Abstract

(57)【要約】 【課題】 種々のプリントモ−ドや拡張機能等、提供し
たサ−ビスに応じた課金を自動的に行えるようにした。 【解決手段】 ネットワ−クを介して接続されるホスト
とプリンタ装置とから構成されるプリンタシステムであ
って、前記プリンタは各種動作モ−ドを実行し得るとと
もに、実行した動作モ−ドに応じた課金を行う課金手段
を有し、前記ホストからの動作モ−ドの指定に応じて所
定の動作を実行するとともに、前記ホストに課金金額を
返信することを特徴とするプリンタシステム。

Description

【発明の詳細な説明】
【０００１】
【発明の属する技術分野】本発明は、プリンタシステム
に関し、特に画像、文書に出力時に用いられた各種の固
有機能の使用価値に応じて課金を行えるようにしたもの
である。

【従来の技術】従来から、コピ−ショップ等においては
オペレ−タやユ−ザがコピ−したペ−ジ数や部数等の枚
数をカウントし、これに応じた課金が行われていた。
【０００３】
【発明が解決しようとしている課題】ところで、従来の
課金方式においては複写機等が実行する固有機能に対し
ては特に課金の対象とされていなかった。
【０００４】しかしながら、近年のデジタル複写機は自
動両面印刷、自動ソ−ト、自動ステ−プル等の付加価値
を高める各種固有機能を備えており、ユ−ザは目的に応
じて各種の処理を設定して付加価値を付加することがで
きるようになった。
【０００５】そこで、本件発明はそのような付加価値に
対しても正当な課金を行うことができるようにすること
を目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】本発明は、上記目的を達
成するために、所定のプリントモ−ドや使用した処理機
能、あるいはプリント実行時等に応じて課金する課金手
段を備えたことを特徴とするプリントシステム、を提供
するものである。
【０００７】また、本発明は上記目的を達成するため
に、提供した各種サ−ビスに応じて課金を行う課金手段
を備えたことを特徴とするプリントシステムを提供する
ものである。

【発明の実施の形態】以下、本発明の好適な第１の実施
例を説明する。
【０００９】本実施例はデジタルカラ−複写機１００、
画像処理装置１０１及び複数のホストコンピュ−タ１０
２から構成されるコピ−システムに本発明を適用したも
のであり、上記デジタルカラ−複写機１００と画像処理
装置１０１とは専用インタフェ−スを介して接続され、
ホストコンピュ−タ１０２と画像処理装置１０１とはイ
−サネット等のネットワ−ク及び汎用インタフェ−スを
介して接続され、ホストコンピュ−タ１０２からデジタ
ル複写機１００へのイメ−ジ又はテキストデ−タ（ＰＤ
Ｌデ−タ）の転送、各種機能の指示は画像処理装置１０
１を介して行われるようになっている。
【００１０】また、本実施例において、上記デジタルカ
ラ−複写機１００は本来のフルカラ−コピ−機能、モノ
クロカラ−コピ−機能、三色コピ−機能、ツインカラ−
コピ−機能等の各種コピ−機能の他に両面印刷機能、ソ
−ト機能、ステ−プル機能、プレビュ−機能及びカラ−
コピ−領域指定機能等の各種拡張機能を有しており、そ
れら機能は上記ホストコンピュ−タ１０２からも画像処
理装置１０１を介して指定できるようになっている。
【００１１】なお、上記フルカラ−コピ−機能はＹ（イ
エロ−）、Ｍ（マゼンタ）、Ｃ（シアン）、Ｋ（ブラッ
ク）を用いてフルカラ−コピ−を実現する機能であり、
モノクロカラ−コピ−機能はＫのみを用いてモノクロコ
ピ−を実現する機能であり、三色コピ−機能はＹ、Ｍ、
Ｃを用いてカラ−コピ−を実現する機能であり、ツイン
カラ−コピ−機能はＲ（レッド）、Ｋのみを用いて疑似
的にカラ−コピ−を実現する機能である。
【００１２】また、プレビュ−機能はデジタルカラ−複
