Abstract
Description
一方、高分子発光材料を用いた有機エレクトロルミネッセンス(以下、PLEDと略す)素子では、ポリアニリン系材料(特許文献1:特開平3-273087号公報、非特許文献2:ネイチャー(Nature)、英国、1992年、第357巻、p.477-479)や、ポリチオフェン系材料(非特許文献3:アプライド・フィジックス・レターズ(Applied Physics Letters)、米国、1998年、72巻、p.2660-2662)からなる薄膜を正孔輸送層として用いることで、OLED素子と同様の効果が得られることが報告されている。
当該低分子オリゴマー化合物は、それ自体の粘度が低く、通常の有機溶媒を使用した場合、成膜操作におけるプロセスマージンが狭いため、スピンコート、インクジェット塗布、スプレー塗布等の種々の塗布方式や、種々の焼成条件を用いる場合、高い均一性を有する成膜を行うことは困難であった。
しかし、各種添加溶媒を用いることで、粘度や、沸点および蒸気圧の調整が可能となり、種々の塗布方式に対応して高い均一性を有する成膜面を得ることが可能になってきている(特許文献4:国際公開第2004/043117号パンフレット、特許文献5:国際公開第2005/107335号パンフレット)。
しかし、スピンコート、インクジェット塗布、スプレー塗布等の種々の塗布方式に容易に対応し得るように、低分子オリゴマー化合物の溶解性のさらなる改善が求められているとともに、導電性、並びに有機EL素子に使用したときの発光効率および輝度特性の一層の向上が望まれている。
中でも、発光効率および輝度特性の向上は、OLED素子およびPLED素子のどちらにとっても重要な課題である。
正孔注入層の特性としては、発光層への正孔注入能、発光層からの電子ブロック能および発光層の励起子の失活抑制能等が挙げられる。これらの機能は、上述した有機EL素子の発光効率や輝度特性に大きな影響を及ぼすため、正孔注入層として優れた機能を実現し得る低分子オリゴマー化合物が求められている。
1. 一般式(1)で表されるオリゴアニリン誘導体またはその酸化体であるキノンジイミン誘導体と、電子受容性ドーパント物質または正孔受容性ドーパント物質と、少なくとも1種のシラン化合物とを含むことを特徴とする電荷輸送性ワニス、
2. 前記オリゴアニリン誘導体またはその酸化体であるキノンジイミン誘導体が、一般式(4)で表されるオリゴアニリン誘導体またはその酸化体であるキノンジイミン誘導体である1の電荷輸送性ワニス、
3. 前記電子受容性ドーパント物質が、式(5)で表されるアリールスルホン酸誘導体である1の電荷輸送性ワニス、
4. 有機溶媒を溶剤とする1の電荷輸送性ワニス、
5. 前記有機溶媒に対して0.0001~10質量%の水を含む4の電荷輸送性ワニス、
6. 前記シラン化合物が、前記電荷輸送性ワニスの固形分の総質量に対して、1~50質量%含まれる1の電荷輸送性ワニス、
7. 前記シラン化合物が、ジアルコキシシラン化合物、トリアルコキシシラン化合物、テトラアルコキシシラン化合物、およびシリコーン化合物から選ばれる少なくとも1種である1の電荷輸送性ワニス、
8. 1~7のいずれかの電荷輸送性ワニスから作製される電荷輸送性薄膜、
9. 8の電荷輸送性薄膜を備える有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子
を提供する。
また、本発明の電荷輸送性ワニスから得られる薄膜は、高平坦性および高電荷輸送性を有しているため、この特性を利用して、当該薄膜を太陽電池の正孔輸送層、燃料電池用電極、コンデンサ電極保護膜、帯電防止膜へ応用することもできる。
式(1)および(4)で表されるオリゴアニリン誘導体において、ハロゲン原子としては、フッ素、塩素、臭素、ヨウ素原子が挙げられる。
