Description

Claims (7)
- アノード領域内にアノードを含み、且つカソード領域内にカソードを含む燃料電池であって、該アノードが、イオン選択性ポリマー電解質膜によって該カソードから分離され、その使用時に該電池のアノード領域にはアルコール燃料が供給され、その使用時に該電池のカソード領域には酸化物質が供給され、そして該電池には、該アノードと該カソードの間に電気回路を生成するための手段、及び該電池の該カソード領域内の該カソードとの流体連接にある溶液中に不揮発性のレドックスカップルが与えられていて、該レドックスカップルはポリオキソメタレート化学種を含み、該電池の動作中に該カソードで少なくとも部分的に還元され、且つ該カソードでのそのような還元の後に酸化物質との反応によって少なくとも部分的に再生成され、カソード液の溶液における該レドックスカップル及び/又は該レドックスカップルの濃度が、該電池のアノード領域から該電池のカソード領域へとポリマー電解質膜を越えるアルコール燃料のクロスオーバによるアルコール燃料の酸化によって、動作中の該電池によって生成された電流密度が10%未満しか変動しないように選択される、上記燃料電池。
- アルコール燃料が少なくとも1つの低分子量アルコールを含む、請求項1に記載の燃料電池。
- アルコール燃料が、メタノール、エタノール、プロパノール、イソプロピルアルコール及びブタノール、ジプロピレングリコール及びエチレングリコール、並びにこれらの2つ以上の混合物から選択される、請求項2に記載の燃料電池。
- レドックスカップルのレドックス電位が、酸素の電位とは0.01Vから0.3V異なる、請求項1から3のいずれか一項に記載の燃料電池。
- 燃料電池の動作温度が100℃未満である、請求項1から4のいずれか一項に記載の燃料電池。
- カソード液の溶液中のレドックスカップルの濃度が少なくとも0.1Mである、請求項1から5のいずれか一項に記載の燃料電池。
- 電池のカソード領域に、カソード液の溶液を蓄えるための貯蔵容器が与えられる、請求項1から6のいずれか一項に記載の燃料電池。