写機１００でプリントアウトする前に、ホストコンピュ
−タ側のディスプレイに予想画像を表示して色調整や編
集等を行う機能であり、コピ−モ−ド領域指定機能は各
原稿の領域毎にカラ−コピ−するのかツインカラ−コピ
−するのか、あるいはモノクロカラ−するのか等の印刷
モ−ドを任意に指定する機能である。
【００１３】一方、上記画像処理装置１０１は図２に示
すように、ネットワ−クを介してホストコンピュ−タ１
０２とデ−タの授受を行うインタフェ−ス１０１Ａ、専
用線を介してデジタルカラ−複写機１００とデ−タの授
受を行うインタフェ−ス１０Ｂ、ＰＤＬデ−タの展開及
び変換処理を行うＰＤＬ処理部１０１Ｃ、ガンマ処理等
の所定の画像処理を行う画像処理部１０１Ｄ、タイマ１
０１Ｅ、ジョブ管理及びｌｏｇ用のスプ−ラ１０１Ｆ、
コピ−の可否を判定する判定部１０１Ｇ、所定の課金プ
ログラムに基づいく課金計算や課金情報通知等の課金処
理を行う課金処理部１０１Ｈ、及び課金動作、上記課金
プログラムの変更、画像処理動作、通信等の全体の動作
制御を行う制御部１０１Ｉを備えて構成されており、上
記ホストコンピュ−タ１０２から指定された各種機能を
デジタルカラ−複写機に実行させ、指定された機能に基
づくジョブの記録（ｌｏｇ）を残すとともにこの記録に
基づいて課金を行い、さらに各ホストコンピュ−タに課
金情報を対応する記録と共に所定のタイミングで通知す
る。
【００１４】なお、課金情報の通知は、コピ−実行（ジ
ョブの完了）毎に行う方式、毎月定期的に行う方式、或
は課金金額が一定額以上になった際に行う方式等、ユ−
ザの要望に応じて設定してよい。
【００１５】また、本実施例における課金の計算は、受
付時間（休日か平日か／就業時間内か就業時間外か）、
ペ−ジ数、プリント部数、用紙種類（普通紙か特殊紙か
ＯＨＰ用紙か）、用紙サイズ、ファイルサイズ、ユ−ザ
名（ディスカウントの有無）、コピ−モ−ド（カラ−コ
ピ−かモノクロコピ−か等）、コピ−終了後に記録を残
すか残さないか、使用された拡張機能は何か、コピ−時
間（要処理時間）といったもの等を課金計算のパラメ−
タとして行われ、これらパラメ−タはホストコンピュ−
タ１０２側から設定できる。
【００１６】コピ−終了状態が正常の場合のみに課金を
行う。
【００１７】また、上述の各パラメ−タに基づく課金計
算は上記画像処理装置１０１内に組み込まれた所定のプ
ログラムに基づいて実行され、このプログラムあるいは
各パラメ−タに対する課金金額を変更する際には所定の
パスワ−ドを入力することによって可能となる。
【００１８】一方、上記ホストコンピュ−タ１０２は、
接続されたスキャナ１０２Ａや図示しないデジタルカメ
ラから取り込んだ画像デ−タやテキストデ−タ、及びネ
ットワ−クを介して配信された各種デ−タ、ＣＤ−ＲＯ
Ｍ等の各種メディアから再生された各種デ−タを上述の
画像処理装置１０１、デジタルカラ−複写機１００を用
いてコピ−（プリント）することができる。
【００１９】次に、本実施例におけるコピ−システムの
動作を説明する。
【００２０】先ず、ホストコンピュ−タ１０２側でユ−
ザパスワ−ド及び操作内容コ−ドを画像処理装置１０１
に送信し、画像処理装置はこれらを確認してコピ−操作
を許容するかを判断してこの結果をホストに通知すると
ともに、上記課金プログラムへのアクセスや変更が許容
されるか等、このユ−ザが許容される操作内容を確認す
る。
【００２１】コピ−操作が許容された後、ユ−ザはコピ
−するイメ−ジ又は文書を特定し、上述のコピ−モ−
ド、拡張機能等のパラメ−タの指定を行った後にコピ−
開始を指示する。
【００２２】即ち、ホストコンピュ−タ１０２はコピ−
すべきイメ−ジデ−タ等をコピ−モ−ド情報、拡張機能
情報等を含んだＰＤＬデ−タに変換し、これをネットワ
−クを介して画像処理装置１０１に配信するとともに、
