Description
Es ist bekannt, zur Verbesserung der Wirkung von Mercerisierlaugen denselben nichtphenolische,
Sulfo- und Carboxylgruppen nicht enthaltende Verbindungen im Gemisch mit
Phenolen oder mit Phenolen und Sulfonierungsprodukten von Fetten, fetten ölen, Fettsäuren
oder aromatischen Kohlenwasserstoffen zuzusetzen. So ist z. B. in der britischen Patentschrift
305 664 der Zusatz von Gemischen aus Phenolen mit einwertigen aliphatischen oder
aliphatisch-aromatischen Alkoholen, in der britischen Patentschrift 279 784 der Zusatz von
Gemischen aus Phenolen und hydrierten aromatischen Verbindungen beschrieben. Diese
Zusätze bewirken eine bedeutende Erhöhung der Netzfähigkeit von Alkalilaugen, mit denen
man rohe, unentschlichtete Baumwollgewebe und Garne ohne vorherige Bäuche und ohne
Vornetzen einwandfrei mercerisieren kann, haben jedoch den Nachteil, daß ihre nichtsulfonierten
und carboxylfreien nichtphenolischen Bestandteile beim offenen Aufbewahren der Laugen,
insbesondere aber beim Arbeiten in der Wärme sowie beim Aufarbeiten der Alkalien durch
Eindampfen infolge Verflüchtigung mehr oder weniger rasch verlorengehen. Die-Netzfähigkeit
und die Gleichmäßigkeit der Einwirkung wird dadurch beeinträchtigt, was zu unliebsamen
Störungen des Mercerisiervorganges und zu Fleckenbildung bei nachfolgendem Färben
der behandelten Textilien führen kann.
Es wurde nun gefunden, daß man die Netzfähigkeit von Mercerisierlaugen bedeutend steigern
kann, wenn man diesen Naphthensäuregemische oder Harzsäuren bzw. natürlich vorkommende
Harzsäuregemische in Kombination mit beliebigen C-alkylierten Kresolen oder
Halogenphenolen zusetzt. Bei geeigneter Wahl der Zusammensetzung des Zusatzgemisches erhält
man klare Mercerisierlaugen, welche rohe, trockene und unentschlichtete Baumwollgewebe
und Garne rasch und vollkommen gleichmäßig durchnetzen. Das Netzvermögen bleibt bei
längerem offenem Aufbewahren, selbst beim Arbeiten in der Wärme oder beim Eindampfen
unverändert, und die Laugen sind praktisch geruchlos, da sich sämtliche Bestandteile der
Zusatzmischungen in den Laugen in die nichtflüchtigen Alkalisalze verwandeln.
Als C-alkylierte Kresole kommen in Betracht
z. B. die Xylenole sowie deren höhere Homologe; als Halogenphenole p-Chlorphenol, p-Chlor-mkresol
usw. bzw. Gemische dieser Stoffe und als Carbonsäuren rohe oder beliebig vorgereinigte
technische Naphthensäuregemische, wie sie z. B. bei der Erdölraffination anfallen, oder
Harzsäuren, wie Abietin-, Pimar- oder Kolophensäuren, bzw. die natürlich vorkommenden Gemische
solcher Harzsäuren.
Zur Ausführung des Verfahrens eignen sich am besten Gemische aus 2 bis 50% der Naphthen-
und Harzsäuren oder Gemische aus Naph-
thensäuren und Harzsäuren und 98 bis 50% der obengenannten Phenole oder Mischungen aus
den genannten Phenolen. Ferner können an Stelle der fertigen Mischungen auch deren Bestandteile
einzeln in beliebiger Reihenfolge mit den Laugen vereinigt werden. Die Wirkung der
neuen Zusätze tritt schon in Mengen von etwa 0,5 bis i,5 °/0, bezogen auf das Gewicht der
Laugen, ein.
. Beispiel ι
Einer Mercerisierlauge von 300Be und 50C
werden 1,43 Gewichtsprozent einer Mischung aus 80 Gewichtsprozent p-Ghlorphenol und
20 Gewichtsprozent einer gereinigten technischen Naphthensäure (Siedegrenzen bei etwa
20 mm Hg etwa 60 bis 200 °) zugesetzt. Die klare Lauge netzt auf ihre Oberfläche gelegte
trockene unentschlichtete Rohbaumwollgewebe in einigen Sekunden gleichmäßig durch, so daß
diese untersinken und rasch und stark einschrumpfen.
