发明背景
本发明主题涉及纵向拉伸(MDO)膜和用于形成此类膜的组合物。本发明主题还涉及MDO膜在装饰技术、标签和膜上涂覆或未涂覆胶粘剂的贴标签应用中,以及在将胶粘剂直接涂覆于基材和间接涂覆于膜的情况中的用途。具体地,本发明主题涉及多层膜,所述多层膜具有内部核心层,所述内部核心层具有较高的聚乙烯含量,但却出乎意料地保留了聚乙烯含量较低的MDO膜才具有的透明度,并增强了耐磨强度。同时本发明还考虑了对此类膜进行表面处理,从而增强油墨固化性能,以及使用激光模切技术切割此类膜的效应。
众所周知,当聚合物膜受热时从非晶态变为拉伸态时,拉伸所述膜可赋予所述膜大范围改善的性能。这样形成的膜通常称为MDO(纵向拉伸)膜,可表现出改善的刚度、抗张强度、光学性能、测量一致性或厚度均匀性和阻隔性能。MDO膜的使用因减少了原材料的量而可以大幅节约成本,而且还能够改善性能。同时进行挤塑膜工艺和纵向拉伸,或者在执行吹塑膜工艺后执行纵向拉伸,这两种方法都可以制作出MDO膜。MDO工艺可在线上或线下进行,并且膜的各层可在模具内或外组合。
最常用的膜制造方法之一是吹塑膜(也可称为管状膜)挤塑。此工艺涉及通过环形模挤出塑料,然后膨胀成“气泡状”膜。使用此工艺制造膜时,仅需一次操作即可制造管材(扁平管和横褶管);通过控制膜泡内的空气量、挤出机的输出和引出机的速度,来调节膜宽度和厚度;消除平模膜挤出可能引致的端部效应(例如边缘球状物修剪)和温度不均;以及双向拉伸膜(允许提高机械性能的均匀性)。吹塑膜挤塑可用于制造共挤、多层膜,以应用在高阻隔性应用中,包括食品包装。
在一种吹膜挤塑工艺方法中,经由环形缝模挤出塑料熔体(通常采用垂直挤出的方法),以形成薄壁管。然后通过模具中心的孔引入空气,以使所述管像气球一样胀大。模具顶部安装的高速环形气囊往此热膜上吹气以使之冷却。然后,膜管继续上移并持续冷却,直到其通过轧辊,被轧辊压平,形成所谓的“平折”膜管。然后,此平折或收缩膜管经由更多的轧辊,沿挤出塔下降返回。在输出较高的生产线上,还会交换膜泡内的空气,这个过程称为内部膜泡冷却。然后,平折膜保留原样,或者将平折膜的边缘切掉以形成两块平膜板并绕在卷筒上。如果保留平折膜的原样,可通过沿膜宽度方向横向密封膜,然后切割或穿孔形成一个个膜袋,将膜管制成膜袋。此制袋过程可以与吹膜工艺同步进行,也可以在稍后阶段进行。
通常,模具与吹塑膜管之间的膨胀比将是模具直径的1.5至4倍。熔体壁厚与冷膜厚度在径向和纵向上均出现减小的情况,这可通过改变膜泡内的空气量,然后替代地或者另外地更改引出速度进行控制。这种处理方法可提高吹塑膜在各个方向上的性质一致性,而对于传统铸制膜或挤塑膜,所述性质只会沿挤出方向慢慢减小。
或者,也可利用双膜泡工艺制作膜。在此类工艺中,拉伸流水线通过所谓的“双膜泡工艺”进行工作,即,聚合物通过环形模挤出,然后水淬,以形成较厚的毛坯管,然后将毛坯管重新加热至合适的温度并吹气,以形成主要的薄膜泡。
启动阶段的充气会引起非接触式同步定向拉伸。这种充气可以实现横向拉伸,而由于拉伸轧辊与挤出塔轧辊之间存在速度差,使纵向拉伸也同步进行。膜泡被空气冷却,然后压扁;修整边缘后,得到的两张网绕在两个卷筒上。
通过对双向拉伸设备上产生的产物进行退火处理,可获得热定型膜,包括BOPP、BOPA和BOPET。完全或部分退火处理可作为生产过程的组成部分执行,也可随后稍后执行。
许多MDO膜是多层膜,且包括至少一层紧贴核心层的表层。鉴于乙烯醋酸乙烯酯(EVA)的“可压缩性”和适印性的性质,通常在一层或两层中使用EVA。
但是,由于EVA和基于EVA的材料需求和成本日益增长,含EVA的MDO膜价格预期会上升。再者,由于光伏产业等领域对EVA和基于EVA的材料需求的不断增长,可能会变得难以获取EVA膜或含EVA的膜。这就是选择含EVA的MDO膜面临的另一个难题。
