以下に、本発明をさらに説明する。
図1は、本発明のリチウム二次バッテリーに使用できる代表的な積重型電極組立構造を図式的に示し、図2は、そのような積重型電極組立構造が小袋型ケースの中に収容されている、代表的なリチウム二次バッテリーを図式的に示す。
リチウムマンガン−金属複合酸化物(A)Li1.1Mn1.85Al0.05O4およびリチウムニッケル−マンガン−コバルト複合酸化物(B)LiNi0.4Mn0.4Co0.2O2を、90:10の重量比で混合した。得られた混合物1.25gを3回蒸留した水25mLに加え、次いで、これを30分間超音波処理し、続いてpH計を使用してpHを測定した。結果を下記の表1に示す。
Li1.1Mn1.85Al0.05O4とLiNi0.4Mn0.4Co0.2O2の混合比を変えた以外は、例1と同じ手順を使用して実験を繰り返し、得られた物質のpHを測定した。結果を下記の表1に示す。

例1と同様に、Li1.1Mn1.85Al0.05O4とLiNi0.4Mn0.4Co0.2O2を90:10の重量比で混合し、カソード活性材料を調製した。このカソード活性材料、カーボンブラックおよび結合剤としてポリフッ化ビニリデン(PVDF)を、有機溶剤NMP中、重量比85:10:5で混合し、スラリーを調製した。得られたスラリーを、厚さ20μmのアルミニウムホイルの両側に塗布し、乾燥させてカソードを調製した。このようにして調製したカソード、アノードとしてリチウム金属、セパレータとして多孔質ポリエチレンフィルム、および電解質として1M−LiPF6EC/EMC溶液を使用し、ボタン型バッテリーを組み立てた。
このようにして調製したバッテリーの高温耐用寿命を評価するために、このバッテリーを、電流密度0.2Cおよび温度50℃で、50充電/放電サイクルにかけた。このバッテリーの放電容量保持率を下記の等式により計算した。結果を下記の表2に示す。

* 注 100充電/放電サイクルは、相対的に比較するのに最適な条件を見出すために設定されている。
Li1.1Mn1.85Al0.05O4とLiNi0.4Mn0.4Co0.2O2の混合比(重量)を下記の表2に示すように調整した以外は、例6と同じ手順を使用してバッテリーを組み立て、これらのバッテリーの高温耐用寿命を評価した。結果を下記の表2および図3にそれぞれ示す。

Li1.1Mn1.85Al0.05O4とLiNi1/3Mn1/3Co1/3O2の混合比(重量)を変えた以外は、例11と同じ手順を使用してバッテリーを組み立てた。バッテリーの、高電流パルス充電/放電寿命期間性能(高負荷放電率)を評価し、バッテリーの安全性試験も行った。結果を下記の表3および4、および図4にそれぞれ示す。
Li1.1Mn1.85Al0.05O4とLiNi1/3Mn1/3Co1/3O2の混合比(重量)を100:0にした以外は、例11と同じ手順を使用してバッテリーを組み立てた。バッテリーの、高電流パルス充電/放電寿命期間性能(高負荷放電率)を評価し、バッテリーの安全性試験も行った。結果を下記の表3および4、および図4にそれぞれ示す。
Li1.1Mn1.85Al0.05O4とLiNi1/3Mn1/3Co1/3O2の混合比(重量)を0:100にした以外は、例11と同じ手順を使用してバッテリーを組み立てた。バッテリーの、高電流パルス充電/放電寿命期間性能(高負荷放電率)を評価し、バッテリーの安全性試験も行った。結果を下記の表3および4、および図4にそれぞれ示す。
リチウムマンガン−金属複合酸化物(A)として、Li1.1Mn1.85Al0.05O4の代わりにLi1.08Mn1.87Al0.05O4を使用した以外は、例6と同じ手順を使用してバッテリーを組み立て、バッテリーの高温耐用寿命を評価した。結果を下記の表5に示す。
リチウムマンガン−金属複合酸化物(A)として、Li1.08Mn1.87Al0.05O4の代わりにLi1.08Mn1.92O4を使用した以外は、例16と同じ手順を使用してバッテリーを組み立て、バッテリーの高温耐用寿命を評価した。結果を下記の表5に示す。
Li1−aNibMncCo1−b−cO2のリチウムニッケル−マンガン−コバルト複合酸化物(B)において、ニッケル、コバルト、およびマンガンの組成比を下記の表6に記載するように調整した以外は、例11と同じ手順を使用してカソードを調製した。カソード活性材料の安全性を確認するために、DSC(示差走査熱量測定)を行った。開始温度および熱量を下記の表6に示す。
Li1−aNibMncCo1−b−cO2のリチウムニッケル−マンガン−コバルト複合酸化物(B)において、ニッケル、コバルト、およびマンガンの組成比を下記の表6に記載するように調整した以外は、例11と同じ手順を使用して実験を繰り返した。結果を下記の表6に示す。
Li1.1Mn1.85Al0.05O4のリチウムマンガン−金属複合酸化物(A)およびLiNi1/3Mn1/3Co1/3O2のリチウムニッケル−マンガン−コバルト複合酸化物(B)を、混合比(重量)70:30で使用することにより、カソード活性材料を製造した以外は、例11と同じ手順を使用してバッテリーを組み立て、次いで、バッテリーの安全性試験を行った。結果を下記の表7に示す。
Li1.1Mn1.85Al0.05O4のリチウムマンガン−金属複合酸化物(A)およびLiNi0.15Mn0.15Co0.7O2のリチウムニッケル−マンガン−コバルト複合酸化物(B)を、混合比(重量)70:30で使用することにより、カソード活性材料を製造した以外は、例11と同じ手順を使用してバッテリーを組み立て、次いで、バッテリーの安全性試験を行った。結果を下記の表7に示す。
Li1.1Mn1.85Al0.05O4のリチウムマンガン−金属複合酸化物(A)およびLiNi0.3Mn0.3Co0.4O2のリチウムニッケル−マンガン−コバルト複合酸化物(B)を、混合比(重量)70:30で使用することにより、カソード活性材料を製造した以外は、例11と同じ手順を使用してバッテリーを組み立て、次いで、バッテリーの安全性試験を行った。結果を下記の表7に示す。
産業上の利用可能性
Claims (4)
- 二次バッテリー用のカソード活性材料であって、
スピネル構造を有し、かつ、下記一般式(1)により表されるリチウムマンガン−金属複合酸化物(A)と、及び
層状構造を有し、かつ、下記一般式(2)により表されるリチウムニッケル−マンガン−コバルト複合酸化物(B)を含んでなり、
前記リチウムマンガン−金属複合酸化物(A)の含有量が、前記混合物の総重量に対して80〜95%であり、
前記活性材料1.25gを25mLの水に加えて測定したpHが8.9〜10.2である、二次バッテリー用のカソード活性材料。

〔上記式中、
0<x<0.2、
0<y<0.1、
Mは、Al、Mg、Ni、Co、Fe、Ti、V、ZrおよびZnからなる群から選択された少なくとも一種の元素であり、
−0.1≦a≦0.1、
0.3<b<0.5、及び
0.3<c<0.5を表す。〕 - 前記金属(M)が、Mg、Al、CoおよびNiからなる群から選択される、請求項1に記載のカソード活性材料。
- 請求項1又は2に記載の前記カソード活性材料を含んでなる、リチウム二次バッテリー。
- 前記バッテリーが、高出力、大容量電源として使用される、請求項3に記載のリチウム二次バッテリー。