Vergleichslaugen, welche 1,43 °/0 p-Chlorphenol
bzw. 1,43 °/0 der Naphthensäure für sich
allein enthalten, besitzen nur ein ganz geringes Netzvermögen; dieses wird erst bedeutend und
technisch nutzbar bei gleichzeitiger Anwesenheit der beiden Stoffe.
Einer Mercerisierlauge von 300Be werden 0,8 °/0 einer Mischung aus 8o°/0 technischem
Xylenolgemisch und 2O°/0 einer Naphthensäurefraktion
(Siedegrenze bei etwa 20 mm Hg 130 bis 155 °) zugefügt, wodurch sie die Fähigkeit
erlangt, im Temperaturbereich von 0 bis 60 ° rohe, trockene Baumwollzwifngewebe rasch
und gleichmäßig zu durchnetzen. Verdünnt man die Lauge mit Wasser und dampft sie in einem
offenen Gefäß wieder auf die ursprüngliche Konzentration ein, so bleibt dadurch ihre Wirkung
unverändert.
Beim Mercerisieren eines Strangs trockenen, rohen Perlgarns 3/2 imprägniert sich dieses rasch
und gleichmäßig und erhält einen ausgezeichneten fleckenlosen Glanz.
Eine Mercerisierlauge von 35 ° Be, welche ι,14% eines Gemisches, bestehend aus 4 Teilen
technischem Xylenolgemisch und 1 Teil roher
Naphthensäure (Siedegrenzen bei etwa 30 mm Hg etwa 60 bis 210 °), enthält, besitzt ein viel
stärkeres Netz- und Schrumpfvermögen als Vergleichslaugen, welche entsprechende Mengen
Xylenolgemisch bzw. rohe Naphthensäure für sich allein enthalten.
Vergleicht man Laugen von 28 ° Be bei 15 ° C,
welche im einen Fall 1,2 % einer Mischung aus 4 Teilen technischem Xylenolgemisch und 1 Teil
gereinigter technischer Naphthensäure (wie in den Beispielen 1 und 3), im zweiten Fall 1,2 °/„
technisches Xylenolgemisch und im dritten Fall 1,2 °/0 der gereinigten technischen Naphthensäure
enthalten, so zeigt sich hinsichtlich der Netz- und Schrumpfwirkung folgendes:
Legt man auf die Oberfläche der drei Flüssigkeiten trockene, unentschlichtete rohe Zwirn-
oder Popelingewebe, so werden sie im ersten Fall innerhalb einiger Sekunden gleichmäßig
durchgenetzt, so daß sie bald untersinken und stark einschrumpfen. Bei den Vergleichslaugen
sind sie nach mehreren Minuten erst teilweise und nur oberflächlich von der Lauge benetzt.
Entsprechend dem verschiedenen Netzvermögen beträgt die nach der in »Melliands Textilberichte«
(Bd. IX, Sept. 1928, S. 762/3) von Landolt beschriebenen Methode gemessene
Schrumpfung eines trockenen Rohperlgarns (3/2) nach einer Einwirkungsdauer von 30 Sekunden
im ersten Fall etwa 2i°/0, im zweiten dagegen
nur etwa 3,5 % und im dritten Fall sogar nur etwa 2% der ursprünglichen Länge.
Das neue Verfahren ermöglicht es also, schwer benetzbare dichtgewobene Rohgewebe oder
stark gedrehte Rohgarne innerhalb einer abgekürzten Einwirkungsdauer trotzdem gleichmäßig und stark zu mercerisieren.
Eine Mercerisierlauge von 28 ° Be und 15 c C,
welche 1,5% einer Mischung aus 84 Teilen technischem
Xylenolgemisch und 16 Teilen tech- S5 nischem Kolophonium enthält, besitzt ein hervorragendes
Netz- und Schrumpfvermögen für rohe, trockene Baumwollfasern, welches bei längerem offenem Aufbewahren nicht abnimmt.

- Patentanspruch:Verfahren zum Verbessern der Mercerisierlaugen, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man diesen halogenierte Phenole und beziehungsweise oder C-alkylierte Kresole und Naphthen- oder Harzsäuren zusetzt.