因此,存在对能够容易制成MDO膜的膜材料的需要,这种材料应该具有减少的EVA含量,但是即便不能完全具备含EVA的MDO膜的所有性能,也要至少能够表现出这种膜的许多性能。同时还期望增加聚乙烯的用量,避免因为适形性提高而导致透明度降低的折衷。用于表层中时,通常聚乙烯含量越高,MDO膜的耐磨强度越低。
发明内容
在本发明的膜、标签组件、经标记制品及相关方法中解决了与先前已知的膜及其使用相关的困难和弊端。
在一个方面中,本发明主题提供了一种包括分层的拉伸膜,该分层包含:第一聚合物材料,该材料选自由以下项组成的组:聚乙烯(PE)均聚物、α聚烯烃、PE共聚物及其组合;和含聚丙烯(PP)的材料,该材料选自由以下项组成的组:PP均聚物、含PP的共聚物及其组合。第一聚合物材料的含量可高于、小于或等于含PP的材料的含量。

具体实施方式
本发明主题涉及一种拉伸膜,具体地涉及一种具有含有特定核心组合物的核心层的MDO膜。MDO膜一般包括1)至少一个表层和2)核心层。在本发明的许多实施方案中,MDO膜包括两个或更多个表层。尽管许多实施方案包括单一核心层,但是本发明主题包括在多层膜中使用多个核心层。实施方案还可包括多个相同配方组成的层,或者替代地可包含单层构造。一个或多个表层可包含本文描述的或者本领域常用的一种或多种材料。所述核心层包括第一聚合物材料与含聚丙烯的材料的共混物,所述第一聚合物材料选自由以下项组成的组:聚乙烯(PE)、α烯烃、PE共聚物及其组合;所述含聚丙烯的材料选自由以下项组成的组:PP均聚物、含PP的共聚物及其组合。替代地或另外,含PP的材料也可是PP三元共聚物。第一聚合物材料的含量可高于、小于或等于含PP的材料的含量。核心层包含上述共混物或混合物,且任选地包含一种或多种本文所述的其他组分。

聚乙烯可以选自线型低密度聚乙烯(LLDPE)、低密度聚乙烯(LDPE)、极低密度聚乙烯(VLDPE)(茂金属PE)、高密度聚乙烯(HDPE)及其组合。
PE共聚物组分可以是在聚合物链中具有极性官能度的各种官能化聚乙烯的形式。此类含PE的组分的非限制示例包括:乙烯醋酸乙烯酯(EVA)、乙烯丙烯酸(EAA)、乙烯甲基丙烯酸(EMA)、乙烯三元聚合物、酸酐改性乙烯、丙烯酸乙酯(EA)、与羧基和金属离子共聚的乙烯(沙林树脂)以及含酸或丙烯酸酯改性剂的乙烯醋酸乙烯酯。还可以使用含PE组分的组合。
聚丙烯可以是几乎任何合适的PP均聚物。
含PP的组分可以是聚丙烯与另一种单体或各单体的组合的共聚物或三元共聚物。它也可以称为异相聚丙烯或耐冲击共聚物。这些耐冲击共聚物的乙烯含量可以在1%至30%、或5%至25%或10%至18%的范围内。此类聚丙烯可以用齐格勒-纳塔催化剂和茂金属催化剂进行催化。
例如,在某些实施方案中,可以使用低乙烯含量或高乙烯含量的PP和PE的共聚物。术语“低乙烯含量”是指基于PP-PE共聚物,乙烯含量低于3.5%,一般从0.1%至3.2%。术语“高乙烯含量”是指基于PP-PE共聚物,乙烯含量为至少3.5%,一般从5.5%至7.5%。还可以预期乙烯含量范围最高可达10.5%。在某些实施方案中,可使用PP与一种或多种其他单体聚合的嵌段共聚物。含PP的组分可以是具有一个或多个官能化极性基团(诸如顺丁烯二酸酐)的PP的形式。含PP的组分也可以是PP三元共聚物的形式。还可以使用含PP组分的组合。
对于α聚烯烃组分,这种工艺是指聚丙烯和聚乙烯在催化剂的作用下产生丁烯、己烷或辛烯的共聚物的工艺。聚乙烯类型的示例有陶氏化学公司的Affinity EG8200、埃克森美孚的Exact 4049、埃克森美孚的Exceed 3515CB、诺瓦化学的FPs-417-A以及三井化学的Tafmer A和P系列产品。聚丙烯类型的示例有三井化学的Tafmer XM系列和利安德巴塞尔工业公司的DP8220M。此外还有乙烯和α烯烃的共聚物以及丙烯和α烯烃的共聚物。除了聚乙烯(PE)和/或α烯烃和PE共聚物中的至少一者与聚丙烯(PP)和含PP的共聚物中的至少一者的共混物以外,膜或核心组合物也可包含附加组分。PE和含PE的组分中的至少一者的量可大于、小于或等于PP和PP共聚物中的至少一者的量。
