Patentiert im Deutschen Reiche vom 21. August 1930 ab Das Hauptpatent hat angefangen am 31. Juli 1930 Patenterteilung bekanntgemacht am 20. Juli 1939
Nach dem Verfahren des Hauptpatents 669 426 werden zum Mercerisieren Laugen verwendet, die einerseits Phenole und andererseits solche aliphatischen oder gemischt aliphatischaromatischen Äther enthalten, die mindestens eine aliphatisch gebundene Hydroxylgruppe und mindestens 6 Kohlenstoffatome im Molekül und entweder die Gruppierung —R— O—R1— oder die Gruppierung
oder beide Gruppierungen zugleich ein oder mehrere Male aufweisen, wobei R einen mindestens eine Hydroxylgruppe enthaltenden aliphatischen Rest und R1 Alkyl, Aralkyl, Aryl, Alkyliden, Aralkyliden, Alkylen, Aralkylen oder Arylen bedeuten. Diese Zusätze bewirken eine bemerkenswerte Erhöhung des Netzvermögens der Mercerisierlaugen, die auch bei längerem, offenem Aufbewahren der Laugen erhalten bleibt. Obige Zusätze haben jedoch den Nachteil, daß trotz ihrer verhältnismäßig geringen Flüchtigkeit beim Mercerisieren in der Wärme, insbesondere aber beim Aufarbeiten der anfallenden verdünnten Auswaschlaugen durch Eindampfen, ein Teil der nichtphenolischen Bestandteile verlorengeht, wodurch die Stärke und die Gleichmäßigkeit der Einwirkung leidet und ein Nachzusatz der Netzmittel erforderlich wird.
Nach dem Verfahren des Patents 674 894 setzt man dagegen den Mercerisierlaugen gleichzeitig an einem Kohlenstoffatom alkylierte Kresole oder halogenierte Phenole und Naphthen- oder Harzsäuren zu. Nach diesem Verfahren erhält man Laugen von guter Netzwirkung, und da sämtliche Bestandteile dieser Zusätze in Gegenwart des großen Laugenüberschusses, in ihre nichtflüchtigen Natriumsalze übergeführt worden sind, so ändert sich deren Wirkung weder durch längeres, offenes Aufbewahren noch beim Mercerisieren in der Wärme oder beim Eindampfen. Es zeigt sich jedoch, daß die Wirkung der Lauge auf die Faser nicht so stark ist, wie sie mittels des Zusatzgemisches nach Patent 669 426 erreichbar ist, was sich leicht durch Aufnahme eines sogenannten Schrumpfdiagramms (vgl. Melliand, »Textilberichte«, Bd. IX, September 1928, S. 762/ 763) feststellen läßt.
Es wurde nun gefunden, daß man die Vorteile und Nachteile der oben beschriebenen Zusätze in vorteilhafter Weise ausgleichen
kann, wenn man die im Hauptpatent-genannten nichtphenolischen Verbindungen teilweise durch Naphthen- oder Harzsäuren ersetzt und als phenolische Verbindungen an einem Kohlenstoffatom alkylierte Kresole oder halogenierte Phenole anwendet. Die neuen Gemische sind den im Hauptpatent genannten Gemischen hinsichtlich ihrer Beständigkeit in der Wärme oder beim Eindampfen
ίο der Laugen bedeutend überlegen, da sie geringere Mengen nicht salzbildender Verbindungen enthalten, die sich viel weniger schnell verflüchtigen als größere Mengen derselben. Beim Eindampfen verdünnter Laugen, welche die neuen Zusätze enthalten, kann die Wirkung höchstens bis zu einem gewissen Betrageverlorengehen, weshalb geringere Nachzusätze erforderlich sind. Das neue Verfahren gestattet ferner, einen großen Teil der verhältnismäßig schwer zugänglichen und daher kostspieligen Ätheralkohole durch die leicht zugänglichen und' billigen Naphthen- oder Harzsäuren zu ersetzen. Die neuen Zusätze übertreffen solche, die nur Phenole und Naphthen- oder Harzsäuren enthalten, hinsichtlich ihrer Netz-, Durchdringungs- und Schrumpf wirkung und zeigen gegenüber j enen den Nachteil des Schäumens in viel geringerem Maße.
Zur Ausführung des Verfahrens eignen sich außer den im Hauptpatent' genannten Verbindungen rohe oder beliebig vorgereinigte technische Naphthensäuregemische, wie sie z. B. bei der Erdölraffination anfallen, ferner Harzsäuren, wie Abietin-, Pimar- oder Kplophensäuren, oder die natürlich vorkom-
. menden Gemische derartiger Harzsäuren.

Mercerisierlaugen von 300 Be werden im ersten Falle mit 1,24 Gewichtsprozent eines Gemisches aus So Gewichtsprozent technischem Xylenolgemisch und 20 Gewichtsprozent Kolophonium, im zweiten Falle mit ι ,24 Gewichtsprozent eines Gemisches aus 80 Gewichtsprozent technischem Xylenolgemisch, 18 Gewichtsprozent Kolophonium und 2 Gewichtsprozent Diäthylenglykolmonobutyläther versetzt.
Die erste Lauge netzt trockene, unentschlichtete Rohbaumwollgewebe und Garne ganz ungleichmäßig und. nur oberflächlich an, während die Gewebe von der zweiten, nach dem neuen Verfahren hergestellten Lauge
augenblicklich vollkommen gleichmäßig durchgenetzt werden, so daß sie nach wenigen Sekunden untersinken und schnell und stark einschrumpfen.
; Mißt man nach dem in Melliand, »Textilberichte«,-Bd. IX, September 1928, S. 762/ 763, von Lan do It beschriebenen Verfahren die Schrumpfung eines trocken eingebrachten Rohperlgarnes 3/2, so zeigt sich die größere Wirkung des neuen Zusatzes deutlich.

Die Prozentzahlen geben die nach bestimmten Zeiten erreichte Schrumpfung in Prozenten der ursprünglichen Länge an.
Beispiel 2 ?g
Versetzt man Mercerisierlaugen von 300 Be in einem Falle mit 1,22 Gewichtsprozent eines Gemisches, bestehend aus 90 Gewichtsprozent technischem Xylenolgemisch, 6 Gewichtsprozent eines technischen Naphthensäuregemisches und 4 Gewichtsprozent Diäthylenglykolmonobutyläther, im anderen Falle mit 1,22 Gewichtsprozent eines Gemisches aus 90 Gewichtsprozent technischem Xylenolgemisch und 10 Gewichtsprozent Diäthylenglykolmonobutyläther, so lassen sich mit beiden Laugen rohe, unentschlichtete, trockene Baumwollgewebe schnell und gleichmäßig durchnetzen. Verdünnt man nun aber die Laugen mit Wasser und dampft sie in einem offenen Gefäß wieder auf die ursprüngliche Konzentration ein, so zeigt sich, daß die nach dem neuen Verfahren verwendete Mercerisierlauge die Rohgewebe innerhalb von wenigen Sekunden wieder gleichmäßig durchnetzt, während die Vergleichslauge die Gewebe viel langsamer und ungleichmäßiger durchdringt.

Claims (1)

  1. Patentanspruch:
    Abänderung des Verfahrens zum Mercerisieren nach Patent 669 426, dadurch gekennzeichnet, daß man Mercerisierlaugen verwendet, die als phenolische Verbindungen an einem Kohlenstoffatom alkylierte Kresole oder halogenierte Phenole enthalten und in denen die nichtphenolischen Verbindungen teilweise durch Naphthensäuren oder Harzsäuren ersetzt sind.
