Claims (16)
- 화소마다 형성된 복수의 화소 전극과, 상기 복수의 화소 전극에 대향하여 형성된 대향 전극에 의해서 액정의 배향을 제어하는 액정 표시 장치에 있어서,1개의 화소 내에서 액정의 배향 방향을 복수로 분할하는 배향 분할 수단을 구비하고,상기 배향 분할 수단에 의해서 생기는 배향 방향의 경계에 중첩하여 차광성의 막이 배치되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제1항에 있어서, 서로 대향하여 배치된 제1 및 제2 기판 간에 액정을 봉입하여 이루어지며, 상기 제1 기판에는 게이트 신호선 및 드레인 신호선이 배치되며, 상기 게이트 신호선 및 드레인 신호선에 접속된 스위칭 소자를 더 구비하고,상기 화소 전극은 상기 스위칭 소자에 접속되며, 상기 대향 전극은 상기 제2 기판에 형성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제2항에 있어서, 상기 배향 분할 수단은, 상기 화소 전극 또는/및 상기 대향 전극의 법선에 대하여 기울어진 전계에 의해서 액정의 배향 방향을 분할하는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제1항 내지 제3항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 상기 차광성의 막은 금속으로 이루어지는 도전체인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제4항에 있어서, 상기 차광성의 막은 상기 드레인 신호선인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제4항에 있어서, 상기 액정과 병렬로 접속된 보조 용량을 형성하는 보조 용량 전극을 더 구비하고,상기 차광성의 막은 상기 보조 용량 전극인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제1항 내지 제6항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 상기 액정은 마이너스의 유전율 이방성을 가지며, 상기 화소 전극을 덮어서 수직 배향막이 형성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제3항에 있어서, 상기 배향 분할 수단은 상기 대향 전극의 상기 화소 전극과 중첩 위치에 형성된 상기 대향 전극이 개구되어 이루어지는 배향 제어창인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제3항에 있어서, 상기 배향 분할 수단은 상기 화소 전극 위 또는/및 상기 대향 전극 상에 형성된 배향 제어 경사부인 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제9항에 있어서, 상기 배향 제어 경사부는 상기 화소 전극 위 또는/및 상기 대향 전극 상에 형성된 절연체로 이루어지는 돌기부에 기인하여 형성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제9항에 있어서, 상기 배향 제어 경사부는 상기 화소 전극과 상기 제1 기판 간 또는/및 상기 대향 전극과 상기 제2 기판 간에 형성된 절연체로 이루어지는 돌기부에 기인하여 형성되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 액정 표시 장치에 있어서,서로 대향하여 배치된 제1 및 제2 기판 간에 액정을 봉입하고 있으며, 상기 제1 기판에는 게이트 신호선 및 드레인 신호선에 접속된 스위칭 소자,상기 스위칭 소자에 접속되어, 도전성 재료로 이루어지는 화소 전극, 및상기 액정을 배향하는 수직 배향막을 구비하고,상기 제2 기판에는 상기 액정의 배향을 제어하고 상기 화소 전극과 중첩하는 위치에 배향 제어창이 설치된 대향 전극 및 상기 수직 배향막을 구비하고 있으며,상기 제1 기판 상에는 상기 배향 제어창과 중첩하는 위치에 상기 드레인 신호선을 설치한 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 액정 표시 장치에 있어서,서로 대향하여 배치된 제1 및 제2 기판 간에 액정을 봉입하고 있으며, 상기 제1 기판에는 게이트 신호선 및 드레인 신호선에 접속된 스위칭 소자,상기 스위칭 소자에 접속되어, 도전성 재료로 이루어지는 화소 전극,상기 스위칭 소자의 반도체층 간에 보조 용량을 형성하는 보조 용량 신호선, 및상기 액정을 배향하는 수직 배향막을 구비하고,상기 제2 기판에는 상기 액정의 배향을 제어하여 상기 화소 전극과 중첩하는 위치에 배향 제어창이 설치된 대향 전극 및 상기 수직 배향막을 구비하고 있으며,상기 제1 기판 상에는 상기 배향 제어창과 중첩하는 위치에 상기 게이트 신호선 및 보조 용량 신호선의 일부 및 드레인 신호선을 설치한 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제7항, 제12항, 및 제13항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 상기 배향 제어창의 폭과, 상기 게이트 신호선 및 보조 용량 신호선의 일부 및 드레인 신호선의 폭이 다른 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제1항 내지 제14항 중 어느 한 항에 있어서, 상기 화소 전극은 행렬 형태로 배치되며,상기 드레인 신호선은 동일한 열의 복수의 화소 전극에 상기 스위칭 소자를 통하여 접속되어 있으며,동일한 상기 드레인 신호선에 접속되어 인접하는 행의 상기 화소 전극은, 서로 상기 게이트 신호선의 연장 방향으로 1.5화소분보다도 작은 폭만큼 어긋나서 배치되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
- 제15항에 있어서, 인접하는 행의 상기 화소 전극은 서로 거의 1.2화소분만큼 어긋나서 배치되어 있는 것을 특징으로 하는 액정 표시 장치.