ユ−ザコ−ド或はマシンナンバ−を画像処理装置１０１
に配信する。
【００２３】上記画像処理装置１０１は受信した上記Ｐ
ＤＬデ−タを展開してスプ−ラに保存し、順番が来るま
で各ユ−ザ毎のキュ−に残す。
【００２４】また、この間に画像処理装置１０１の判定
部１０１Ｇは、送られてきたＰＤＬデ−タがコピ−可能
なものであるか否か、即ち、紙幣等の有価証券であった
り、著作権の関係等でコピ−が禁止されたものでないか
否かを確認するとともに、所定の画像処理を行う。
【００２５】なお、本実施例においては、上記ホストコ
ンピュ−タ１０２からのデ−タ内にコピ−を許容するか
否か、画像処理を許容するか否か等を示す規制コ−ドを
含ませ、上記判定部１０１Ｇはこの規制コ−ドを読み込
むことによってコピ−の可否、処理の可否を判定するよ
うなシステムとされ、そのような規制コ−ドに対応した
操作規制内容は判定部内のアクセス管理されたメモリ内
に記憶されている。
【００２６】また、この他にこの判定部に画像読取り機
能を持たせ、著作権を示すＣマ−ク等の所定のマ−クや
特定の図柄をデ−タ中に検出したらコピ−を禁止するよ
うにしてもよい。
【００２７】順番が来たら上記画像処理装置１０１は上
記デジタルカラ−複写機１００にイメ−ジデ−タ等のコ
ピ−及び拡張機能の実行を指示すると同時にコピ−処理
時間の計時を開始する。
【００２８】デジタルカラ−複写機１００はジョブの実
行、即ち所定のモ−ドでのコピ−と指示された機能を実
行し、完了したこと及び正常なコピ−動作であったか否
かを示すレポ−トを上記画像処理装置１０１に通知す
る。
【００２９】通知を受けた画像処理装置１０１は、コピ
−処理時間の計時を停止するとともに正常な動作が行わ
れたことを確認し、正常な動作が行われた場合に課金計
算を実行する。
【００３０】即ち、コピ−モ−ド、印刷部数、要した時
間等に基づいて上述のプログラムにて課金計算を行い、
この結果をｌｏｇに記録するとともにこのｌｏｇに基づ
いて上記ホストコンピュ−タ１０２に料金を通知して請
求する。
【００３１】次に、他の動作を説明する。上述の動作は
課金計算を上記画像処理装置１０１にて一方的に行った
が、この動作はコピ−の実行前にユ−ザが料金を確認
し、必要に応じて機能指定等を変更し得るようにするも
のである。
【００３２】先ず、先の動作と同様にホストコンピュ−
タ１０２側でコピ−するイメ−ジ又は文書を特定し、上
述のコピ−モ−ド、拡張機能等の指定を行った後にコピ
−開始を指示する。
【００３３】上記画像処理装置１０１は受信した上記Ｐ
ＤＬデ−タを展開してスプ−ラに保存し、順番が来るま
で各ユ−ザ毎のキュ−に残す。
【００３４】また、この間に画像処理装置１０１は、送
られてきたＰＤＬデ−タに対するコピ−の可否を行うと
ともに、課金計算を行って予想料金を算出し、これをホ
ストコンピュ−タ１０２に返送する。
【００３５】ホストコンピュ−タ１０２はこの予想料金
をユ−ザに示して確認し、必要に応じて機能指定等を変
更させる。
【００３６】その後、確認変更が完了した段階で確認完
了を画像処理装置１０１に通知し、画像処理装置１０１
はこれを受けて先の動作と同様に画像処理等の処理を行
うとともにデジタルカラ−複写機１００にデ−タ等を配
信してコピ−を指示する。
【００３７】以下の動作は先の動作と同様であり、ジョ
ブ完了レポ−トを受けて課金計算を行い、料金をホスト
コンピュ−タ１０２に通知して動作を終了する。
【００３８】このような動作によれば、ユ−ザの意図し
た予算による料金にてコピ−を行うことができる、料金
に関するトラブルを未然に防止することができる。
【００３９】なお、本実施例においてはすべての場合に
予想料金をユ−ザに通知するようにしたが、上限金額を
予め設定しておき、この上限金額を越えた場合にユ−ザ
に通知するようにしてもよく、これによって料金に関す
