実施例1
図1のサブピクセルエミッタ100の構成において、8個のサブピクセルが直線状に反復してより巨大なセル群を生成するグルーピング120として三原色エミッタを示す。このレイアウトは、第’738号仮出願に紹介されており、本明細書で引用している。グルーピング120は、赤色サブピクセル104、緑色サブピクセル106、および青色サブピクセル102を含む。これから分かるように、青色サブピクセル102は「分割」されている。すなわち赤または緑色サブピクセルのいずれかよりも水平軸方向の幅が狭いが、グルーピングまたは反復セル毎の個数は2倍である。このような「分割」サブピクセルは、非分割サブピクセルよりも面積が小さいサブピクセルを指してよい。青色サブピクセルを分割することにより、ディスプレイの垂直方向に現れる青色のストライプの目立つ影響を解消するのに役立つ。これに関して更に、2002年10月22日に出願された米国特許出願第10/278,328号(第’328号出願)「青色輝度を低下させて視認性が向上した改良型カラー平面パネルディスプレイのサブピクセル構成のおよびレイアウト」で述べていて、本明細書に引用している。
Claims (7)
- 複数のサブピクセルグループを含むディスプレイであって、前記サブピクセルグループが更に2行4列の8個のサブピクセルを含み、各々の前記サブピクセルが赤色サブピクセル、緑色サブピクセル、および青色サブピクセルのうちの1個であり、前記サブピクセルグループが更に、4個の前記青色サブピクセル、2個の前記赤色サブピクセル、および2個の前記緑色サブピクセルを含み、更に2個の非隣接列からなる第一の組が4個の前記青色サブピクセルを含み、2個の非隣接列からなる第二の組が2個の前記赤色サブピクセルおよび2個の前記緑色サブピクセルを含み、前記青色サブピクセルが前記赤色および前記緑色サブピクセルよりも小さい領域からなり、前記赤色サブピクセルおよび前記緑色サブピクセルが更に、市松模様を形成するディスプレイ。
- 請求項1に記載のディスプレイにおいて、4個の前記青色サブピクセルを含む前記2個の非隣接列が、2個の前記赤色サブピクセルおよび2個の前記緑色サブピクセルを含む前記2個の非隣接列から垂直方向にずれているディスプレイ。
- 請求項1に記載のディスプレイにおいて、前記青色サブピクセルが、前記赤色サブピクセルおよび前記緑色サブピクセルから形成された前記市松模様に分散配置されているディスプレイ。
- 請求項1に記載のディスプレイにおいて、前記ディスプレイがアクティブマトリクス液晶ディスプレイであるディスプレイ。
- 請求項4に記載のディスプレイにおいて、前記ディスプレイが、各サブピクセルグループ内でサブピクセルを駆動するドット反転スキームを適用するディスプレイ。
- 請求項5に記載のディスプレイにおいて、前記ドット反転スキームが1×1ドット反転であるディスプレイ。
- 請求項5に記載のディスプレイにおいて、前記ドット反転スキームが2×1ドット反転であるディスプレイ。