一価炭化水素基の具体例としては、メチル基、エチル基、n-プロピル基、i-プロピル基、n-ブチル基、i-ブチル基、t-ブチル基、n-ヘキシル基、n-オクチル基、2-エチルヘキシル基、デシル基等のアルキル基;シクロペンチル基、シクロヘキシル基等のシクロアルキル基;ビシクロヘキシル基等のビシクロアルキル基;ビニル基、1-プロペニル基、2-プロペニル基、イソプロペニル基、1-メチル-2-プロペニル基、1または2または3-ブテニル基、ヘキセニル基等のアルケニル基;フェニル基、キシリル基、トリル基、ビフェニル基、ナフチル基等のアリール基;ベンジル基、フェニルエチル基、フェニルシクロヘキシル基等のアラルキル基等や、これらの一価炭化水素基の水素原子の一部または全部がハロゲン原子、ヒドロキシル基、アルコキシ基、スルホン酸基などで置換されたものが挙げられる。
オルガノアミノ基の具体例としては、フェニルアミノ基、メチルアミノ基、エチルアミノ基、プロピルアミノ基、ブチルアミノ基、ペンチルアミノ基、ヘキシルアミノ基、ヘプチルアミノ基、オクチルアミノ基、ノニルアミノ基、デシルアミノ基、ラウリルアミノ基等のアルキルアミノ基;ジメチルアミノ基、ジエチルアミノ基、ジプロピルアミノ基、ジブチルアミノ基、ジペンチルアミノ基、ジヘキシルアミノ基、ジヘプチルアミノ基、ジオクチルアミノ基、ジノニルアミノ基、ジデシルアミノ基等のジアルキルアミノ基;シクロヘキシルアミノ基、モルホリノ基などが挙げられる。
オルガノチオ基の具体例としては、メチルチオ基、エチルチオ基、プロピルチオ基、ブチルチオ基、ペンチルチオ基、ヘキシルチオ基、ヘプチルチオ基、オクチルチオ基、ノニルチオ基、デシルチオ基、ラウリルチオ基などのアルキルチオ基が挙げられる。
リン酸エステル基としては、-P(O)(OQ1)(OQ2)が挙げられる。
エステル基としては、-C(O)OQ1、-OC(O)Q1が挙げられる。
チオエステル基としては、-C(S)OQ1、-OC(S)Q1が挙げられる。
アミド基としては、-C(O)NHQ1、-NHC(O)Q1、-C(O)NQ1Q2、-NQ1C(O)Q2が挙げられる。
ここで、上記Q1およびQ2は、アルキル基、アルケニル基またはアリール基を示し、これらについては、上記一価炭化水素基で例示した基と同様のものが挙げられる。
好ましい置換基としては、フッ素、スルホン酸基、オルガノオキシ基、アルキル基、オルガノシリル基等が挙げられる。
なお、置換基において、置換基同士が連結されて環状である部分を含んでいてもよい。
また、式(1)および(4)のオリゴアニリン誘導体は、溶解性を高めるとともに、電荷輸送性を均一にするということを考慮すると、分子量分布のない、換言すれば、分散度が1のオリゴアニリン誘導体であることが好ましい。
その分子量は、材料の揮発の抑制および電荷輸送性発現のために、下限として通常200以上、好ましくは400以上であり、また溶解性向上のために、上限として通常5000以下、好ましくは3000以下である。
これらの電荷輸送物質は1種類のみを使用してもよく、また2種類以上の物質を組み合わせて使用してもよい。
このような化合物の具体例としては、フェニルテトラアニリン、フェニルペンタアニリン、テトラアニリン(アニリン4量体)、オクタアニリン(アニリン8量体)等の有機溶媒に可溶なオリゴアニリン誘導体が挙げられる。
ここで、電荷輸送性ワニスとは、電荷輸送機構の本体である本発明のオリゴアニリン化合物からなる電荷輸送物質、またはこの電荷輸送物質および電子もしくは正孔受容性ドーパント物質からなる電荷輸送性有機材料を少なくとも1種の溶媒に溶解または分散してなるものである。
なお、電荷輸送性とは、導電性と同義であり、正孔輸送性、電子輸送性、正孔および電子の両電荷輸送性のいずれかを意味する。本発明の電荷輸送性ワニスは、それ自体に電荷輸送性があるものでもよく、ワニスを使用して得られる固体膜に電荷輸送性があるものでもよい。
