Abstract

背景技术
由于控制信令开销的负担,小数据传输正在成为无线通信尤其4G(例如,LTE)无线电的问题。相比于3G,4G提供总是连接的数据模式,其中,用户设备(UE)具有IP地址。无论何时UE连接至LTE网络,默认(例如,尽力服务)流程与IP地址一起被分配给UE。除了UE与增强形节点B(eNB)之间的连接,该IP连接要求eNB与核心网之间的承载建立。因此,建立连接要求大量的信令开销。当交换的数据量非常大时(例如,在诸如网页浏览或文件传输之类的应用中),该开销可以忽略不计。但是许多其他应用(例如像脸谱(Facebook)、推特(Twitter)和机器类型通信(MTC)应用(例如,智能停车表)的社交网络应用),与在建立LTE连接和拆除LTE连接中涉及的信令开销相比,传送的数据量可能非常小(例如,几百比特)。

图1根据一些实施例用网络的各种部件显示了LTE(长期演进)网络的端到端网络架构的一部分。网络包括通过S1接口115耦合在一起的无线接入网(RAN)(例如,如所描述的,E-UTRAN或演进的通用陆地无线接入网)和核心网120(例如,被示出为演进分组核心(EPC))。为了方便和简洁起见,只示出了核心网的一部分以及RAN的一部分。

MME在功能上与遗留的服务GPRS支持节点(SGSN)的控制面相似。它管理接入中的移动性方面,例如网关选择和跟踪区域列表管理。服务GW 124终止面向RAN的接口,并且在RAN与核心网之间路由数据分组。另外,它可以是eNB间切换的本地移动性锚点,并且也可以提供3GPP间移动性的锚点。其他职责可以包括合法拦截、计费和一些策略执行。服务GW和MME可以被实现于一个物理节点或不同的物理节点中。PDN GW终止面向分组数据网络(PDN)的SGi接口。它在EPC与外部PDN之间路由数据分组,并且可以是用于策略执行和计费数据收集的关键节点。它还可以针对向非LTE接入的移动提供锚点。外部PDN可以是任一种IP网络以及IP多媒体子系统(IMS)域。PDN GW和服务GW可以被实现在一个物理节点或不同的物理节点中。
eNB(宏和微)终止空中接口协议,并且通常是(即使不是总是)UE102的第一接触的点。在一些实施例中,eNB可以实现RAN的各种逻辑功能,这些逻辑功能包括但不限于RNC(无线电网络控制器功能),例如无线电承载管理、上行链路和下行链路动态无线电资源管理和数据分组调度、以及移动性管理。
S1接口是将RAN和EPC分开的接口。它被分成两个部分:S1-U,该S1-U在eNB与服务GW之间携带流量数据;和S1-MME,该S1-MME是eNB与MME之间的信令接口。X2接口是eNB之间(至少大部分之间,如将在下面被寻址的微eNB)的接口。X2接口包括两个部分,X2-C和X2-U。X2-C是eNB之间的控制面接口,而X2-U是eNB之间的用户面接口。
在蜂窝网络中,LP小区通常被用来将覆盖扩展至室外信号不能很好到达的室内区域,或增大诸如火车站之类的具有非常密集的电话使用的区域中的网络容量。如本文所使用的,术语低功率(LP)eNB涉及用于实现较窄小区(比宏小区更窄)(例如,毫微微小区、微微小区或微小区)的任意合适的相对低功率的eNB。毫微微小区eNB通常由移动网络运营商来提供给其住宅客户或企业客户。毫微微小区通常是住宅网关的大小或更小,并且一般连接至用户的宽带线路。一旦插入,毫微微小区连接至移动运营商的移动网络,并且为住宅毫微微小区提供通常30至50米范围的额外覆盖。因此,LP eNB可以是毫微微小区eNB,因为它通过PDN GW 126被耦合。类似地,微微小区是通常覆盖小区域(例如,建筑物内(办公室、购物中心和火车站等等)或近来飞机内)的无线通信系统。微微小区eNB一般可以通过它的基站控制器(BSC)功能经由X2链路连接至另一eNB(例如,宏eNB)。因此,LP eNB 106可以用微微小区eNB来实现,因为它通过X2接口被耦合至宏eNB。微微小区eNB或用于此的其他LP eNB可以包含宏eNB的一些或所有功能。在一些情况下,这可以被称为接入点基站或企业毫微微小区。

