴곡저항이 약 400g 보다 큰 값으로 증가하거나 또는 약 500g 보다 큰 값으로 훨씬 더 증가하면 구경은 약 4.0 내지 약 5.0mm 정도로 증가할 수 있지만, 약 3.0mm 이하가 바람직하다.
본 발명에 따른 생리대(10)의 또다른 태양은 제4도에 도시된 바와 같다. 이 태양에 있어서, 생리대(10)는 2개의 플랩(70)을 갖는데, 이들 플랩은 각각 흡수코어(34)의 측면 테두리(55)와 인접하며 그로부터 측면으로 연장된다. 플랩(70)은 가랭이 부분에서 착용자의 팬티 가장자리를 감싸서 착용자의 팬티 가장자리와 넓적다리 사이에 플랩이 위치하도록 고안된다. 플랩(70)은 적어도 두가지의 목적으로 사용된다. 첫째, 플랩(70)은 월경액에 의해 착용자의 신체와 팬티가 더럽혀지는 것을 막는 작용을 한다. 둘째, 플랩(70)은 그들의 의복 표면(17)상에 접착수단(71)을 갖추고 있어서 플랩(70)이 팬티 아래에서 뒤로 접혀 팬티의 의복과 맞닿는 면에 접착될 수 있도록 하는 것이 바람직하다. 이러한 방식으로, 플랩(70)은 생리대(10)가 팬티의 적절한 위치에 유지되도록 한다. 바람직한 접착수단(71)은 본 분야에 잘 알려져 있는 감압성(pressure-sensitive) 접착제이다. 또한, 플랩(70)을 팬티에 접착시키지 않고 접착수단(71)에 의해 팬티 뒷면에서 서로 접착시킬 수도 있다.

Claims (1)

  1. 길이, 폭 및 측면 테두리를 가지며; 유체 투과성 상부시이트, 의복 접촉면을 가지며 상기 측면 테두리를 따라서 상기 상부시이트와 최소한 부분적으로 둘레에 결합되어 있는 유체 불투과성 배면시이트, 상기 배면시이트의 상기 의복 접촉면을 여성 착용자의 팬티에 부착시키기 위한 수단(이 부착수단은 상기 배면시이트상에서 종방향으로 연장되어 있고 생리대의 상기 측면 테두리와 접촉하고 있다), 및 질구 둘레 부위에서 착용자의 음순 주위에 들어가기에 충분한 중앙 흡수 폭을 가지며, 횡 기계방향으로 100g/cm 이상의 습윤 인장갈껌도를 갖는 흡수코어(이 흡수코어는 일체성을 가지며 사용중에 회수하도록 하게끔 상기 배면시이트와 결합되어 있다)를 포함하는, 상기 상부시이트와 상기 배면시이트의 중간에 있는 흡수수단을 포함하며; 3.0mm 이하의 두께, 8g 이상의 시험 용량, 20g 이상의 총용량 및 400g 이하의 굴곡 저항성을 가지며; 사용중에 여성 착용자의 비뇨생식기 부위에 실절적으로 꼭맞게 되어 있는, 여성 착용자의 팬티에 착용하기에적합하고 상기 착용자의 비뇨생식기 부위 주위에 위치되어 있고 신체 분비물을 흡수할 수 있는 생리대.