るトラブルをより確実に防止することができる。
【００４０】次に、その他の動作を説明する。上述の動
作は課金計算を上記画像処理装置１０１にて行ったが、
この動作はホストコンピュ−タ１０２側で課金計算を行
うものである。
【００４１】先ず、ホストコンピュ−タ１０２は先の動
作と同様に機能等の指定を行うとともに、画像処理装置
１０１に対して課金計算用のプログラムソフトをリクエ
ストする。
【００４２】このリクエストを受けて、画像処理装置１
０１はユ−ザコ−ド等を確認した後にプログラムソフト
を配信する。
【００４３】ホストコンピュ−タ１０２は送られたプロ
グラムソフトに基づいて、指定した各機能を実行した際
の料金を計算（見積り）し、ユ−ザに確認又は変更する
機会を与える。
【００４４】その後、最終的な確認が完了した後、先の
動作と同様に画像処理装置１０１に対してＰＤＬデ−タ
等を配信してコピ−を指示する。
【００４５】その後の処理は先の動作と同様であるが、
上記画像処理装置１０１がジョブ完了のレポ−トを受信
した後にこのレポ−トをホストコンピュ−タ１０２に転
送するとともに、課金計算用のプログラムソフトのデリ
−トをリクエストする。
【００４６】ホストコンピュ−タ１０２はこのレポ−ト
に基づいて課金計算してユ−ザに料金を請求するととも
に、プログラムソフトをデリ−トして動作を終了する。
【００４７】次に、プレビュ−を含む場合の動作につい
て説明する。
【００４８】この場合の動作は基本的に先の実施例とほ
ぼ同様であるが、複写機１００側で画像処理を行った
後、コピ−の直前のイメ−ジを一旦画像処理装置１０１
を介してホストコンピュ−タ１０２に返送して確認及び
色調整等を行わせ、その後にコピ−動作を実行させる。
【００４９】即ち、先ず、ホストコンピュ−タ１０２側
でコピ−するイメ−ジ又は文書を特定し、上述のコピ−
モ−ド、拡張機能等の指定を行った後にコピ−開始を指
示する。
【００５０】以下、詳細に説明する。
【００５１】先ず、ホストコンピュ−タ１０２はコピ−
すべきイメ−ジデ−タ等をコピ−モ−ド情報、拡張機能
情報及びプレビュ−を行う旨の情報等を含んだＰＤＬデ
−タに変換し、これをネットワ−クを介して画像処理装
置１０１に配信するとともに、ユ−ザコ−ド或はマシン
ナンバ−を画像処理装置１０１に配信する。
【００５２】上記画像処理装置１０１は受信した上記Ｐ
ＤＬデ−タを展開してスプ−ラに保存し、順番が来るま
で各ユ−ザ毎のキュ−に残す。
【００５３】また、この間に画像処理装置１０１は、送
られてきたＰＤＬデ−タがコピ−可能なものであるか否
かを確認するとともに、所定の画像処理を行う。
【００５４】順番が来たら上記画像処理装置１０１は上
記デジタルカラ−複写機１００にイメ−ジデ−タ等のコ
ピ−及び拡張機能の実行を指示すると同時にコピ−処理
時間の計時を開始する。
【００５５】デジタルカラ−複写機１００は先ず画像処
理を行い、この処理後のデ−タを一旦画像処理装置１０
１に返送し、画像処理装置１０１はこの処理済のデ−タ
をＰＤＬデ−タに変換してホストコンピュ−タ１０２に
転送する。
【００５６】ホストコンピュ−タ１０２は、このイメ−
ジをモニタ−に表示して色等の確認及び調整を行った
後、再度ＰＤＬデ−タとして画像処理装置１０１に配信
する。
【００５７】その後は先の動作と同様に、画像処理装置
１０１が複写機１００にプリントを指示し、複写機は指
定された所定のモ−ドでのコピ−と指示された機能を実
行し、完了したこと及び正常なコピ−動作であったか否
かを示すレポ−トを上記画像処理装置１０１に通知す
る。
【００５８】通知を受けた画像処理装置１０１は、コピ
−処理時間の計時を停止するとともに正常な動作が行わ
れたことを確認し、正常な動作が行われた場合に課金計
算を実行してこの結果をｌｏｇに記録するとともにこの