小数据传输的一些常规技术已经提出仅使用控制面解决方案,由此UE不必建立任何数据承载,并且因此,在通过空中接口建立连接中节省时间和空中接口资源。然而,这些控制面解决方案被约束在几种方式。例如,涉及通过控制面发送数据的解决方案仅可以被用于单程发送的流量(例如,UE发送数据至发送方(例如,移动发起(MO)数据)或UE从发送方接收数据(例如,移动终止(MT)数据)),而在连接期间不允许二者同时进行。另一约束是UE在连接期间可能只能够发送一个IP分组。这些约束中的一些约束由于缺少被分配IP地址的UE而出现。
本文所公开的实施例可以帮助最小化特别针对小数据传输建立连接的控制面开销。这些实施例可以被应用于MTC和非MTC设备,并且允许多个TCP/IP分组在UE 102与目的地之间被交换。
图2示出了RRC连接建立过程。如上面所提到的,存在几个这样的步骤,这些步骤涉及通过UE 102与eNB 104之间的和eNB 104与核心网EPC 120之间的空中接口来建立连接。消息可以在UE 102与eNB 104之间被交换,并且消息中的一些消息可以在eNB 104、MME122、S-GW 124和PDN-GW 126之间被交换。根据实施例,可以对图2的步骤做出一些改变,以帮助最小化针对小数据传输而建立连接的控制面开销。
当UE 102需要从空闲状态发送数据时,UE可以按照与步骤1相同的步骤,然而直到在RRC连接请求中,UE可以声明建立原因是完成小数据传输。目前,该原因不存在。其次,UE102可以指示在传输期间它是否需要移动性支持。这为即使对于小数据传输也可能需要移动性支持的非MTC设备提供了支持,因为即使在传输小数据时设备可能高速移动。
在步骤6,当eNB 104将UE的附着请求转发至MME 122时,eNB 104还可以包括去往MME的关于小数据传输的信息。
在步骤7,MME 122可以验证该特定的UE 102是否可以被允许执行小数据传输,并且可以发送接受。MME 122可以将该连接的RRC不活动定时器修改为非常小的值(例如,使用网络RTT值,例如250ms,而不是当前平均的510秒)。
在步骤8,基于UE 102是否指示需要移动性支持,eNB 104可以包括用来执行报告给UE 102的测量的信息。如果不要求支持,则eNB 104抑制发送这样的信息来节省空中接口资源。然后UE 102一旦其IP地址被分配便可以执行数据分组传输。eNB 104可以在持续于端到端往返时间的平均时间的更短的不活动期之后释放UE的连接来确保在该连接期间预期没有其他的分组。

在一些实施例中,eNB 104可以将字段添加至从UE 102接收到的附着请求消息304,以生成初始UE设置请求消息306。所添加的字段可以指示专用非接入频谱(NAS)信息要素(IE)中的小数据。具有所添加的字段的附着请求消息304可以由eNB 104转发给MME 122。
在一些实施例中,eNB 104可以在缩减的RRC不活动定时器的到期之前通过建立的小数据RRC连接与UE 102传输小数据分组312。小数据分组312可以具有针对小数据传输的预定的最大大小。
在一些实施例中,UE 102可以是机器类型通信(MTC)设备。在一些实施例中,UE102是包括智能手机的移动设备。在一些实施例中,小数据RRC连接请求消息包括指示不具有移动性的小数据流量的建立原因值。在一些实施例中,小数据RRC连接请求消息包括指示具有移动性的小数据流量的建立原因值。在一些实施例中,针对小数据传输的预定的最大大小是1-Kbyte,但是实施例的范围不限于这个方面。
根据实施例,新建立原因值在RRC连接请求(RRC Connection Request)消息(“具有移动性的小数据流量”和“不具有移动性的小数据流量”)中被提供。此外,新机制被提供给eNB 104来将连接请求是小数据传输通知给MME 122。在由eNB转发至MME 122的附着请求消息中,字段可以被添加以在专用信息NAS IE中指示小数据消息。eNB 104可以向MME 122指示这是小数据传输,并且还可以在附着请求NAS消息的顶部指示是否要求移动性支持。当eNB 104接收附着接受消息时,eNB 104可以发送RRC连接重配置(RRC ConnectionReconfiguration)消息(基于是否要求移动性支持,没有测量IE,没有移动性IE)。MME 122还可以发送用于快速连接释放的更新的RRC不活动定时器值。如果核心网120知道这是小数据传输连接,则器可能不会长时间保留S-GW 124与eNB 104之间的和PDN-GW 126与S-GW124之间的通道信息,并且也可能更早地释放承载资源。