例如,膜或核心组合物也可以包含基于苯乙烯的组分、尼龙、成核剂以及各种各样的填充剂和其他试剂,这部分内容将在本文进一步详细介绍。
对于许多实施方案,在核心层中,PE和/或含PE的组分的量大于或小于PP和/或含PP的组分的量。在本发明主题的特定实施方案中,核心层包含至少9%的PE和/或含PE的组分,最多约89%的PE和/或含PE的组分。在某些实施方案中,核心层包含约25%的PE和/或含PE的组分。除非另外指明,否则本文提及的所有量均为重量。再者,除非另外指明,否则本文提及的所有百分比均为重量百分比。
在拥有多个表层和至少一个核心层的多层膜的某些实施方案中,表层可以在组成上与核心层(单层)匹配,或者表层可以在组成上与核心层(多层)不同。
在某些实施方案中,一个或多个表层包含聚丙烯(PP)、乙烯醋酸乙烯酯(EVA)、线型低密度聚乙烯(LLDPE)、线型低密度聚丙烯(PP)、高密度聚乙烯(HDPE)、高密度聚丙烯(HDPP)、苯乙烯双嵌段共聚物、各种离聚物树脂(例如杜邦公司以名称

在本发明主题的多层膜的许多实施方案中,核心层的重量比例高于表层的重量比例,或者,如果使用了多个表层,则大于表层的总重量比例。所述重量比例基于多层膜的总重量。例如,在某些实施方案中,核心层的重量比例是多层膜的重量的60%至90%。而且,一个或多个表层(例如,两个表层)的重量比例是多层膜的重量的10%至40%。在具体实施方案中,核心层的重量比例为约70%,而表层的重量比例为约30%。
在核心层的PE含量大于当前可用的MDO膜(一些为15%,而另一些使用30%)的多层膜的具体实施方案中,核心层的PE含量无需达到80%,本发明主题的膜也可以实现较好的结果。因此,在具体实施方案中,核心层中的PE含量为约30%至80%,而在某些实施方案中,为35%至75%。
核心组合物包含两种组分的共混物,(a)即,PE和/或含PE的组分,和(b)PP和/或含PP的组分,这两种组分可通过在Bandbury磨机、挤出机或类似传统设备中熔融共混,而组合成均质混合物。或者,通过溶液共混或干混该两种组分,然后通过挤出操作以熔融的方式制作干混料,来制作共混物。
本发明主题的核心层组合物和表层组合物可包含其他添加剂,以改变相应组合物的特性。例如,组合物中可包含着色剂和矿物填料,例如二氧化钛、碳酸钙、滑石、二氧化硅、云母等。例如,存在少量二氧化钛会导致不透明或百分组合物。组合物中可包含矿物填料。一般而言,其他添加剂的量在以重量计约1%至约40%的范围内,更经常地在以重量计约1%至约20%的范围内。要考虑有机填料。本发明主题的组合物中可能包含的其他添加剂包括成核剂、澄清剂、荧光增白剂、金属颗粒、纤维、阻燃剂、抗氧化剂、热稳定剂、光稳定剂、紫外光稳定剂、防粘连剂、加工助剂等。
由于本发明主题的某些膜的两个或更多个接触层可具有粘在一起或者粘连的倾向(例如,当膜绕在卷筒上时),所以可在组合物中添加防粘连剂。防粘连剂一般是无机矿物填料,其可通过减少膜层之间紧密接触来减少“粘连”。本发明主题的组合物中可包含的防粘连剂包括矿物填料,例如硅藻土、滑石、碳酸钙、交联聚甲基丙烯酸甲酯(PMMA)、二氧化硅和合成二氧化硅。交联PMMA和合成二氧化硅是两种最常用的防粘连剂。
在本发明主题的某些实施方案中,核心组合物也可包含一种或多种增容剂。在一个实施方案中,增容剂可包含与极性反应物共聚或接枝到极性反应物的聚烯烃。例如,增容剂可以是丙烯酸改性的聚丙烯接枝共聚物(例如BP化工的

本发明主题的组合物为热塑性组合物,并且适用于挤出、吹塑以及各种制品的制作,例如模制品、挤压型材、管件制品、膜、薄板、层压制品等。可通过加入发泡剂或者其他众所周知的添加剂,如颗粒成核剂,然后挤制组合物,来从本发明主题的组合物制作泡沫。
