Abstract
【課題】 本発明は画像信号の異常発生の時に生じるラッチアップ現象を防止する液晶表示装置の駆動装置に関する。
【解決手段】 本発明のゲート駆動部は、一列に連結された複数のシフトレジスタを含み、各シフトレジスタは蓄電器と、バッファートランジスタ及びプルダウントランジスタを含む。プルダウントランジスタは、バッファートランジスタの入力端子に連結され、前段シフトレジスタの出力によりバッファートランジスタがターンオンされる場合、後段シフトレジスタの出力によりプルダウントランジスタがターンオンされて、前記第1電圧がバッファートランジスタを通じて蓄電器に充電できないようにすることによりラッチアップ現象を防止する。

Description
ここで、Ronは放電トランジスタM4のターンオン時の抵抗値で、RdowmはバッファートランジスタM1のプルダウン時の電圧である。この電圧は、次式(2)に示すようにインバータトランジスタM6のしきい電圧Vthより小さく、第2駆動トランジスタM3がターンオン状態になることによりゲート出力Gout(N)はLowにならなければならない。つまり、インバータトランジスタM6がターンオンされて第2駆動トランジスタM3がターンオフされないようにしなければならない。
従って、前記式(2)のように抵抗Rの大きさを決定する。この場合にも、接点N2の電位ができるだけゲートオフ電圧Voffに近似するように、抵抗R値をプルダウントランジスタMxの内部抵抗Rx値より極めて大きくすることが好ましい。

Claims (10)
- スイッチング素子を各々有する複数の画素を含む表示装置の駆動装置であって、
一列に配列された複数のシフトレジスタを有するゲート駆動部を含み、
前記各シフトレジスタは蓄電器の充電及び放電により定まる出力を送出し、
前記蓄電器の充電が後段シフトレジスタの出力またはこれに同期する信号によって遮断されたり、前記蓄電器の放電が前段シフトレジスタの出力またはこれに同期する信号によって遮断される、表示装置の駆動装置。 - 前記各シフトレジスタは、
前記前段シフトレジスタの出力またはこれに同期する信号によって前記蓄電器に印加される第1電圧をスイッチングする第1スイッチング素子と、
前記後段シフトレジスタの出力またはこれに同期する信号によって前記蓄電器に印加される第2電圧をスイッチングする第2スイッチング素子と、
前記第1電圧または前記第2電圧のいずれか一つを遮断する電圧遮断部と、
を含む請求項1に記載の表示装置の駆動装置。 - 前記電圧遮断部は、前記後段シフトレジスタの出力またはこれに同期する信号によって前記第1スイッチング素子の入力端子の電圧を前記第2電圧にプルダウンする、請求項2に記載の表示装置の駆動装置。
- 前記電圧遮断部は、
前記第1電圧と前記第1スイッチング素子との間に連結されている抵抗性素子と、
前記抵抗性素子と前記第2電圧との間に連結され、前記後段シフトレジスタの出力またはこれに同期する信号が入力される制御端子を有する第3スイッチング素子と、
を含む請求項3に記載の表示装置の駆動装置。 - 前記電圧遮断部は、前記後段シフトレジスタの出力またはこれに同期する信号によって前記第1スイッチング素子の制御端子の入力を前記第2電圧にプルダウンする請求項2に記載の表示装置の駆動装置。
- 前記電圧遮断部は、
前記前段シフトレジスタの出力と前記第1スイッチング素子との間に連結されている抵抗性素子と、
前記抵抗性素子と前記第2電圧との間に連結され、前記後段シフトレジスタの出力またはこれに同期する信号が入力される制御端子と、
を有する第3スイッチング素子を含む請求項5に記載の表示装置の駆動装置。 - 前記電圧遮断部は前記前段シフトレジスタの出力またはこれに同期する信号によって前記第2スイッチング素子の制御端子の入力を前記第2電圧にプルダウンする請求項2に記載の表示装置の駆動装置。
- 前記電圧遮断部は前記後段シフトレジスタの出力と前記第2スイッチング素子との間に連結されている抵抗性素子、そして前記抵抗性素子と前記第2電圧との間に連結され、前記前段シフトレジスタの出力またはこれに同期する信号が入力される制御端子を有する第3スイッチング素子を含む請求項7に記載の表示装置の駆動装置。
- 前記第1電圧はスイッチング素子のしきい電圧より大きく、前記第2電圧はスイッチング素子のしきい電圧より小さい請求項2に記載の表示装置の駆動装置。
- 前記シフトレジスタは前記表示装置と同一な基板上に形成される請求項1に記載の表示装置の駆動装置。