ｌｏｇに基づいて上記ホストコンピュ−タ１０２に料金
を通知して動作を終了する。
【００５９】上述の実施例によれば、予め設定された上
記各パラメ−タに応じた課金を自動的に実現することが
できオペレ−タの労力を大幅に軽減することができる。
【００６０】また、上記各パラメ−タを用いた課金ソフ
トを変更することによって極めて容易に課金の料金体系
を変更、修正することができる。
【００６１】
【発明の効果】上述の説明から明らかなように、本発明
によれば提供した各種サ−ビスに応じた対価を自動的に
請求することができる。
【００６２】また、本発明によればユ−ザが利用したプ
リントモ−ド又は処理機能に応じた対価を自動的に請求
することができる。

Claims (28)

    【特許請求の範囲】
  1. 【請求項１】 所定のプリントモ−ドによって画像をプ
    リントするプリント手段と、上記プリントモ−ドに応じ
    て課金する課金手段を備えたことを特徴とするプリント
    システム。
  2. 【請求項２】 上記プリントモ−ドはフルカラ−モ−ド
    を含むことを特徴とする請求項１記載のプリントシステ
    ム。
  3. 【請求項３】 上記プリントモ−ドはツインカラ−モ−
    ドを含むことを特徴とする請求項１記載のプリントシス
    テム。
  4. 【請求項４】 上記プリントモ−ドはモノクロカラ−モ
    −ドを含むことを特徴とする請求項１記載のプリントシ
    ステム。
  5. 【請求項５】 上記プリントモ−ドは三色カラ−モ−ド
    を含むことを特徴とする請求項１記載のプリントシステ
    ム。
  6. 【請求項６】 上記プリントモ−ドは領域ごと指定モ−
    ドを含むことを特徴とする請求項１記載のプリントシス
    テム。
  7. 【請求項７】 上記プリントモ−ドは両面印刷モ−ドを
    含むことを特徴とする請求項１記載のプリントシステ
    ム。
  8. 【請求項８】 画像をプリントするプリント手段と、プ
    リントされた原稿に所定の処理を行う処理手段と、上記
    処理に応じて課金する課金手段を備えたプリントシステ
    ム。
  9. 【請求項９】 上記所定の処理はステ−プル処理機能を
    含むことを特徴とする請求項８記載のプリントシステ
    ム。
  10. 【請求項１０】 上記所定の処理はソ−ト処理機能を含
    むことを特徴とする請求項８記載のプリントシステム。
  11. 【請求項１１】 画像をプリントするプリント手段と、
    プリントに先立って上記画像を表示する表示手段と、上
    記画像に所定の画像処理を行う処理手段と、上記処理に
    応じて課金する課金手段を備え、上記課金手段は表示さ
    れ画像に基づいて処理が行われた場合に課金することを
    特徴とするプリントシステム。
  12. 【請求項１２】 画像をプリントするプリント手段と、
    プリント実行の日時を得るための計時手段と、計時され
    た上記日時に応じて課金する課金手段を備えたプリント
    システム。
  13. 【請求項１３】 上記課金手段は、プリントが実行され
    た日に応じて課金を可変することを特徴とする請求項１
    ２記載のプリントシステム。
  14. 【請求項１４】 上記課金手段は、プリントが実行され
    た時刻に応じて課金を可変することを特徴とする請求項
    １２記載のプリントシステム。
  15. 【請求項１５】 画像をプリントするプリント手段と、
    原稿の枚数をカウントするカウント手段と、上記カウン
    ト値に応じて課金する課金手段を備えたプリントシステ
    ム。
  16. 【請求項１６】 画像をプリントするプリント手段と、
    プリントされた枚数をカウントするカウント手段と、上