本发明主题的组合物对于制备具备所需特性的连续膜特别有用,尤其是对于标签应用。这些膜通过所属领域的技术人员已知的挤压技术进行制备,并且膜的厚度可在约0.5至约5.7或10密耳的范围内。更经常地,膜厚度将为约1.2至约4密耳,并且最经常地为约2.0至约3.5密耳。
在许多实施方案中,最好使用纵向拉伸的组合物制作这些膜。例如,膜可以至少2:1的比率纵向热拉伸。更经常地,膜将以介于2:1与9:1之间的拉伸比进行热拉伸。可以通过本领域中已知的各种技术来执行拉伸,诸如通过吹制、铸塑或拉幅工艺。在膜已经热拉伸后,膜一般要通过退火辊,在退火辊处在约50℃(更经常地100℃)至约150℃的温度范围内对膜进行退火或热定形处理,然后执行冷却处理。此类拉伸处理可提供给膜改善的性能,诸如增强膜的刚度,以及在某些情况下改善适印性。尽管不希望受限于任何理论,但是据信,拉伸导致表面聚合物分布和有效表面积发生变化,进而导致增强的适印性。还据信,拉伸温度也会影响适印性。较低的拉伸温度一般产生具有增强适印性的膜。膜的纵向拉伸模量也因为拉伸而增加,从而提高了尺寸稳定性,实现良好的印刷套准。在某些实施方案中,纵向拉伸改善了膜的模具可切割性以及这些膜制成的标签的可分配性。在某些实施方案中,还改善了耐磨性或耐磨强度。如再次更详细描述的,本发明主题的MDO膜表现出了出色的适印性和可压缩性特征。适印性一般通过膜表面粘附的油墨量进行衡量。如在工业中已知的,如果标签能够在可压缩容器(例如某些洗发水瓶或化妆盒)上使用,行业通常将拥有这类特性的标签称为“可压缩标签”。一般而言,可压缩标签的指标是该标签的适形性特征。标签可压缩性可通过膜的模量进行量化。一般而言,膜的模量越低,则膜的可压缩性越高。在某些实施方案中,本发明主题的膜也表现出良好的抗划伤性。抗划伤性可以通过本领域中已知的Sutherland摩擦测试以及通过硬度测试进行量化。一般而言,膜的硬度越高,则膜的抗划伤性越高。本文还进一步详细描述了本发明主题的这些和其他特性与特征。
尽管在本发明的许多实施方案中,膜在一个或多个方向上拉伸,但是应理解,在其他实施方案中,膜可能未经过拉伸。
本发明主题的膜可以是由所描述的本发明主题的组合物制成的单层膜。或者,本发明的膜可以是多层膜,其中,所述层中的至少一层(诸如核心层)包含本发明主题的组合物。聚合物膜的功能层可在膜的一侧或者两侧上。功能层或功能膜被定义为被包括以提供某些特性如耐气候性、适印性、阻隔层、防静电等的某一层。此类多层膜可通过以下方式制备:共挤两个或更多个层;使用本发明主题的组合物挤制连续膜,然后通过挤制一个或多个附加层来将所述一个或多个附加层施加在挤制的膜上;将本主题的预成型膜层压成预成型功能膜;或者利用聚合物膜成形材料的乳化液或溶液在膜上沉积附加层。
本主题的多层构型中可包含功能膜或功能层,以为该膜提供附加的和/或改善的特性,诸如适印性、可压缩性、模具可切割性、耐气候性、刚性、耐磨性等。例如,可在膜的打印标记上挤制或层压透明涂层或膜,以防止由于直接接触相邻物体而损坏印刷品,以及防止由于接触潮湿环境、水或天气而造成的损坏。透明涂层也可以增强底层打印标记的光学性能,从而提供更有光泽和更饱满的图像。也可以包括功能膜来改善膜与基材的附着力。
相对于核心膜的厚度,增加的功能膜一般较薄,但是,在某些应用中,功能层越厚越好。功能膜通常称为表层,尤其是当比核心膜薄时。或者,本发明主题的膜可用作表层,覆盖更厚的基膜(可为多层膜)。表层可与基膜共挤,或者层压在预成型基膜上。
许多热塑性聚合物都可以用于形成功能膜,且所选择的特定热塑性聚合物是将提供给结构所需特性的热塑性聚合物。有用材料的示例包括聚苯乙烯、聚乙烯、聚酰胺、聚酯、聚碳酸酯、聚氨酯、聚丙烯酸酯、聚乙烯醇、聚(乙烯-乙烯醇)、聚醋酸乙烯酯、离聚物,及其混合物。乙烯醋酸乙烯酯共聚物对于可印刷的覆盖层尤其有用。