特に、本発明の電荷輸送性物質と電荷受容性ドーパント;式(8)で示されるナフタレンジスルホン酸オリゴマー(NSO-2)(国際公開第2006/025342号パンフレット記載の化合物)との組み合わせでは、透明性(ホスト量が少なくなると透過率が向上する)、EL特性(ホストは可視領域に吸収を持っており、励起子からのエネルギー移動を引き起こし易いため、混合比が重要となる)の観点から最適混合モル比は、電荷輸送性物質:電荷受容性ドーパント=1:0.01~10.0であり、より好ましくは電荷輸送性物質:電荷受容性ドーパント=1:0.05~4.0である。
このシラン化合物としては、ジアルコキシシラン化合物、トリアルコキシシラン化合物、テトラアルコキシシラン化合物、およびシリコーン化合物から選ばれる少なくとも1種が挙げられ、電荷輸送性ワニスに使用する少なくとも1種の溶媒に溶解するものが好ましい。
シラン化合物の配合量は、多量に配合し過ぎると、素子内へ電流が注入されなくなる虞があるため、電荷輸送性ワニスの固形分の総質量に対して1~50質量%程度が好ましく、1~40質量%がより好ましく、3~35質量%がより一層好ましい。

本発明において、フッ素原子や、フッ素原子を含む置換基を有するシラン化合物は、これを含むワニスから作製された薄膜中で優れた表面移行性を有しているため、薄膜の最表面付近に多く存在することになる。このため、このようなフッ素原子を含むシラン化合物をワニスに配合することで、得られる薄膜の表面エネルギーの調整を容易に行えるようになる。
したがって、上述したトリアルコキシシランの場合は、Y1がフッ素原子であるか、フッ素原子を含む置換基であることが好ましく、ジアルコキシシランの場合は、Y3およびY4の少なくとも一方がフッ素原子であるか、フッ素原子を含む置換基であることが好ましい。
好ましいジアルコキシシラン化合物としては、3,3,3-トリフルオロプロピルメチルジメトキシシラン等のフッ素原子を含有するものが挙げられる。
シリコーン化合物の具体例としては、ジメチルシリコーンオイル、メチルフェニルシリコーンオイル、メチルハイドロジェンシリコーンオイル、アルキル変性シリコーンオイル、フッ素変性シリコーンオイル、ポリエーテル変性シリコーンオイル、アルコール変性シリコーンオイル、アミノ変性シリコーンオイル、エポキシ変性シリコーンオイル、フェノール変性シリコーンオイル、カルボキシ変性シリコーンオイル、メルカプト変性シリコーン、メタクリレート変性シリコーンなどが挙げられる。これらは単独で、または2種以上組み合わせて用いることができる。

これらの有機溶媒は、単独で、または2種以上組み合わせて用いることができる。
なお、電荷輸送性ワニスは、上記溶媒に完全に溶解しているか、均一に分散している状態となっていることが好ましい。
高粘度有機溶媒としては、例えば、シクロヘキサノール、エチレングリコール、エチレングリコールジクリシジルエーテル、1,3-オクチレングリコール、ジエチレングリコール、ジプロピレングリコール、トリエチレングリコール、トリプロピレングリコール、1,3-ブタンジオール、2,3-ブタンジオール、1,4-ブタンジオール、プロピレングリコール、へキシレングリコール等が挙げられる。
本発明のワニスに用いられる溶媒全体に対する高粘度有機溶媒の添加割合は、固体が析出しない範囲内であることが好ましく、固体が析出しない限りにおいて、添加割合は、5~80質量%であることが好ましい。
このような溶媒としては、例えば、ブチルセロソルブ、ジエチレングリコールジエチルエーテル、ジプロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、エチルカルビトール、ジアセトンアルコール、γ-ブチロラクトン、乳酸エチル等が挙げられる。
