Description

Es wurde gefunden, daß durch geringe Mengen von Gemischen aus Phenol oder dessen Homologen mit Ketonen oder Gemischen dieser das Netz- und Durchdringungsvermögen von Meroerisierlaugen gesteigert wird. So gelingt es leicht, rohe unentschlichtete Baumwollgewebe oder -garne ohne vorherige Bäuche einwandfrei zu mercerisieren, wahrend die Lauge Ohne diese Zusätze kaum eindringt und eine gleichmäßige Wirkung nicht zu erhalten wäre.
Die Wirksamkeit der neuen Mischungen ist überraschend, weil Ketone in starken Alkalilaugen schwer löslich sind und überhaupt weder die Phenole noch die Ketone allein den Laugen eine erhebliche Netzfähigkeit erteilen. Als Ketone eignen sich aliphatische, aliphatisch-aromatische und cyclische Ketone sowie deren Derivate mit einer Oxalkylgruppe, wie Aceton, Aoetonhomologe (technisches Aoetonöl, technische Ketongemische nach der amerikanischen Patentschrift 1656488), Cyclopentanon, Cyclohexanon, Methylcyclohexanone, Kampfer, Diacetonalkohol. Erfindungsgemäß eignen sich am besten Gemische aus 98 bis 60 o/o Phenolen und 2 bis 40 o/o Ketonen. Ebenso können selbstverständlich statt der fertigen Gemische auch deren Bestandteile einzeln den Laugen zugesetzt werden.
Gegenüber den aus höhermolekularen Ketonen und niedrigmolekularen, sehr flüchtigen Alkoholen oder Ketonen oder Gemischen beider bestehenden Mercerisierlaugenzus ätzen entfalten Ketone in Gegenwart der Phenole bzw. der nichtflüchtigen Alkaliphenolate eine viel höhere und länger anhaltende Wirkung. Auch gegenüber den aus Phenolen und hydroaromatischen Verbindungen oder höhermolekularen Alkoholen bestehenden Gemischen gemäß den britischen Patentschriften 279 784 und 307 239 erzielt man mit den neuen Gemischen technisch wichtige Vorteile hinsichtlich höherer und länger anhaltender Wirksamkeit sowie besserer Löslichkeit bzw. Verteilbarkeit in den Laugen.
Ersetzt man z. B. in einem Gemisch nach der britischen Patentschrift 279 784, bestehend aus 95°/o Kresolxylenolgemisch. und 50/0 technischem Methylcyclohexanolgemisch, dieses letztere durch das technische Methylcyclohexanongemisch, so steigt z. B. bei einem Zusatz von 10 ecm Mischung auf 1 1 Natronlauge von 340 Be die nach 15 Sekunden erreichte Einschrumpfung eines rohen Perlgames von 2,9 auf 6,8°/o der ursprünglichen Länge. Ersetzt man in entsprechender Weise in einem Gemisch nach der britischen Patentschrift 307 239 das zwischen 120 bis 2000 siedende synthetische Alkoholgemisch durch Methylpropyl-, Metiiylbutyl- oder Methylisobutylketon, so besitzen die mit 15 ccm/1 der Mischungen versetzten Laugen von 300 Be nicht nur eine höhere Wirkung, sondern trotz der niedrigeren Siedepunkte der Ketone auch eine viel anhaltendere Wirksamkeit.
Beispiel ι
Zu einer Meroerisierlauge von 30° Be werden 1,1 Gewichtsprozent einer Mischung aus 92 0/0 technischem Xylenolgemisch und 8<jj/e# Kampfer zugefügt. Man erhält eine klar-e^ Lauge, welche rohe unentschlichtete Baum'-;1 wollgewebe oder stark gezwirnte rohe Garne' so vollkommen durchdrängt, daß sie innerhalb weniger Sekunden untersinken und rasch und stark einschrumpfen.
Beispiel 2
Einer Mercerisierlauge von 250 Be werden
1,65 Gewichtsprozent eines Gemisches aus
'5 75% technischen Teerkresolen und 2 5 0/0 technischem Aoetonöl zugefügt. Die klare Lauge netzt besonders bei Temperaturen laj-schen ο bis io° Gewebe und Garne aus r Baumwolle schnell und gleichmäßig, so sie nach einigen Sekunden untersinken tj-nd rasch einschrumpfen.

  1. Patentanspruch:
    Verfahren zum Mercerisieren, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß solche Mercerisicrlaugen verwendet werden, denen Phenole und Ketone als fertige Gemische oder einzeln in beliebiger Reihenfolge zugesetzt worden sind.