可使用本发明主题的组合物制备的膜非常有用,尤其是在制备用于制备胶粘标签的面纸和随后的标签纸时。标签纸一般包括膜面纸(其可以是单层或多层)和胶粘剂层。胶粘剂层一般接触并附着于本发明主题的膜的一个表面。
本发明主题的标签纸中所利用的胶粘剂层可直接涂于所示层的下表面上,或者可从与面纸相结合的衬里转移胶粘剂。一般而言,胶粘剂层的厚度为约0.4至约1.6密耳(10至约40微米)。通常本领域可提供适用于本发明主题的标签纸的胶粘剂。一般而言,这些胶粘剂包括压敏胶粘剂、热活化胶粘剂、热熔胶粘剂等。压敏胶粘剂(PSA)是特别有用的。这些胶粘剂包括丙烯酸类胶粘剂以及其他弹性体,如包含苯乙烯、丁二烯、氰乙烯、异戊二烯和异丁烯的聚合物或共聚物的天然橡胶或合成橡胶。PSA也是在本领域众所周知的,并且任何已知的这类胶粘剂都可以和本发明主题的面纸配合使用。在一个实施方案中,PSA基于丙烯酸酯(例如丙烯酸辛酯)与极性共聚用单体(例如丙烯酸)的共聚物。此类胶粘剂可能是基于乳化液、基于热熔体或者基于溶剂的。这类胶粘剂可能是永久的,可去除的,或者可通过水洗、碱洗或其他溶剂循环的。
也可以直接使用油墨将其他表层印刷在标签纸上,或者可在标签纸上涂覆底漆或者面漆,然后用油墨印刷在面漆上。该印刷品或面漆层的组成可同于或不同于胶粘剂表层的组成。示例性的面漆可以基于聚氨酯、丙烯酸或聚酯。此外,胶粘剂或表层可以经电晕处理或火烧处理。替代地或者另外,表层可通过真空金属喷镀工艺进行金属化。
如先前所述,在一些情况下,可通过在本发明主题的膜上层叠膜层,来改善本文所述的膜和面纸的特性。该覆膜层可提供附加特性给胶粘剂构造,诸如刚性和耐气候性。该覆膜层也可以在打印标记上提供透明涂层或膜,以防止由于直接接触相邻物体而损坏印刷品,以及防止由于接触潮湿环境、水或天气而造成的损坏。透明涂层也可以增强底层打印标记的光学性能,从而提供更有光泽和更饱满的图像。本发明的覆膜构造特别适合用作会经受后续液体处理(例如瓶子清洗/冲洗、充装和巴氏杀菌或浸液(例如冰浴))的基材上的标签,而不会显示不良后果,诸如标签剥离或起雾。
当为有胶粘材料层插置在胶粘结构的连续聚合物膜与覆膜层之间的连续膜形式时,所述覆膜层可在受压的情况下层压至本发明主题的膜上。当膜或覆膜由在被热活化时会形成其自己的层压胶粘表面的材料制成时,所述覆膜层可在受热和受压的情况下层压至膜。可在聚丙烯膜表面和/或覆膜层背面表面上设置打印标记。
图1为根据本发明主题的多层膜10的一个实施方案的横截面示意图。膜10包括第一表层20、第二表层30以及设置在表层20与30之间的核心层40。在某些实施方案中,核心层40设在表层20与30之间,并且紧贴这两个表层,如图1所示。但是,本发明主题还包括核心层不紧贴一个或两个表层的实施方案,例如如果这两个表层之间设置有一个或多个附加层的话。
图2为本发明主题的多层膜110的另一个实施方案的横截面示意图。膜110包括第一组表层122和124,统称为表层120。膜110还包括第二组表层132和134,统一称为表层130。膜110还包括设置在表层120与130之间的核心层140。
图3为根据本发明主题的多层膜210的另一个实施方案的横截面示意图。膜210包括第一表层220、第二表层230以及一组核心层242和244,统一示出为240,设置在表层220与230之间。
图4为根据本发明主题的多层膜310的另一个实施方案的横截面示意图。膜310包括第一表层320、第二表层330以及仅紧贴一个表层(即层330)的核心层340。
图5为根据本发明主题的标签组件410的横截面示意图。标签组件410包括多层膜,该多层膜尽管示出为图1的膜10,但是也可以是膜110、210、310中的任何一者或者本文描述的其他膜。标签组件410还包括胶粘剂层450紧贴所述膜的各层中的一者。一般而言,胶粘剂是压敏胶粘剂,但是本发明主题包括一系列其他胶粘剂。
图6为根据本发明主题图5所示的标签组件410施加至聚合物基材560后,进而形成标签系统510的横截面示意图。