    記カウント値に応じて課金する課金手段を備えたプリン
    トシステム。
  17. 【請求項１７】 画像をプリントするプリント手段と、
    プリントサイズを検出する検出手段と、上記プリントサ
    イズに応じて課金する課金手段を備えたプリントシステ
    ム。
  18. 【請求項１８】 画像をプリントするプリント手段と、
    プリント用紙の種類を検出する検出手段と、上記用紙の
    種類に応じて課金する課金手段を備えたプリントシステ
    ム。
  19. 【請求項１９】 原稿画像をプリントするプリント手段
    と、原稿画像のサイズを検出する検出手段と、上記原稿
    画像に応じて課金する課金手段を備えたプリントシステ
    ム。
  20. 【請求項２０】 原稿画像をプリントするプリント手段
    と、ユ−ザ名を検出する検出手段と、上記ユ−ザ名に応
    じて課金する課金手段を備えたことを特徴とするプリン
    トシステム。
  21. 【請求項２１】 原稿画像をプリントするプリント手段
    と、プリント時の要所理時間を検出する検出手段と、要
    処理時間に応じて課金する課金手段を備えたプリントシ
    ステム。
  22. 【請求項２２】 原稿画像をプリントするプリント手段
    と、所定のプログラムに応じて課金する課金手段と、上
    記プログラムを格納するメモリ手段とを備え、上記プロ
    グラムを変更する際にはパスワードを必要とすることを
    特徴とするプリントシステム。
  23. 【請求項２３】 ネトワ−クを介して接続されるホスト
    とプリンタ装置とから構成されるプリンタシステムであ
    って、 前記プリンタは各種動作モ−ドを実行し得るとともに、
    実行した動作モ−ドに応じた課金を行う課金手段を有
    し、 前記ホストからの動作モ−ドの指定に応じて所定の動作
    を実行するとともに、前記ホストに課金金額を返信する
    ことを特徴とするプリンタシステム。
  24. 【請求項２４】 上記動作モ−ドは各種プリントモ−ド
    を含むことを特徴とする請求項２３記載のプリントシス
    テム。
  25. 【請求項２５】 上記動作モ−ドは各種拡張機能動作を
    含むことを特徴とする請求項２３記載のプリントシステ
    ム。
  26. 【請求項２６】 所定のプリントモ−ドによって画像を
    プリントするプリント手段と、上記プリントモ−ドに応
    じて課金する課金手段と、課金の金額が所定額を超えた
    ことを検出してプリント動作を禁止する手段とを備えた
    ことを特徴とするプリントシステム。
  27. 【請求項２７】 ネトワ−クを介して接続されるホスト
    とプリンタ装置とから構成されるプリンタシステムであ
    って、 前記プリンタは各種動作モ−ドを実行し得るとともに、
    実行した動作モ−ドに応じた課金を行う課金手段と、課
    金の金額が所定額を超えたことを検出する検出手段とを
    有し、 前記プリンタは前記ホストからの動作モ−ドの指定に応
    じた課金金額を算出するとともに、課金の金額が所定額
    を超えた場合には上記動作の実行を禁止することを特徴
    とするプリンタシステム。
  28. 【請求項２８】 ネトワ−クを介して接続されるホスト
    とプリンタ装置とから構成されるプリンタシステムであ
    って、 前記プリンタは各種動作モ−ドを実行し得るとともに、
    実行した動作モ−ドに応じた課金を行う課金手段とを有
    し、 前記プリンタは前記ホストからの動作モ−ドの指定に応
    じた課金金額を算出するとともに、この課金金額を前記
    ホストに返信し、その後に指定された動作を実行するこ
    とを特徴とするプリンタシステム。