这里所公开的实施例可以应用于MTC设备和非MTC设备两者的小数据传输。本文所公开的实施例可以允许发送多个IP分组和多个TCP/IP分组。本文所公开的实施例可以适用于移动设备和非移动设备。本文所公开的实施例可以减少移动设备的测量配置的影响,节省信令开销。公开的实施不会危及安全。本文所公开的实施例可以通过快速释放连接来节省UE电力,同样节省网络资源。
在一些实施例中,用于小数据传输的分组在大小上更小(例如,大约几百字节),具有平均100bit的分组大小,并且可以具有1Kbyte的预定的最大大小,但是实施例的范围不限于这个方面。在一些实施例中,eNB 104可以抑制包括这样的建立原因值,该建立原因值指示用于RRC连接请求的小数据流量,其中,该RRC连接请求不是针对小数据流量的。

由UE 400利用的一个或多个天线401可以包括一个或多个定向天线或全向天线,例如包括,偶极天线,单极天线,贴片天线,环形天线,微带天线或适合用于RF信号的传输的其它类型的天线。在一些实施例中,具有多个孔径的单个天线可以被使用,而不是两个或更多个天线。在这些实施例中,每一孔径可以被当做单独的天线。在一些多输入多输出(MIMO)实施例中,天线可以被有效地分离,以利用空间分集和在每一天线与发送站的天线之间可能产生的不同的信道特性。在一些MIMO实施例中,天线可以被分离达波长的1/10或更多。

在一些LTE实施例中,无线资源的基本单元是物理资源块(PRB)。PRB可以包括频域中12个子载波x时域中0.5ms。PRB可以成对被分配(在时域中)。在这些实施例中,PRB可以包括多个资源要素(RE)。RE可以包括一个子载波x一个符号。
两种类型的参考信号可以由eNB来发送,包括解调参考信号(DM-RS)、信道状态信息参考信号(CIS-RS)和/或公共参考信号(CRS)。DM-RS可以由UE用于数据解调。参考信号可以在预定的PRB中被发送。
在一些实施例中,OFDMA技术既可以是使用不同上行链路频谱和下行链路频谱的频域双工(FDD)技术,或者可以是针对上行链路和下行链路使用相同频谱的时域双工(TDD)技术。
在一些其他实施例中,UE 400和eNB可以被配置为传输信号,该信号使用一个或多个其他调制技术(例如,扩频调制(例如,直接序列码分多址(DS-CDMA)和/或跳频码分多址(FH-CDMA))、时分复用(TDM)调制、和/或频分复用(FDM)调制)来发送,但实施例的范围不限于该方面。

在这些实施例中,CQI可以是对UE 400所经历的下行链路移动无线信道质量的指示。CQI允许UE 400向eNB提出最优调制方案和编码率来用于给定的无线链路质量,以使得所得的传输块错误率将不会超过某一值(例如,10%)。在一些实施例中,UE 400可以报告宽带CQI值,该宽带CQI值涉及系统带宽的信道质量。UE 400还可以报告一定数量的资源块的每子带的子带CQI值,这可以由更高层来配置。全套子带可以覆盖系统带宽。在空间复用的情况下,可以报告每码字的CQI。