图7为根据本发明主题的经标记容器610的透视示意图。经标记容器610包括施加至基材560的外表面(例如,可以是容器的侧壁)的图5和图6所示的标签组件410。
实施例
制备根据本发明主题的各种多层膜。每个多层膜包括设置在两个表层之间的单一核心层。在一些实施例中,表层的组成相同,而在其他实施例中,表层的组成不同。核心层的重量比例为70%,而每层表层的重量比例为15%。表1归纳了具有表层-核心层-表层布置的多层膜以及各层的组成。

假设经标记制品(包括经标记瓶)可能要在高速生产线上的金属轨道或内衬高密度聚乙烯的金属轨道上进行传送,增强的耐磨强度合乎这种需要。经标记制品遭遇的壁摩擦可能导致表面缺陷,包括划伤或擦伤标记,这在经标记制品中是在美学上令人不愉快的并且非期望的。在某些应用中,出于美学角度考虑,可能需要雾度低的透明标签,例如,在贴到瓶身后肉眼很难看到的标签——“无标签感外观”。过去使用的是具有一定雾度的HDPE容器和LDPE容器。当前的趋势是使用聚酯瓶,这类瓶子瓶身透明,因此,可能需要更为透明的标签,才能实现相同的“无标签感外观”。下表罗列了多种膜进行对比,还给出了从Sutherland摩擦测试获取的耐划伤结果,其中划伤数量与抗划伤性成反比。

上述数据显示,与之前的MDO膜(即Global Coex(GCX)、Global MDO、Fasclear250)相比,实施例8和9的膜的抗划伤性相对较高,而雾度相对较低。此外,相比吹制PE膜(Avery PE 85),实施例8和9的膜所表现出来的耐磨强度和抗划伤性组合更合乎需要。相比(GCX和Global MDO),实施例8和9的聚乙烯含量较高,但仍然表现出增强的耐磨强度。之前的实验显示,聚乙烯含量与耐磨强度之间呈反比关系;因此,实施例8和9的性能结果出乎意料。
膜的另一个方面是关于纵向刚度与横向刚度的比。在正常情况下,MDO膜在一个方向(纵向)上拉伸,得到的膜的纵向刚度较高,横向刚度较低。横向无拉伸时,人们通常将会局限于横向刚度的输出所获得的任何结果。在上述新配方中,包括实施例8和9,横向刚度可通过改变膜的组成进行操纵。通过此类配制方法,可得到特性比MDO膜更为均衡的膜,无需使用机械手段来横向拉伸膜。因此,可制作可适形,但横向无“褶皱”的标签;这个结果再次出乎意料。纵向/横向刚度比为1.0描述了理想平衡的状态。这些新配方接近这个理想状态,并解决了MDO膜的刚度、适形性和透明度之间内在折衷的特有问题,且可以产生所需的最终使用益处,包括增强装饰技术的可改变性,用在保健和个人护理应用中,提高再循环能力、阻隔性能,在蒸汽灭菌、耐用标签、制药、血液袋、新瓶贴标和管道等领域广泛应用,同时,通过金属喷镀或金属油墨印刷改善美感。如表3所示,所披露的标签的纵向刚度与横向刚度的比率可在1.2至1.9的范围内。更具体地说,比率可在1.24至1.89的范围内。

标签的另一个物理属性称为适形性,指的是在标签起皱和死褶以及形成其他类似缺陷之前,用户可施加于瓶子上的“压缩”量。在施加至瓶子期间,膜适形性越好,归因于胶粘剂浸湿、瓶子移动和当瓶子贴标并施加内容物时(瓶子扩口/往空瓶加入材料以及后续清空)出现的其他类似现实生活现象可能引起的缺陷就越少。
已经存在一个范例是,适形性较好的标签(PE膜或MDO膜),其纵向和横向(可适形)的模量趋于较低,但雾度也趋于较高。BOPP膜是透明的,但是模量较高(刚硬,因此不可适形)。如此,期望有适形性好、雾度低的膜。在这些表格中,PE 85、Fasclear 250以及实施例8和9视为完全可适形。Global Coex和Global MDO视为半可适形,而BOPP视为刚硬(即,不可适形)。