本発明の電荷輸送性ワニスにおいては、シランモノマーよりも、数量体やオリゴマーまたはポリマーの状態で存在する方がワニスの保存安定性が良好になる場合がある。このため、本発明の電荷輸送性ワニスは、シラン化合物を加水分解・縮合させる水を含んでもよい。
その場合、用いられる水の量はワニスの全有機溶媒に対して、0.0001~10質量%が好ましく、0.001~5質量%がより好ましい。
ワニスの塗布方法としては、特に限定されるものではなく、ディップ法、スピンコート法、転写印刷法、ロールコート法、刷毛塗り、インクジェット法、スプレー法等が挙げられる。
溶媒の蒸発法としては、特に限定されるものではなく、例えば、ホットプレートやオーブンを用いて、適切な雰囲気下、即ち大気、窒素等の不活性ガス、真空中等で蒸発させればよい。これにより、均一な成膜面を有する薄膜を得ることが可能である。
焼成温度は、溶媒を蒸発させることができれば特に限定されないが、40~250℃で行うことが好ましい。この場合、より高い均一成膜性を発現させたり、基材上で反応を進行させたりする目的で、2段階以上の温度変化をつけてもよい。
使用する電極基板は、洗剤、アルコール、純水等による液体洗浄を予め行って浄化しておくことが好ましく、例えば、陽極基板では使用直前にオゾン処理、酸素-プラズマ処理等の表面処理を行うことが好ましい。ただし陽極材料が有機物を主成分とする場合、表面処理を行わなくともよい。
陽極基板上に当該正孔輸送性ワニスを塗布し、上記の方法により蒸発、焼成を行い、電極上に正孔輸送性薄膜を作製する。これを真空蒸着装置内に導入し、正孔輸送層、発光層、電子輸送層、電子注入層、陰極金属を順次蒸着してOLED素子とする。発光領域をコントロールするために任意の層間にキャリアブロック層を設けてもよい。
陽極材料としては、インジウム錫酸化物(ITO)、インジウム亜鉛酸化物(IZO)に代表される透明電極が挙げられ、平坦化処理を行ったものが好ましい。高電荷輸送性を有するポリチオフェン誘導体やポリアニリン誘導体を用いることもできる。
電子輸送材料としては、Alq3、BAlq、DPVBi、2-(4-ビフェニル)-5-(4-t-ブチルフェニル)-1,3,4-オキサジアゾール(PBD)、トリアゾール誘導体(TAZ)、バソクプロイン(BCP)、シロール誘導体等が挙げられる。
電子注入層を形成する材料としては、酸化リチウム(Li2O)、酸化マグネシウム(MgO)、アルミナ(Al2O3)、フッ化リチウム(LiF)、フッ化マグネシウム(MgF2)、フッ化ストロンチウム(SrF2)、Liq、Li(acac)、酢酸リチウム、安息香酸リチウム等が挙げられる。
陰極材料としては、アルミニウム、マグネシウム-銀合金、アルミニウム-リチウム合金、リチウム、ナトリウム、カリウム、セシウム等が挙げられる。
陰極基板上に当該電子輸送性ワニスを塗布して電子輸送性薄膜を作製し、これを真空蒸着装置内に導入し、上記と同様の材料を用いて電子輸送層、発光層、正孔輸送層、正孔注入層を形成した後、陽極材料をスパッタリング等の方法により成膜してOLED素子とする。
上記OLED素子作製において、正孔輸送層、発光層、電子輸送層、電子注入層の真空蒸着操作を行う代わりに、発光性電荷輸送性高分子層を形成することによって本発明の電荷輸送性ワニスによって形成される電荷輸送性薄膜を含むPLED素子を作製することができる。
具体的には、陽極基板上に、電荷輸送性ワニス(正孔輸送性ワニス)を塗布して上記の方法により正孔輸送性薄膜を作製し、その上部に発光性電荷輸送性高分子層を形成し、さらに陰極電極を蒸着してPLED素子とする。
あるいは、陰極基板上に、電荷輸送性ワニス(電子輸送性ワニス)を塗布して上記の方法により電子輸送性薄膜を作製し、その上部に発光性電荷輸送性高分子層を形成し、さらにスパッタリング、蒸着、スピンコート等の方法により陽極電極を作製してPLED素子とする。