随着标签处理加工技术持续发展,除了传统的金属砧和镁模切割方法以外,还有另一种标签处理加工方法是使用激光进行处理加工。标签处理加工使用的激光的工作波长一般为10.2和10.6微米(接近红外波长),但是其他波长也可以使用。这些波长的激光可用于切割其分层包含一种或多种材料的那些标签,这些材料为诸如BOPP(白色透明)、PE(白色透明)、纸张、PET(白色透明)以及MDO膜(同样白色透明)。值得注意的是,这些材料中的每一者(和/或内含的添加剂)会吸收由前文所述的传统激光发射出来的波长的光。一般而言,白色膜和纸张可正确进行模切,即,此类材料会吸收为10.2微米波长和10.6微米波长中的至少一者的光,并产生从基质上切割的标签;出于此应用的目的,此类材料称为“可激光模切”。但是,PE膜当前不适合激光模切,考虑到它能够吸收激光,这也给标签行业中那些希望拥有也适合模切的可适形膜的人员带来了问题。人们自然会希望激光在符合以下标准的膜上可很好地模切:1)低熔点,以及2)采用的构型可允许材料吸收激光。就MDO膜的激光模切而言,Avery Dennison公司在市场上销售的Fasclear膜满足人们所期待的激光模切标准,但是这些膜并非光学透明,这就进一步限制了标签的选择。
与本领域的普通技术人员所预想的相反,已发现可适形的透明MDO标签可激光模切。因为聚合物的熔点实际上高于之前证明可激光切割的材料的熔点,且这些材料不在激光的吸收带内,所以这个表现出乎意料。

除了增强了本发明的耐用性和激光可切割性之外,本发明还增强了油墨在所披露的膜上的附着力,并缩短了油墨固化时间。油墨在膜基材上的固化速度决定了质量(越快越好)和印刷时间。换言之,在特定基材(例如,标签)上,油墨固化越快,印刷机运行就越快,进而提高印刷设备的工作效率和生产能力。在许多情况下,要求配设转换器来实现油墨附着性能与印刷速度的平衡,这是因为研究发现,油墨附着性能与印刷速度呈反比关系。作为避免油墨附着力与印刷速度之间折衷的方式,业内已经研发出内在性质上可印刷的膜(即,无涂层的膜,无论是面漆或印刷底漆);或者,可在要印刷的面纸表面上沉积印刷底漆或面漆。沉积面漆或底漆自然会提高油墨的附着性能,但是在标签纸上附加这种材料也会提高标签构型的成本。鉴于日益加强的食品接触监管、行业对可持续性发展的日益重视以及成本原因,期望获得增强油墨附着性能,而不会因为在标签纸上涂面漆而需要付出附加成本和时间。
在本领域中认识到,树脂配方与表面处理的组合可以实现所需的印刷/油墨附着结果,而不论处理方法是电晕、等离子还是火焰处理或火焰等离子处理。在一种情况中,可使用介于40:60与60:40之间的燃料氧气比,从1800至2500btu/in对膜进行火焰处理或火焰等离子处理。作为一种技术,表面处理会提高标签纸表面的达因水平,从而相应增加油墨附着力。但是,通过印刷测试意外发现油墨的固化速率增加。鉴于这个出乎意料的结果,移除在于印刷机转换器可以加快运行,并且通过施加增强的表面处理,仍然可以获得相同的油墨附着力。此类固化速率导致以更高速率运行印刷设备的能力,进而提高生产能力和生产效率,继而降低每单位面积成本。
对使用标准Flint四色油墨(CMYK)的Mark Andy 4150印刷机进行测试后得出表6中的数据。经过电晕处理后的对比膜(Avery Fasclear)运行速度可达325fpm,直到开始缺乏油墨,而在500fpm时,经过火焰处理的同一膜以失败告终。与此相反,实施例8和实施例9二者在印刷速度为325fpm时进行电晕处理后以及在500fpm时进行火焰处理后均可以实现100%的油墨附着力。

若要制作适合电晕处理的膜,相比制作适合火焰处理或火焰等离子处理的膜,必须使用更多数目的功能聚合物。功能聚合物使膜适合电晕处理,相对于适合火焰处理或火焰等离子处理的膜,获得的膜整体较为柔软,因此耐磨度较低。而适合火焰处理或火焰等离子处理的膜含有较少的功能聚合物,因此,与制备用于后续电晕处理的膜相比,硬度相对较高,所以耐磨度较佳。
本发明主题的膜和多层组件有望在各行各业得到广泛应用。膜主要用作膜标签或者贴标和包装材料的装饰媒介。
必须注意,所有说明的多层膜和标签组件都可包含附加层或材料。本发明主题绝不仅限于所述的特定实施方案。