発光性電荷輸送性高分子層の形成法としては、発光性電荷輸送性高分子材料、またはこれに発光性ドーパントを加えた材料に溶媒を加えて溶解するか、均一に分散し、正孔注入層を形成してある電極基板に塗布した後、溶媒の蒸発により成膜する方法が挙げられる。
発光性電荷輸送性高分子材料としては、ポリ(9,9-ジアルキルフルオレン)(PDAF)等のポリフルオレン誘導体、ポリ(2-メトキシ-5-(2’-エチルヘキソキシ)-1,4-フェニレンビニレン)(MEH-PPV)等のポリフェニレンビニレン誘導体、ポリ(3-アルキルチオフェン)(PAT)等のポリチオフェン誘導体、ポリビニルカルバゾール(PVCz)等を挙げることができる。
塗布方法としては、特に限定されるものではなく、インクジェット法、スプレー法、ディップ法、スピンコート法、転写印刷法、ロールコート法、刷毛塗り等が挙げられる。なお、塗布は、窒素、アルゴン等の不活性ガス下で行うことが望ましい。
溶媒の蒸発法としては、不活性ガス下または真空中、オーブンまたはホットプレートで加熱する方法を挙げることができる。
下記フェニルテトラアニリン(以下PTAと略す)は、ブレティン・オブ・ケミカル・ソサエティ・オブ・ジャパン(Bulletin of Chemical Society of Japan)、1994年、第67巻、p.1749-1752に従って、p-ヒドロキシジフェニルアミンとp-フェニレンジアミンとから合成した(収率85%)。
下記ナフタレンジスルホン酸化合物(以下NSO-2と略す)は、国際公開第2006/025342号パンフレットに従って、1-ナフトール-3,6-ジスルホン酸ナトリウムとパーフルオロビフェニルとから合成した(収率81%)。
構造物付きITO基板は、ポジ型感光性ポリイミドを用いて作製した。25×25mm、厚みが0.7mmのITOベタ基板上のパターンは、膜厚1.0nm、Line(ポリイミドの幅)30μm、ピクセル幅(構造物間)50×100μmであった。
感光性ポリイミド構造物(構造物付きITO基板)の形状を、株式会社小坂研究所製 高精度微細形状測定器 SUREFCORDER ET4000Aを使用して測定した。測定条件は、測定範囲0.5mm、送り速さ0.05mm/sec、測定力である触針圧10μNとした。また、共焦点レーザー顕微鏡(レーザーテック社製 リアルタイム走査型レーザー顕微鏡 1LM21D)を用いて構造物付きITO基板を観察した。図1に構造物付きITO基板の共焦点レーザー顕微鏡写真を示す。図2および図3に構造物付き基材のITO部分を測定した結果を示す。
参考例1で合成したPTA0.150g(0.340mmol)と、参考例2で合成したNSO-2 0.307g(0.340mmol)とを窒素雰囲気下、1,3-ジメチル-2-イミダゾリジノン(以下DMIと略す)7.5gに完全に溶解させた。得られた溶液に2,3-ブタンジオール(以下2,3-BDと略す)15.0g、次いで酢酸ヘキシル(以下nHAcと略す)7.5gを加えて攪拌し、電荷輸送性ワニスを調製した(固形分1.5質量%)。
得られたワニスは、スプレー塗布装置(株式会社藤森技術研究所製 NVD-200)を用いて、UV-O3処理を1分間施した参考例3で作製した構造物付きのITO基板にスプレー塗布した。
スプレー塗布装置の塗布条件は、膜厚30nm狙い、XおよびYスキャン方向200mm、XおよびYオフセット0mm、スキャンピッチ12mm、ギャップ100mm、ノズル速度300mm/sec、窒素量5L/min、薬液量0.6mL/min、塗布待機時間5sec、タクトタイム30secとした。
塗布後、空気中、ホットプレート上で、50℃で5分間、次いで、230℃で15分間焼成を行い、電荷輸送性薄膜を作製した。
図4に構造物基板に塗布した電荷輸送性薄膜の共焦点レーザー顕微鏡の写真を示す。図5および図6に比較例1の電荷輸送性薄膜の膜厚分布を測定した結果を示す。