毫无疑问,此技术经过未来应用和不断发展,许多其他益处将逐渐突显出来。
本文所述所有专利、公开申请和文章也因此全部内容以引用方式并入本文中。
如上所述,本发明主题解决了许多与之前策略、系统和/或设备相关的问题。但是,必须认识到:为了解说本发明主题的本质,已经描述和示出部件的细节、材料和布置,本领域的技术人员在不偏离所附权利要求书中记载的要求保护的主题的原则和范围的情形下可以进行各种改变。

Claims (16)

1.一种多层膜,其包括布置在第一表层和第二表层之间的核心层,所述核心层包括:
1)第一聚合物材料,所述第一聚合物材料选自由以下各项组成的组:聚乙烯 (PE) 均聚物、α 聚烯烃、含乙烯的共聚物及其组合,其中所述聚乙烯均聚物选自由以下各项组成的组:线型低密度聚乙烯 (LLDPE)、低密度聚乙烯 (LDPE)、极低密度聚乙烯 (VLDPE)、高密度聚乙烯 (HDPE)及其组合;和
2) 至少一种含聚丙烯 (PP) 的材料,所述材料选自由以下各项组成的组:PP 均聚物、含丙烯 的共聚物及其组合,
其中所述膜纵向与横向的刚度比介于0.87:1和1.9:1,其利用L & W抗弯强度测试仪测定,
其中所述膜以2:1 至 9:1 范围的拉伸率通过热拉伸仅在纵向上被拉伸,
其中所述第一表层和第二表层由选自以下的至少一种成分组成:聚丙烯 (PP)、乙烯醋酸乙烯酯 (EVA)、线型低密度聚乙烯 (LLDPE)、线型低密度聚丙烯 (PP)、高密度聚乙烯(HDPE)、高密度聚丙烯 (HDPP)、苯乙烯双嵌段共聚物、离聚物树脂类、线型低密度聚乙烯(LLDPE)、极低密度聚乙烯 (VLDPE)、乙烯丙烯酸 (EAA) 共聚物及其组合,以及
其中所述核心层的组成与所述第一表层和所述第二表层中至少一者的组成相同。
2.根据权利要求1所述的膜,其中所述第一聚合物材料在所述聚合物材料中包含极性官能度。
3.根据权利要求 1所述的膜,其中所述第一聚合物材料包含 α 聚烯烃。
4.根据权利要求 1所述的膜,其中所述含 PP 的材料是PP 均聚物。
5.根据权利要求 1所述的膜,其中所述含 PP 的材料选自由以下各项组成的组:(i)乙烯含量低的丙烯和乙烯的共聚物;(ii) 乙烯含量高的丙烯 和乙烯的共聚物;(iii) 丙烯与一种或多种其它单体的嵌段共聚物;(iv)具有一个或多个官能化极性基团的 PP;(v)PP 的三元共聚物;及其组合。
6.根据权利要求 1 至 5 中任一项权利要求所述的膜,其中包含所述第一聚合物材料和所述含 PP 的材料的所述核心层的聚乙烯为 按重量计25% 至 95%。
7.根据权利要求6所述的膜,其中所述核心层的所述聚乙烯为按重量计30% 至 80%。
8.根据权利要求6所述的膜,其中所述核心层的所述聚乙烯为按重量计35% 至 75%。
9.根据权利要求 1 至 5 中任一项权利要求所述的膜,其中所述核心层还包含 EVA和基于 EVA 的组分中的至少一者。
10.根据权利要求 1 至 5 中任一项权利要求所述的膜,其中所述膜可激光模切。
11.根据权利要求 1 至 5中任一项权利要求所述的膜,其中所述膜采用火焰处理。
12.根据权利要求 1 至 5 中任一项权利要求所述的膜,其中所述第一聚合物材料的含量高于所述含 PP 的材料的含量。
13.一种标签组件,包括:
根据权利要求1至12中任一项所述的膜;和
胶粘剂层,
其中所述胶粘剂是压敏胶粘剂。
14.根据权利要求13所述的标签组件,其中所述标签组件可激光模切。
15.根据权利要求13或权利要求14所述的标签组件,其中所述标签组件采用火焰处理。
16.一种制作经标记制品的方法,所述方法包括:
提供有表面可粘贴标签的制品;
提供包括根据权利要求1至12中任一项所述的膜的标签组件;和胶粘剂层;
将所述标签组件的所述胶粘剂层粘附于所述制品的所述表面,进而制作经标记制品。