参考例1で合成したPTA0.150g(0.340mmol)と、参考例2で合成したNSO-2 0.307g(0.340mmol)とを窒素雰囲気下、DMI7.5gに完全に溶解させた。得られた溶液に2,3-BD15.0g、次いでnHAc7.5gを加えて攪拌した。最後に、トリメトキシ(3,3,3-トリフルオロプロピル)シランとトリ(メトキシフェニル)シランの1:2(質量比)の混合溶剤を0.046g加え、電荷輸送性ワニスを調製した(固形分1.5質量%)。
得られたワニスを用い、比較例1と同様の方法および条件を用いて、電荷輸送性薄膜を作製した。
図8に構造物基板に塗布した電荷輸送性薄膜の共焦点レーザー顕微鏡の写真を示す。図9および図10に実施例1の電荷輸送性薄膜の膜厚分布を測定した結果を示す。
次に、基板を真空蒸着装置内に導入し、比較例1と同様にしてα-NPD、Alq3、LiF、Alを順次蒸着してOLED素子を得た。得られたOLED素子の発光面を図11に示す。
図4~11に示されるように、実施例1のワニスは比較例1のそれに比べて、画素内に均一に成膜可能であり、得られた素子はムラなく発光していることがわかる。
参考例1で合成したPTA0.0601g(0.136mmol)と、参考例2で合成したNSO-2 0.1226g(0.136mmol)とを窒素雰囲気下、DMI4.0gに完全に溶解させた。得られた溶液にシクロヘキサノール(以下CHAと略す)6.0g、次いで2,3-BD2.0gを加えて攪拌し、電荷輸送性ワニスを調製した(固形分1.5質量%)。
このワニスを用いてITOガラス基板上へスピンコート法により約30nmの均一な薄膜を作製した後、この基板を真空蒸着装置内に導入し、比較例1と同様にしてα-NPD、Alq3、LiF、Alを順次蒸着してOLED素子を得た。
参考例1で合成したPTA0.0601g(0.136mmol)と、参考例2で合成したNSO-2 0.1226g(0.136mmol)とを窒素雰囲気下、DMI4.0gに完全に溶解させた。得られた溶液にCHA6.0g、次いで2,3-BD2.0gを加えて攪拌した。最後に、トリメトキシ(3,3,3-トリフルオロプロピル)シランとトリ(メトキシフェニル)シランの1:2(質量比)の混合溶剤を0.018g加え、電荷輸送性ワニスを調製した(固形分1.5質量%)。
このワニスを用いてITOガラス基板上へスピンコート法により約30nmの均一な薄膜を作製した後、この基板を真空蒸着装置内に導入し、比較例1と同様にしてα-NPD、Alq3、LiF、Alを順次蒸着してOLED素子を得た。
図12、13に示されるように、実施例2で得られたOLED素子は、比較例2の素子と比べ、電圧-輝度、電圧-電流密度において特に優れていることがわかる。
Claims (9)
- 一般式(1)で表されるオリゴアニリン誘導体またはその酸化体であるキノンジイミン誘導体と、電子受容性ドーパント物質または正孔受容性ドーパント物質と、少なくとも1種のシラン化合物とを含むことを特徴とする電荷輸送性ワニス。
- 前記電子受容性ドーパント物質が、式(5)で表されるアリールスルホン酸誘導体である請求項1記載の電荷輸送性ワニス。
- 有機溶媒を溶剤とする請求項1記載の電荷輸送性ワニス。
- 前記有機溶媒に対して0.0001~10質量%の水を含む請求項4記載の電荷輸送性ワニス。
- 前記シラン化合物が、前記電荷輸送性ワニスの固形分の総質量に対して、1~50質量%含まれる請求項1記載の電荷輸送性ワニス。
- 前記シラン化合物が、ジアルコキシシラン化合物、トリアルコキシシラン化合物、テトラアルコキシシラン化合物、およびシリコーン化合物から選ばれる少なくとも1種である請求項1記載の電荷輸送性ワニス。
- 請求項1~7のいずれか1項記載の電荷輸送性ワニスから作製される電荷輸送性薄膜。
- 請求項8記載の電荷輸送性薄膜を備える有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
